We stopped at Northwest wild products, found ourselves, indulging our self with their dungeon list…read moreCrabb appetizer, crab soup,... Can you tell a theme going on here... Crabcakes. Finished off with fish and chips and a fish taco! A wonderful place to eat with fresh fish generally provided from what they're able to gather that day. What an awesome flavor fresh fish have compared to store-bought fish. Although there was a little bit of a weight to get in, it went quickly, and I would highly recommend waiting.

No! This place was…read morereally disappointing. Came here based on reviews, but I. would caution anyone to steer clear of this place. It started with flat champagne drinks. That's just a fail, and it suggests a place that doesn't bother keeping things fresh. It kind of went downhill from there. We were looking for nice fresh fish and chips, wile we were out along the coast. We live near the coast ourselves, and are no strangers to good seafood. We decided to do the Cod and the Halibut fish and chips. While the halibut seemed fresh, the cod was waxy and looked old, and frankly i found it somehow mildly nauseating. I couldn't bring myself to teat it. The batter was crsipy, but lacked seasoning and tasted really flat (cardboard?). Aside from that, the coleslaw seemed pretty old soggy. Gross. Not impressed at all - some of the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Some people may like this kind of food - but i will actively avoid this place the next time in Astoria. Hard pass. i'm nauseous just thinking back to my experience here. Could hardly get away fast enough...

The ingredients on the sandwiches were very fresh. I could have used a little more sauce on mine. However, the potatoe salad was the star of the show. Definitely tangy and i loved the pickles in it. I ended up going back to get a togo order of it! The inside was very cute and had a decent amount of space! Would recommend!

Very popular since most of the onsite seating were occupied (6/20/25). No surprise after glancing at their menu, easily I could gravitate towards several of their sandwiches. Lots of merch and deli items are also available to select from. I ended up ordering a half pound of proscuitto (0.52 lb for $17.67). This was carefully sliced thin, packaged, and wrapped carefully, which was duly noted and greatly appreciated. We paused at window counter seats and had to sample the purchase before departing. Absolutely delicious! Helped elevate a meal the next day too. I may have to return to indulge in one of their Italian sandwiches. Update: we did return to dine onsite at the same window counter seats (6/22/25). The Homie had the Hot Meatball ($14). Meaty with zesty sauce. I had the Salami Panini ($12), which reminded me of a fave Italian panini at Irwin's Bakery & Cafe in Seattle. Both were fantastic, hit the spot, clean plate club worthy, and definitely no takeout boxes needed! Gaetano's Market & Deli, a terrific find in Astoria!

Not sure where the one star folks went, but it wasn't here. Josephson's is in a compact historic…read morebuilding (in the Register of Historical Places), and has been operating since 1920. They have a variety of smoked local seafood (both canned and vacuum sealed). There is salmon done half a dozen ways, sturgeon, scallops, shrimp.... There are also jams, which I sadly couldn't get because TSA considers them liquids, and I was there on a Sunday, so I couldn't send them to myself Folks are friendly and helpful, and of course, everything is delicious. Yes, you need to expect to pay for quality (fresh, local and hand-crafted), but I think you'll find it worth the price.

The Grand Dame of the Columbia River Smokery, Astoria, Ore…read more - There are cathedrals of salt, smoke, and time, and then there is Josephson's Smokehouse, a cedar-shingled shrine on the edge of the Pacific Northwest where briny fog meets hardwood ember. Here, the art of curing is not a craft but a calling. Lunch is a liturgy. The clam chowder arrives like a maritime memory-velvety, studded with tender-cheeked clams, each spoonful a foghorn in a bowl. The salmon burger, grilled to a rosy medium, defies the dry, crumbly fates of lesser patties; it is juicy, lush, and dressed with a tartar that brightens like a lighthouse flash. But the true epiphany? The lox on a bagel--silk-smooth, brined with the precision of a jeweler, draped over cream cheese that yields like fresh snow. It is not merely eaten; it is contemplated. We depart with coolers stuffed with their cold-smoked Sockeye salmon-amber-gold, peppery, almost buttery in its melt-destined for Manhattan bagels and late-night toasts. It travels like treasure. Yet Josephson's soul isn't found in the smokehouse alone-it lives in the warm, unhurried grace of its counter staff, each one wonderfully kind. Against the coldness of algorithms, this is hospitality as rebellion. Five stars? Insufficient. This is a constellation.
