The creamed potatoes were creamy, buttery's and not too salty. 3.75 Stars - Pan seared Redfish with cube fried potatoes, sauté green beans, beurre blanc sauce and top w a Chilean tomato salsa. The redfish was moist and tasty but I wish it had a little bit seared on it for a crunchy factor. The cubed potatoes were good but nothing to write about. The fresh sauté green beans could have a bit more garlic butter. 3.5 Stars Side dish: Deep Fried Brussel Sprouts. Hot, steamy and fresh. Has a slight crunch on the exterior leaves and was seasoned w a sprinkle of salt. 3.75 Dessert: Crème Brûlée and coffee. The crème brûlée crust was crunchy and the vanilla egg custard was good and smooth. It would have been better was a scoop of fresh whipped cream to go with the fresh fruit and crunchy layer. 5 Stars - French pressed Italian coffee. The coffee was a highlight of the dessert. It was hot, fresh, and strong. Just like an Italian coffee should be. It was between an espresso and caffe' Americano. Our, server, Andrew did a wonderful job on the coffee! I won't complain about service since it's a holiday. My server was actually pretty good but it did take a while for my food to come out. I'm glad I finally got to try the brunch at Hal and Mal's and look forward to trying other dishes.

To get to this location which is on the southeast corner of Highway 80 and 49 in Jackson, Mississippi, turn in like you're entering the Sutherland's Home Improvement store, but then hang a hard right and you'll see it straight ahead. Turn in to the second driveway for their parking lot or drive through. The entrance has a ramp but could be challenging for some people in wheelchairs or who are handicapped. I have some family members who would have difficulty getting in. See the picture I posted for reference, and you can determine if you can get in or need to stick to the drive through. After looking over their menu, I finally decided to get the chicken finger tacos with the chipotle ranch sauce and pico de gallo. They are made with flour tortillas which I found to be rather blah (I'm used to home-made or at least really good flour tortillas in my hometown which is 95% Hispanic). Thankfully, the chicken fingers were generous, hot, and tasty. I would have enjoyed a bit more of the sauce. It was not spicy at all. The pico de gallo was passing. Again, I've had the best elsewhere, so I'm a bit picky. Overall, the food was pretty good. It was a reasonable price. The food was served in styrofoam, disposable containers. The drink station had soft drinks and fresh brewed iced tea. The young lady who took my order was friendly, as was the manager who offered to clear my table of the tray and empty food container when I had finished. I would try Zaxby's again, but I would want to get something other than the tacos next time.
