Great food, wine, friendly staff, sculpture garden, swing with a view of the vineyard, charming atmosphere and dog friendly. There are ducks, chickens and hens as well as a tiny tube swing for kids to ride on behind the winery that has a birds' eye view of their vineyard. Wines are tasty and very reasonably priced ($23-30 a bottle).

My second visit, so happy I almost forgot to take a picture... again.

The lake view in the distance makes up for it. Inside, the booth seating and bar stool area is very old-school pub amplified by the brewing tanks that make their presence felt. There's nothing outstanding about the ambience. 2. Beer - great quality. Order the flights if you're not sure. 3. Food and service - my guests ordered the burger with kettle chips. Burger was ok but was more like a slider than a burger. Very skimpy on the chips which consisted of about 10 or so individual chips. There was no option for fries or a side salad. The Brewery salad was excellent but once again, the optional extra chicken consisting of about five thin rings ($7) was very disappointing. 4. Value - Poor value for food. Management should reconsider the prices they charge, especially when there are several other restaurants in Westport that provide much more, and better for equal or lower prices. 5. Service - poor. Our food arrived but we had no cutlery. I had ordered an appetizer which never came. It was followed by a mild apology after I questioned it when the main course was served A good restaurant would have served up a complimentary app to make up for the shortcoming. I won't be going back unless it's just for a pint of their excellent lager and/or dark ale.

We asked, and they've only been open two weeks! It's a lovely English style pub with tin-looking walls and dark furniture - everything is new and tidy. There are booths to sit at, a long bar, and high tables near the window, so there are some nice seating options. We tried the cream of carrot and ginger (soup of the day) and it was outstanding. I tried the sandwich of the day, a roast chicken with caramelized onions on 'mediterranean' bread, which was a simple white bread with some bits of kalamata olives in it, I think. I had an option of fries, salad, or potato salad, and went for the salad, which was a pile of lovely fresh greens with a creamy balsamic on top. Another of us had the chicken leek casserole which was huge and tasty. With some tricky to find imports on tap like Newcastle brown and Old Speckled Hen, we really felt like we'd stumbled into a nice example of a UK pub in Brockville. They have a bunch of premium and imported options for beer on tap plus a reasonable wine list. Worth a stop!

Although many breweries/brewpubs have leaned into the now-cliché industrial look, KBC looks very much like an old school pub. Its walls are covered in the paraphernalia of countless beer companies, and there's plenty of nooks and crannies to sit down with your people and knock back some pints. Going to brewpubs can be a hit-or-miss experience for my non-beer-drinker wife, but KBC's enticing menu has something for everyone. Also, their sausage rolls appetizer was enough to ensure that we were both eager to try out the pub. The sausage rolls are of the bite-sized variety and come with a tomato-chili sauce for dipping. The puff pastry of the rolls was shatteringly-crisp, with some browning on both it and the exposed meat at the ends. I enjoyed the juicy, savoury meat inside and the tomato-chili sauce brought some acidity and heat to the show. Since we still weren't l that hungry, we decided to share just one main, the cottage pie. I always give mental kudos to places that use the proper name for this dish (it's only shepherd's pie if lamb is used) and take it as a sign that they know what they're doing. It's hard to have a *bad* cottage/shepherd's pie, but KBC's stood a bit above the fray with a bit more depth of flavour to its meat seasoning, as well as the smoked cheddar in the potatoes. As always, don't be too eager, as you will burn your mouth. Our server was very chill, but was still attentive and knew his stuff beer- and food-wise. It's easy to see why KBC is such a popular spot, and I'm glad we hit them up on this trip through Kingston!

I had the Barracks Black and I can't recall the beer my wife got but I think it was an amber ale of sorts. Both were good. I really enjoyed the black and we ended up buying some to take home with us. Dinner is served by reservation only Friday-Sunday. We arrived a bit early but were seated right away. Our server Matt was attentive and took care to make sure we got what we needed. They are a wedding venue and the menu is limited to 4 main course selections (chicken, beef, salmon or vegetarian). We had some appetizers, the chicken, salmon and short ribs. All were cooked nicely and the portions were large. We all wanted more seasoning, the food was bland and unimaginative despite the menu descriptions that suggested otherwise. We went expecting a fine dining experience and the flavors simply weren't there. I'd be remiss not to mention the wine. The Pinot Noir was young but decent for an east coast red. They offer a decent selection of red and white wines and also serve wine slushes that seemed to be quite popular. All in all it was a pleasant experience.
