No nonsense type of diner that serves up above grade food, especially for the price. The chef has travelled all over the globe and is happy to share the stories of last experiences after he's cooked up a tasty meal for you. The burger is especially good. That's often a diner go-to but at the same time you still have to make it good to have people like it! They come with these perfectly fried French fries and the portion is generous. I've also had the pasta there and it was also amazing. I live in Toronto and you get spiked here, but I also find the level of pretentiousness can overwhelm at times, and this place has none of it. You want a glass of wine with your meal that doesn't cost $27? Here that is possible. The atmosphere is pretty basic, but you're talking to a guy whose favorite joint in Toronto is this photo place whose walls are blasted in Pepto Bismol pink. I'm there for the food. Totally worth the trip and one of the towns best. Check it out! read more

What a delightful surprise. Driving through town, we chose this spot because the parking lot was full. We walked in expecting a burger joint (they have delicious ones), but walked out after eating an amazing Vegetarian Pot Pie, Homemade Apple Pie with a flaky crust, Blackened Chicken and a Burger and Frites, and an amazing Caesar Salad! We plan our trip to our cottage to make sure we can stop here (in both directions). To call this a Diner, is really an understatement! read more

Fantastic small eatery catering to lunch and dinner crowds. Even though it is setup in what appears to previously be a small diner the atmosphere is warm, clean and cozy. Nothing fancy with the tables, chairs, utensils or glassware but it is the food that counts. My Chicken was FANTASTIC! Grilled to the edge of crispiness but sautéed with a light oil sauce and black pepper. When I cut into the chicken it oozed with moisture and warm juices. I also ordered two sides of vegetables and skipped the potatoes. Those carrots were diced and sautéed to perfection. As I was eating my entrée I was lost in the discussion because of how good my meal was. It was so good that when I was about to put the final piece of chicken in my mouth when my cousin said to me "Eh! that looks like a fantastic grilled chicken, Eh?".....I felt bad because it was my last piece and had already been handled by me therefore I could not share it with him. The good news! Excellent meal and even better both my cousins will be returning back as they are local..........and because they have not yet tasted that grilled chicken. The only downside is that they would not take my u.s. dollars and the conversion rate of 1.29%. Not sure why Canada has not sifted to the u.s. dollar yet. Fantastic little diner! The Hungry 7 was recommended to us, and while we were initially skeptical of a tiny diner on the highway, it did not disappoint! Everyone loved their food (burger, lasagna, chicken pot pie, and perogies at our table), and we washed it down with some local beer from the nearby Perth Brewery! We couldn't pass up a homemade dessert and split a piece of carrot cake four ways. Delicious! The decor is simple, but clean and nice, and the service was attentive and friendly. I won't hesitate to return next time we are in the area! read more

I almost dismissed this place when I saw a photo of the outside. But then I read the reviews and I'm so glad I did. This place is a little gem. Absolutely delicious! I ordered the Hungry 7 Burger. I never order hamburgers in restaurants because I make excellent burgers at home, but the waitress sold it with a great description and it didn't disappoint; fantastic! And the best fries I've ever had; yum! This is a perfect example of not judging a book by its cover. read more

Nice little diner conveniently located on Highway 7. Good, quality homemade food. Good number of options on the kids menu, lots of burgers, comfort foods, salads (I had a grilled chicken Caesar that had tasty homemade dressing). Staff was friendly and on a Friday night the place was full of locals. Menu could use some vegetarian options - on a full page burger menu there wasn't even a vegetarian burger. The only real option other than a salad was the pirogies. Would go back again. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by my recent lunch at the Hungary 7. I expected the usual "Diner on a highway" food. My club sandwich was excellent, a fresh perfectly cooked chicken breast with the usual ingredients ( Bacon, lettuce, tomato and, it seemed a special mayo) served on toasted sour dough bread. It was accompanied with a tossed salad that was actually tossed with a delicious dressing. A great lunch, nicely served with an attentive server. I will return. read more

Great find on Hwy 7 at Perth. We came on the recommendation of members of the family. We had the special, a shrimp linguine with garlic toast. It came well presented in a nice large bowl - wonderful!! We shared a house salad with it which was very large and very fresh with lots of different types of lettuce and other vegetables. The house wine was also excellent. There were lots of patrons coming in but the waitress was very good and handled everyone in a very prompt manner. Definitely will go back. read more

The Hungry 7 hits it out of the ballpark again. Large soup, large garden salad, paste main course, hot chicken sandwich main plate and unlimited refills on our drinks, all for $50 !!! And the best part was it was all home made by the excellent staff, while we waited. This diner may look ordinary on the outside but don't be fooled as others have, because once you sink your teeth into one of the many fabulous items from the menu, you will join the legion of fans that rave about this secret gem, hidden right on the main highway. Located beside the DQ and across the street from McD, this eatery is more than worth the extra ten minutes it will take to get a real burger that will make you groan with pleasure from the first bite till the last scrap !! The 18th of May 2014 we went to this cozy modern diner restaurant for supper. We were wonderfully surprised by the excellent quality of the food and the service. The friendly and experienced chef prepared us a feast and came by to chat with us. If you enjoy home cooked meals you have to stop at Hungry 7 in Perth, you won't be disappointed. The menu offered a good variety and they also had specials of the day. I ordered a chicken and shrimp pasta dish, my husband had meatloaf and my friend tried the lasagna. Everything was cooked to perfection. We also tried the wild mushroom soup and the chicken coconut and ginger soup yummy. The portions where generous. Even though we were full we had to taste the homemade pies: wow pecan chocolate pie and mango pie. We rate this restaurant a 5 star. Do not miss this opportunity while going through Perth.
