Vibes are cool. Brick wall menu, multiple floors with various seating, hell you're right in the middle of beautiful Silverton. That's why I chose this spot for crying out loud! We were here on a Sunday morning on the beginning part of our trek back to Denver. And waiting for our coffees really through a wrench in our momentum. There was no urgency, the line was out the door, no apologies for the drinks taking 15 minutes, cmon now. At the very least, you won't be paying Denver coffee shop prices! I like the atmosphere, but I really wish we went somewhere that moved at a more appropriate pace instead.

Lucky for us, Purg is pretty prepared with "Burn kits" for the exact reason (obviously not mentioned before riding the slide itself) but that helps EXCEPT the fact that it only included 1 bandaid. We ran to the market in hopes of more bandaids and children's Tylenol..it cost us $32 for those two things!!!! In a crisis the markup for basic items was insane! $22 just for Tylenol and $10 for bandaids. So disappointed to take advantage of our crisis.

It actually reminded me of a cafe I used to frequent in college. They make all their baked goods in house, it's tough to choose! You order at the counter and the line was long on a Saturday morning. They have a handwritten chalkboard menu behind the counter, but if you can't see it in line they have paper menus to grab at the register. The tough decisions arise when you get close to the pastry case. It's filled with delicious quiches, buns, and morning staples. I was intrigued by the quiches and they had a huge selection of them. I landed on the green chile and bacon (I think it was bacon?!) When I went to order I was hit with a question I wasn't prepared for. They asked me if I wanted it on a regular pie crust or a hashbrown crust. FTW?! I had never heard of such a thing. They said if I like potatoes then get the hashbrown crust...I'm so glad I trusted their recommendation! They indeed bake hashbrowns into the quiche and it acts as the crust. We chatted a bit about the time when she owned the large restaurant next door and used to have all sorts of Au Pair coming form Europe to work the season in Silverton as servers. It was nice to meet a friendly shop owner as this does not seem to be always the case in this tourist Mecca :) We ordered a Strawberry Smoothie, a Chocolate filled croissant and an iced Coconut Latte. Everything was delicious, refreshing and it was great that the shop had a few benches outside where to relax and enjoy the cold drinks while gazing at the mountains.
