Santa Maria Penske delivered the correct cap and gave us an overview on how the truck worked and told us there was an issue with the driver door causing it to read the parking brake on. not an air ride so really really really rough ride. there was glass in the box that had not been swept up and it took 2 muscle guys pulling and pushing hard as a team to get the ramp pulled out and pushed back in. really crappy truck and not sure I would ever rent Penske again... and never ever from San Leandro.

So I was very scared since we were moving on a Saturday that someone was going to take our truck... So pick up was 8am. OH MY GOD! It was 8:09am we get in and another man was seconds away from taking our truck. If my ears aren't amazing. I heard the dude at register say that one is our last one and is reserved but looks like they aren't coming.. so i literally yelled (even tho i was in line right behind him) and was like "that's out truck!!!! We reserved it." And luckily. The man said okay. Then the guy in front tried arguing with us, saying he was there first. Which I completely understand but we were 9 mins late, c'mon. I get it if it was like 15-30mins late fine, give it away but we were literally 9 mins late. Get off your high horse. If you needed the truck THAT bad should've reserved it.‍ So when we were online it said $230 for one way one day. To pick it up in San Leandro and drop it off in Tracy. And it gave us like 65 miles. So we did that. When we go in, he showed us a promo. If we did a round trip (pick up and drop off in san leandro 130 miles, 2 days) it would only be $130. Then if we go over in miles, each mile is like .33 so we did that. Saves us a whole $100 plus we get it for 2 days if we needed that long which we didn't, so of course we would take the cheaper deal. I didn't like how he gave us the keys and told us to check truck to make sure it was good. He didn't even drive the truck up. We had to walk all the way to the back. Then the fucking truck was behind 3 other trucks. So i'm like how can I even see if anything is broken/etc if the truck you gave us is the one all the way in the back? So I then walk my fatass allll the way back to get him to move the other two trucks. Everything seems good. So we left. We ended up going over like 18 miles it was like $6. So that was a fucking steal!! We got all our stuff moved in one trip & one day! Didn't need it for the two days. For only $137. Not bad. When returning it was two youngsters working. They both had their airpods in, talking. Not working. Made no eye contact. Kinda slow. Irritated my soul. Idk if i'm getting old or what it is but they irritated me. Acted all immature. Kept throwing the keys back and fourth. Saying "you help her, no you bro" i'm like SOMEONE JUST HELP ME. I been moving all day. I'm trynna go homeeee. If we wanted to pick up earlier, they offer an online pickup. We estimated 40 miles. They initially charged us for 40 miles, and when we returned the van, they adjusted the amount for the actual miles used: 28 miles. We didn't have to ask them to adjust it. It's automatically done that way. :) Everything is done online - even checking the vehicle for damages. They texted me a link and I approved or disputed all angles of the van. Good service. Based on the reviews of the other places and my past personal experience with my former employer I went with Ryder, and boy they have not disappointed thus far. Yes, there was some issues with my first week rental i.e. ramp wasn't working properly, fixed, inside the box was broken glass and lots of trash, when night came found out the headlights didn't work. These are all the negatives but, Jacob had great customer service and took charge of the situation. My business partner wanted to go to penske after the first week but I convinced him to stick it out. And it has worked beautifully thus far. I like the fact that every problem or issue that came about Jacob or Maintenance crew took care of it. I have rented trucks from them on a weekly basis and every time there is a truck waiting for me in the morning for pickup. Will definitely keep doing business with these guys.
