Scam!!! They have no problems installing them but will not clean them unless you sign an expensive contract. I had them install my gutters about a year ago. The gutters work well and I had no issues with them so far. You probably won't find a better price. No complaints on he installation. I recently called them for a cleaning and they sent somebody to my house who left without cleaning them. When I inquired why they didn't clean them they said because I installed gutter guards they won't touch them. Keep in mind the guy on the phone said this would not be a problem. This is honestly the first time I've ever used a company without checking it out on Yelp (and I'm a regular yelper). If I'd have yelped it first, I would have got scared and gone with someone else. Goes to show that sometimes, it helps to go on gut. We had a long gutter over our deck area that had broken with the snow/heavy ice and it was dangerously close to seriously falling down and damaging something (like our hot tub) or someone. I called around but all the gutter people were swamped. Ned Stevens had very good customer service on the phone, and I was impressed with all the people I spoke to - each time it was someone different. I must say I was a little peeved at having to give my credit card details before the work was done. It's not common practice to charge for service upfront surely??? I was also peeved that they couldn't give me an exact date. 3 days after I gave them my details, the gutter came crashing down slightly damaging the tub and causing a helluva mess on the deck but nothing too serious. I phoned them to hurry them up and the customer service guy who sounded like he'd been trained by Deepak Chopra (meditative, hypnotic, soothing voice), assured me that they couldn't come urgently but they would get to me as soon as possible. He "hypnotized" me into just letting it go....and I waited. 48 hours later they came, and twenty minutes later the job was done. I was impressed with the work and the guys seemed decent enough. I probably wouldn't sign up for any regular cleaning (and yes, they do try to hard sell you a contract) based on these reviews, but I was happy enough to up the rating. Ned Stevens will send someone to your home whether you are there or not. How do you know if they really performed the service they claim to have provided you if you aren't there? Ned Stevens will leave a bill at your front door that says to sign the bill if you want their next "recommended" gutter cleaning. Even if you don't sign the bill to authorize their "recommended" next cleaning, they will send someone to your home anyway and bill you for it. When you call to complain that you didn't authorize the service Ned Stevens gives you two options: (1) pay the full amount ($125) for the service you didn't authorize or (2) pay $45 for the service you didn't authorize and sign up for their $492 service plan. Neither option sounds too good to me. My wife and I recently moved to the Summit area. We needed our gutters cleaned in the fall of 2009. We received a coupon in the mail for Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning so we decided to try them. Ned Stevens does not schedule appointments because they "claim" they cannot guarantee when they will get to your house and because they need the weather to be above 38 degrees. Based on the experience we had with them, we can only assume they don't schedule appointments because it makes it easier for them to get away with their sketchy service and poor business ethics. Afterall, if the utility company can give you a window of between 8 am and 12 pm on a particular day, why can't a gutter cleaner? Based on their billing and scheduling practices, who knows if they even cleaned our gutters. Unfortunately I don't have a ladder and have no way of getting on my roof to tell if they really did clean them. In most transactions that take place over the phone, the seller is required to ask you to confirm that you are aware of the product or service they will be providing you and they ask you to confirm that you are okay with them billing you for said product or service. Apparently this rule/law does not apply to Ned Stevens. If you do go ahead and decide to use their service, be careful what you say on the phone to them. Their sales representatives have a canned pitch and "recommend" certain service plans. Even if you make it clear you only want to schedule them for one visit. Apparently in the world of gutter cleaning the words "recommend" and "confirm" have a different meaning then in the real world. For example, if you go to get your oil changed at a Jiffy Lube they may recommend you get a radiator flush or have your tires rotated, but they don't perform this service without getting your authorization first. Imagine if you asked for an oil change and then you were charged for both a tire rotation and a radiator flush. That would be unethical. Well, if Ned Stevens makes a "recommendation" it means you are fully committed to whatever they are telling you, it's not merely a suggestion. read more

HORRIBLE company!!! We called a month ago for an emergency leak in our ceiling that we thought had to do with our gutters. Turns out that wasn't the problem. But the company told us we couldn't come out because "it was too cold." A month later they show up to our house unannounced without calling to confirm any sort of appointment, trespassed on my property, inspected the gutters and such, and left an invoice for $150!!! This company is HORRIBLE, don't use in any circumstance. As mentioned in other reviews, they bill you (at much higher prices) before they do the work and then never show up, even though the temperature outside is above the 38 degrees they claim they need to work. Don't be fooled by their claims of a BBB A+ rating, the reviews speak for themselves. I am somewhat relaxed in terms of having work done on my house but these guys test the limit and are completely useless. Back to their only retort of their BBB rating, I have never used or seen a company use this "rating" as much as they do, makes you question why they bring it up so much, their work should speak for itself and most companies should and do not continually claim or post their BBB rating. They are a joke and I'm amazed that they've gotten any positive reviews...even though they are an extreme minority on here. This is my first review of any service and probably my last but I felt that I must let others know how horrible this company is to deal with. in response to Jenna's reply....to be very clear, my issues with Ned Stevens occurred before we had snow on the ground and prior to the recent cold spell. Horrible dishonest company. Came out and did a cleaning and left debris at the outlets of my gutters. Debris scattered all over my yard and water and debris all over my cars. Called the company and explained the problem. They scheduled a redo. The crew came to my house with a blower in hand to just blow the debris to other areas. I sent them away and cleaned everything myself. They did not speak any English. They are also priced a lot higher than other gutter cleaning companies. They always seem to find a problem with either the gutters or the roof and say that I need to get the gutters replaced and the roof needs a special coating. I had an inspector come out and she found no issues. I canceled my contract back in June and they constantly call to see if I want to restart my service . Customer service reps have a tendency to be short with you if you aren't saying what they want to hear. I finally hung up on one and they still call. Called them and they gave me a quote without showing up at the house it was over the phone. Then they were more worried about locking me into a contract for multiple cleanings and some extra level without even completing the first job. They were very pushy on the phone. This was a big red flag. So next was scheduling, they never showed I called a month later to remind them due to weather conditions, blah, blah , blah.. Then I get a call back in 15 minutes and they say they sent a crew out but the estimate was incorrect and they wanted another $90 to $120 dollars for one visit. I booked gutter cleaning for 2x a year through Ned Stevens in January of this year (2015). They did not come out until March due to weather conditions. Then, they came out again in June because it was 6 mo. from the original date I called. When I called them to say that we were not expecting to have 2 cleanings so close together, they argued with me and subsequently sent me a phone recording of me "approving" the next service. You can also hear me in the message specify that we want cleanings 6 mo. apart, and the person I was speaking to did not give me enough time to process that the month he mentioned was not 6 mo. out. The customer service person I spoke to refused to acknowledge that they mislead me. We will never be using their services again. They are pushy and have terrible customer service. read more

Terrible customer service. All they care about is taking your money and then do not stand accountable for their workmanship. We purchased gutters and leaders with them on one small section of our home when we purchased it last year. Out of no where, the gutter bowed out and began ripping off of the house. Customer service told me that because we do not have a gutter cleaning service set up with them that they would not warranty it. When asked to speak with a supervisor, he gave me every excuse in the book as to why they were not going to warranty it and then had the audacity to try to sell me replacement gutters. No house I have ever lived in before just had gutters that came off. Also, the other gutters we have that had not been replaced are fine. I have used Ned Stevens for years since I dont feel safe having my husband climb our steep roof. They are always prompt and professional and I never have problems with clogged gutters since we are on a service contract. They always pick up any gutter debris and leave my property spotless. If I ever have a question, I have always found the people answering the phone to be knowledgeable and , if they don't know an answer, always make a point of finding it out. Our first time using Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning was well worth it! Over the past few summers, I've noticed the mold stains on our roof getting worse and worse. We finally called Ned Stevens after a family recommended their service to clean the stains. Their guys showed up promptly, removed our patio furniture from the porch, and took other precautions necessary to protect our property. They were incredibly thorough throughout the whole process of cleaning our roof and siding. The final product is so outstanding, it looks as if we had the roof replaced. Upon finishing, everything was left the way it was found. I can't say enough about their level of professionalism and quality of work. I was leaving the house for an errand when they arrived, and when I returned found 2 plants and a clay decoration that are by the side door and have never been moved, out of place and the decoration broken. I just had my gutters ill-used by "Ned Stevens Service" while I was not at home. When I spoke to their representative, over the telephone, to schedule the service; she stated that as part of their cleaning service they would re-attach (re-nail) and align the gutters as required. She stated that they would not replace the nails with screws as I requested! The gutters did not require cleaning since we do not have trees near the house; however, I did want the gutters re-attached and realigned; so, I agreed to the cleaning service. Needless to say, none of the gutters were re-attached and are still in need of service. I just wasted $149.00 to have more water flushed through my crooked gutters! When I contacted "Ned Stevens", I was told that the gutters needed to be replaced and that I should send pictures of the gutters! At my age, I am not about to climb a ladder 25 feet in the air to take pictures. That is why I thought I was hiring them! They should inspect the job before agreeing to accept payment for a Half-Assed service. Do not use this company! I will never deal with them again! Now, I have to start over again and try to find a reputable company to re-attach and re-align my gutters! The one (1) star rating is at least five (5) stars too high! read more

I could not be happier with the gutter cleaning service provided by Ned Stevens. I requested a free quote, the customer service guy called me within minutes and gave me a quote over the phone, after I provided him with a little information. A few days later they arrived in the pouring down rain and started cleaning the gutters. Forty minutes later he was done. I have a 3,100 sq/ft home with two levels, and the gutters were pretty clogged in my opinion. We were not home at the time, but were able to observe on the security cameras around the home. I thought to myself, there is no way he is done, no way he could have done that job that quick in the rain. I arrived home later that evening and checked his work. To my amazement, the job was complete and all gutters, and downspouts were cleared of debris. He even cleaned the sticks and debris from my roof that would have ended up in the gutters later down the road. He also cleaned up all the debris and everything he knocked down from the cleaning. I am at a mere shock to see the negative reviews below because I have been using Ned Stevens for the past couple of years and have nothing but good things to say as I've never had any issues with them whatsoever. I have been on a yearly diamond service plan with them where they come to my house to clean my gutters 6 times a year since I have a lot of trees surrounding my house and the team shows up, rings my door bell, cleans and flushes all of the gutters and leaders on the home and on top of that for free, they blow off the roof and resecure anything thats loose. With my busy schedule between work and my twin boys, Ned Stevens gives me a peace of mind when it comes to my gutters and its one less thing I have to worry about in my busy life and the best part is, I dont even have to be home for it when the service is performed which is ideal for me. This company works hard, from the team who comes to clean the gutters to the customer service on the phone. They all are a pleasure to deal with and are very friendly. They work hard and take pride in what they do and most importantly, understand the customers needs. Just to give you one of many great examples of how great they are, just a few weeks ago, as scheduled, they came to clean my gutters right in time since the gutters were completely full just in time for the rain to arrive. They did a fantastic job and left me a receipt. When I got home from work, I saw my gutters were sparking clean and were flushed as well. Well, that night, we had a lot of rain and when I woke up in the morning, my gutters were filled again with new leaves and debris. I called Ned Stevens and told them that my gutters are backing up and I know that the service was just done a day ago but I need them cleaned again since they got filled again from the heavy leaves that came down from the rain.Let me just tell you how wonderful the customer service agent was who I spoke to was. She said dont worry about it and that they will come out again(the same day I called) at no charge. They didnt have to do that and if they were money hungry or a bad company then they would have simply charged me again. And honestly, I would have been happy to pay again because they didnt do anything wrong. My gutters were just filled again with new debris. But they gave me that peace of mind and gave me worry free service and came out within a few hours the same day I called in the pouring rain and provided me with a complete gutter cleaning service like they do as always but didnt charge me a penny for it. Who does anything for free nowadays anyways? So, BRAVO Ned Stevens. I recommend them to everyone. Almost all my neighbors on my street uses them and they are just as happy as I am. read more

Horrible - Find someone local and save yourself a lot of $$ and aggravation. We approved them for a Spring Cleaning, charged us a reduced rate of $130, the guy spent 10 minutes here. I went outside and asked if he was done, and his response, Yeah, all i need to do is hose it out, and collected a small bag of debris. Fine, after realizing we really don't need the 2x year service, my husband cancelled for the Fall. They show up anyway in the Winter, not fall, while we weren't home... no courtesy phone call, no written contract. I come home and call the office and they insist they have it in their recorded phone calls that we verbally agreed to a contract... I send the workers home who completed more than half of the job. They cover their asses by having everything recorded on their end, nothing written, and supposedly sent something to an old email account?? So now they threaten to put us in collections - according to the law, you can send them a dime a month. Look at the other reviews on this site, all similar situations. The crews that come out do a good job. the cleanings are good and they clean up after themselves leaving no visible mess. The sales pitch however for annual contracts or ongoing cleanings that I do not really need are getting old. Every time I call them I have to sit through a 5 minutes explanation of what they offer. they make it very difficult to get a word in and when i do manage to do so, they pick right up and say "but you need to understand." I would recommend them for cleaning and maintaining your gutters but prepare to be extremely annoyed by pushy sales people every time you call them. read more

Always very efficient and only thing is they can't schedule an exact date and time...and I finally understood as in some seasons including winter you need to have above freezing temperatures and other factors before the job can be done. Workers very efficient. Low pressure sales on the other plans and now added protection against all gutter issues they will fix for free. Surprised at the range of ratings of others' experiences but a few times when I had issues with the billing before the service was done they refunded the money and then charged me AFTER the service was done which I felt was more logical and fair. Techs come in professional looking trucks, uniforms, are very thorough and once again the customer service/sales/administrative offices are helpful and quite willing to do an on call service but I have never felt they kept chasing me to sign up for a plan. Here's putting in a good word for Jack Alom whose very polite and professional handling of my calling in to pay after the service was a great example of a low key professional who really laid the facts and plans on the table but respected my need to defer deciding on a plan until after the holidays also without trying to close on me '10 times'. NED STEVENS GUTTER CLEANERS is so maddening!! They offer NO personalized service and are like talking to robots on the phones. They all read from the same script and do not care about any individual issues you might have. They pride themselves on the fact that you don't have to be home when they do the work, but do not take into consideration that some people ARE at home and would like to know when people will be outside their windows and walking on their roof! They give you a week-long window for when they will come do the work, which I think is ridiculously long. Most contracting companies can give you an exact day, just not an exact time. I had flooding in the garage from the recent heavy rain. The person who took my call told me for $100 extra they would come next day. The service is only $139 so I thought that was too much. They neglected to mention that for $47 they'd come in 2 days, which I would have happily done. I am STILL waiting for service. And one last thing -- they take your credit card # when you make the service appt and process it, days before they ever do the work. I never knew of a company to take your money before they deliver services. Next time I will look for a local company who is responsive to individual needs. read more

Called to schedule an cleaning, agreed to the price, asked when it would be done as I would like to be there especially the first time. Was told, some time next week, between Monday and Friday. Asked if the guys could call me first, no was the answer. Now, when the guys showed up they didn't do the job the first time, I do have gutter guards on the house. They wanted to pull them off and throw them away, ah, no. Asked for an appointment again, just which day, no. When they showed up a second time they explained the problem which I understand. They ended up just taking the end guards off and cleaning the blockage. The guys did an outstanding job cleaning the gutters but the scheduling is definitely not a 21st century operation. with all the communication equipment we all carry and have access to you should be able to make an appointment even if is just for a specific day. I've been using this company for almost a decade now. First the good news. They do what they promise and clean my gutters efficiently. You do NOT need to be home when they do the job, so I don't know why a previous reviewer complained about that. I was on a billed plan with them for a while, but cut back because I really didn't see the need for multiple cleanings per year. 3 max is enough, IMO, though they'll try to convince you otherwise. Which brings me to the bad news. This company engages in annoying hard sell practices. They'll call you constantly to sales pitch you on a service plan, fast talk you out of cutting back on scheduled visits, and even made it difficult for me when I wouldn't renew a service plan by continuing to bill my card well after I had several discussions with them to cancel my account. Ever been to a timeshare spiel? Ned Stevens takes similar tactics and won't take no for an answer. The last time I called them for a gutter cleaning, the CS rep gave me a hard time when I said I wanted 1 fall cleaning. Then they wanted me to pay up front when they've always historically left the bill in my door. I told them that's how I always paid and I was a 10 year customer, to which the CS rep said, "Let me talk to my manager." I'm not kidding, 3 seconds later he came back on the phone and said, "fine." If there was a ZERO STAR rating, I would have clicked that! It's comical that these guys are in a "service business" and yet have the absolute worst service I have ever seen. I called them to have my gutters cleaned and as a 1st time customer they tried selling me on an annual plan. I told them that if I was happy with their service I would consider it. I was told they would get to me in a few days. 4 days later I called to see when the service would be done and was simply told over and over "as soon as possible but i can't give you any time frame". So let me get this straight- I should wait until a random day you guys decide to show up and you can't even tell me what day I might be scheduled for??? In what other service business can you tell a customer "i have no clue when i will get to it, just wait"??? I cancelled the pending appt. with them and asked them to lose my number and when I did so they have the audacity to say "at least we were honest when you called today and told you we don't know when it will be done and that is what our customers love about us". SERIOUSLY??? why would any customer with half a brain want to use a service based company with that model????
