I wish I was here for a few more days to explore the rest of the menu (flaming halloumi drizzled in honey!). For today I had the bruschetta flatbread (cherry tomatoes, Parmesian, balsamic reduction) - delicious. The flatbread was outstanding. Followed by seafood paella, also delicious. All paired with their house Italian red, a slightly bold but classically dry Italian wine. It all fit perfectly. Only regret is... no room for dessert. The flatbread is definitely fit for two... I'm looking forward to coming back. It'll be a while, probably won't be in Kanata for at least a few months, but Via Marzo is top of my list when I'm back. And next time... dessert! We ordered drinks. An entire 8oz of rose was spilled in my dining partner's lap as the server tripped on her own feet, according to her. As he was dressed in his Sunday best. Pants, shirt. Table. Menu. My cell phone. What a mess. We were shocked a bit, but laughed it off. Declined to move tables and didn't accept her offer of a new server. Life happens but it really was nice of her that she said, she was covering that round of drinks. One would expect, right? We ordered escargot to share. Called it an afternoon as my partner was feeling a bit uncomfortable and wanted to leave to change. Bill was brought. No discount on drinks as promised. I advised the young gal that that wasn't right. She advised there was no manager for the discount approval. She returned back inside, came out. Took off one drink from the bill. The spilled one. But, these dudes totally know their pizza *and* make luscious Indian, and beat out an enormous number of Ottawa restaurants in both categories. I am not much of a crust fan and tend to always ask for thin crust. I stopped doing that here because the crust is terrific. I don't know what the deal with the pizza sauce is, but it makes the whole thing totally crave-worthy. The toppings and cheese ratios are perfect. The paneer dish was in the smoothest and richest of sauces, and the rice and naan were just right. It's a pretty basic little spot, looks like any pizza takeaway joint and only has a few tables, but, when I received an offer to be taken out and spoiled in a restaurant for my birthday this year, I went here. The food is so good I couldn't think of anywhere else I would have preferred to go. And while it might seem like an odd mix, pizza and Indian are just about my two favourite restaurant types; it's actually kind of a genius combination. Everything is very fresh, and you never get an under- or over-cooked pizza. I asked for spinach as a topping recently and was told _very_ apologetically that it was probably about to disappear from the menu -- "nobody orders it; I end up just throwing it out, box after box," and I had to pause for a moment to realise he had been buying fresh spinach. So many other places would have tossed on frozen and not cared! (Pizzaria Unlimited: please consider replacing it with broccoli, and, frozen is just fine...) This review was written with considerable difficulty as I do not have their food in front of me, and thinking about it is making me drool all over the screen.
