Should one come to the beach and expect to find quality Southern cooking? Maybe, maybe not. But fried chicken and collard greens and skillet fried cornbread are always a must. And the beach is no exception. Thus, I found Nectar in my Yelp search and knew I would be making a visit. I will mention that I loved their outdoor seating area, just secluded away enough that you don't feel like you're right by a major road or the parking lot (though you are near both). Though if weather did not permit, there is more than enough indoor seating for a individual-couple-group. When I commit, I commit. And the half fried chicken, with two sides was that commitment. I knew I might have regrets, but the joy of tasting that delicious meal would not be one of them. And yes, I knew I would still order dessert. I love for food to be of quality, but I also hold a high standard in regards to presentation. Plating is a art form in and of itself. Here, they check all the boxes. Each item comes out perfectly framed and set as if they are daring you not to take a photo (which inevitably someone will). Everything was cooked to perfection. And that is coming from someone who grew up eating fried chicken that went from raw to egg bath to flour breading to Crisco in a skillet. There were no shortcuts in that house. I topped it off (though honestly I was already topped off) with banna pudding. Also delicious. I stumbled my way to the car, as the food coma was setting in. But I have a clear memory of how amazing my visit here was. I look forward to visiting their new location when I return to HH. read more

It's been a couple of years ago we went. In that time, they greatly improved EVERYTHING:)! Parking easy, big dining room & bar seats with booths and no noise. Menu is much better offering many nice choices. We went for lunch with a separate lunch menu with specials. Started with a number of great soup choices. We really enjoyed our dinner at Nectar. The place has a cool, almost upscale diner feel. I started with the Georgia Collins and my wife had the lavender lemonade mocktail, both were great. The deviled eggs with orange marmalade were a favorite. We didn't have a reservation and got in fine, but I'd recommend one when it's busy. We had the crab cake dinner and the surf and turf trio. Everything came out looking nice and tasted good, though the steak was a little heavy on seasoning. Service stayed friendly even after we got switched to a new server. Ended with the apple cinnamon (seasonal flavors) bread pudding with ice cream on top, which hit the spot. Strong drinks, good food, and a relaxed, enjoyable time. read more

We went twice on this trip. Food was excellent. Service in the bar area was disappointingly slow when the restaurant was busy.

Mixed review on this place. I started with a Bloody Mary from the bar. Great drink and great service. They have three versions which is cool and a bit unique. The place was full but not too crowded so I was surprised that service was a bit spotty. The food came out quick but the guy delivering it sort of threw the plates down. I don't even know if he realized how impolite it was. The waitress was very friendly when we saw her. Not sure what was going on. Okay to the food. I personally love duck so I got the duck hash. I probably should have sent it back but just did not feel like dealing with it. The duck was gamey and it came off like it was prepared days before. Now we also had the huevos rancheros and it was outstanding. I did have them add the sausage on the side as well as some avocado. I have to say one of the best I have had in recent history. We came to Hilton head from Virginia and were looking for something good to eat. This place was it for us. The ambiance was really warm and inviting. Breakfast Lunch, Dinner, you can't go wrong. The Baked goat cheese dip was 15/10, hush puppies were crisp with a warm center. Cheddar burger was everything and more. My kids had the kid Mac and cheese and that was a generous portion for the kids menu. And then the breakfast sandwich was great as well! Sooooo.. the wife and myself have been sleeping on this place. We have been innBeaufort, SC since 2021 and while am not sure how long this restaurant has been operating, I am mad that it took us this long to dine here. The food was perfect . The devil eggs were delicious as well as the grits. The service was great and the ambiance of the place was cozy (lighting, sound, decor, etc..). Holy moly, this place is good! The spicy chicken sandwich (yes, it's fried) has so many flavors and textures, I can't even write about them all. Beautifully spicy, a tiny bit sweet (but not much--I don't like sweet), dill pickles--yum! The fry chips are so good too! Cut like a thick chip, but cooked like a fry and perfectly salted. A great set up with indoor and outdoor tables. The menu is broad and tries to elevate itself above typical American southern food with offerings like ahi tuna. However, they served my kids raw chicken...and the manager seemed embarrassed but then the server left the meal on our check. We had it removed but overall it's hard to trust somewhere that gave your child raw food given the inherent health risks. Ruins your appetite a bit. SERG's new Nectar location is a sure bet for success. We stopped in day 3 for brunch at the bar and loved it. Service was superb as was our cocktails, soups, and sandwiches. The She Crab and Chicken Pot Pie soups were hot and chock full of flavors. The Dave Breakfast sandwich was hot and delicious - same for their Nectar Cheddar Burger. Visited early Sunday for breakfast on our way home. Party of 5 - 4 adults and 1 child. We weren't offered a child's menu, asked for one and finally had to go back to the hostess to get it ourselves. The food was amazing. Loved all our dishes. The decor is lovely and the outdoor seating area is perfect for HHI. We give this a 5 for food and mood. Most of our party drinks water everywhere. It's tough enough to get a refill, but when the glass is small - it's impossible. We finally received a water carafe for our refills - pro tip- ask for one at the beginning. The service was the worst we've had on the island. We can only hope the server was new to this type of service Job. We would give the service a 2. It took forever to be served and to place our order. Tables who were seated after us in her area were served first and orders were placed before we had the chance. Our kids meal was incorrect and the runner disappeared so quickly, we didn't have the chance to refuse it. We improvised with what we had, but making a hungry 8 year old wait is tough on everyone. A manager came by and did comp the incorrect food. Don't know if the server knew that or not, she didn't offer. Hopefully our experience was just a one off. By far the best place for dinner on Hilton Head! I love their breakfast, but I love the dinner more. Great service, solid beer and drink menu and a large menu that has something for everyone. The Hilton head location is much nicer and high-end than the Bluffton one, the inside is elegant, trendy and romantic, it's a good choice for a date night. I am really getting into their selection of local beer and love the new Blonde that they brew locally! If you are looking for a nice dinner on the Island, Nectar should be the top choice. read more

Too bougie for its own good?? An excellent place for adults but not for kids?? My wife and I dined for breakfast today (9/19/2025) with our two little boys. She and I loved our food, but we spent a lot on our sons meals only to find out the syrup was this real Vermont style syrup and when we asked for whipped cream for my sons waffle, they served us a sweet potato based whipped cream, which our amazing server brought us a sample of... I ate it and didn't mind, but my kids didn't want it, even after a little taste. I asked if they had a can of Redi-Whip, but no, so I left the restaurant and drove down the street to Kroger and bought a can. We went here for breakfast on the way back to the airport. Although our time was rushed, we had a fabulous breakfast. The omelets were delicious and cooked perfectly. They were not "fried tasting" which so many are or underdone. The hash browns (which we normally don't eat) were the best we ever tasted. Not greasy or heavy. My husband had the Eggs Benedict which was also very good. And did we mention the hush puppies -- not to be missed! Our only complaint was that it took a bit for the food to arrive. We were quite rushed, but the manager intervened and the food came out pronto after his nudging. Plenty of parking in the plaza which is a plus. Can't wait to return when we have more time. The deviled eggs are fantastic. Best I've ever had. The brussel sprouts were also very good. Hush puppies were okay. Heavy batter and not a unique flavor to them. I had the short rib and it was mediocre at best. For the price it was very disappointing as the roast we make at home is much better. The creamed collards we're not good. The mashed potatoes were fine. The chicken wings are not sauced, you have to add it yourself. They were fine. Service was okay, hard to get our waitresses attention at times. Nice atmosphere. Based on the reviews and pictures it sounds like it shines for breakfast, but I don't know if I feel that way about dinner. read more

June 30,2024 Sunday afternoon We came here after church for brunch. The number one reason we chose this place is that the Nectar in Bluffton is our favorite restaurant in the area. So it's a natural than to go to the one in Hilton Head. As a drink I got a blueberry mojito. It wasn't great in fact I couldn't even finish it. Hubby and I shared a dozen wings with peach sauce they tasted good. Next I had the special of the shrimp melt with the nectar salad. We shared a banana cream pie. The service was great and sitting outside we were surprised more people weren't enjoying the beautiful day outdoors. After we got home we both went back to bed didn't feel great after eating. We have eaten outside at the other location without issue. The food is definitely different. I love you Nectar but all my return visits will be down the road in Bluffton instead. read more

We came here for the first time for breakfast, and my friend and I ordered the biscuit basket. The buttermilk biscuits were good, very tangy. The fresh fruit compote was wonderful. But the best part was the sweet potato biscuits. Great flavor, a little bit, sweet, really fabulous with butter. My husband had scrambled eggs and sausage, and he said it was really great. They had a huge air unit working in the corner but where we were seated, there was no air flow. Service: she was nice enough. It was the minimum needed and she did that. We love the fact that they have booths. Their she crab soup was the best I've ever had. I'm a foodie with an affinity for she crab, so this is really saying something. My husband had the fried shrimp & chicken with fries and slaw. It was very good. Such a large portion we took one large chicken tender and made it into a sandwich the next day. We had a pretty good dinner here, but my hopes were higher! We shared the Cobb salad with garlic ranch dressing. It was pretty good. Lots of chicken on the salad. We had hoped to try the deviled eggs, but they were out. for our entree, we shared the surf and turf trio. The shrimp were overcooked and under-seasoned. The steak was a little under-seasoned, and there was a lot of it that we couldn't chew. The winner on the plate was definitely the crab cake. Very rich and delicious. I MIGHT come back and try other things for dinner. I would definitely come back to try breakfast foods and see how that is. read more
