I had first come to Nebu a little over a month ago to look for new jewelry for one of my piercings. While looking through the jewelry, I noticed the 5 flash pieces for $45 (which is actually more like $120 with the $75 shop service fee) and so I inquired about the flash deal. I had mentioned wanting to get one of her tiny flash pieces on my upper chest, and pointed to the area to show what I meant. The owner, Priscilla, agreed she would be able to tattoo that area with no extra charge. She had explained that the sternum and neck area have thinner skin and take longer, which would require an extra charge, but agreed that she could do the upper chest piece along as part of the flash bundle, for no extra charge. That was the very reason I booked the appt, was to get that tiny tattoo on my upper chest (to be clear, below my collar bones and above my breast area. Nowhere near the sternum or collar bones.) I was so excited to support a woman owned/operated tattoo shop and even told my friends about the 5 tattoos for $120 deal. Upon arrival to my appt (which I had arrived 10 min early for as I do with all appts) I was informed I had only 1 hour to pick out the flash pieces I wanted from the flash book, get them placed, and then tattooed. When booking online, it said "60 minutes +" but was not made explicit that it's actually *just* 1 hour. The "+" is misleading. The whole appt felt weirdly rushed, and it made me anxious, knowing I had to choose 5 permanent pieces so quickly, which is the last thing you want to do when getting tattooed. I then mentioned the upper chest piece, and our previous conversation, to which she said she had "completely forgotten." I guess Priscilla changed her mind...because now she said that upper chest piece alone would be an extra $75 due to the placement. I was surprised, as we had discussed this about a month ago, but she now conveniently didn't remember..? In an effort to be understanding, I decided to get 5 flash pieces on my arms and fingers instead. I was disappointed and annoyed as the service I had booked for was now going to be $75 more than what was previously discussed ($120.) It felt like a strange cash grab. Priscilla did offer to do the upper chest flash piece, but for $75 extra, which I declined to do. When she began tattooing one of my finger tattoos, she received a phone call that she had her receptionist answer and put on speakerphone. During the phone call, she completed my other finger tattoo, which ended up being crooked. I was surprised she answered a personal call while tattooing me, and wonder if that's why my finger tattoo was crooked, maybe she was distracted... It's important to mention that before tattooing she had fixed the stencil on both of my finger tattoos, as they were both placed somewhat crooked. When tattooing, one of them came out perfect, the other tilting to the right. It was not my finger anatomy that caused the crooked slant of the line, it was the placement, and the 1 hour limit does not create an environment where clients can say "no, this is still crooked" because there's such a rush to get it all done. I didn't feel I could ask her to place the stencil a 3rd time. I felt rushed and uncomfortable. Her next tattoo client was already waiting when we finished, and she quickly got up and thanked me for coming, and moved off to cleaning up her space. I understand having a full schedule and needing to be cognizant of time, but this rushing did not create a space for me to be able to say "hey, I think this is crooked, can you fix it?" Getting tattooed (I am heavily tattooed on my entire body, so I've been around many shops and professionals in my day) is already a vulnerable experience. This 1 hour time limit felt like it did not take into account the natural questions, doubts, and stencil placements/tattoo touch up that might be required during any given appt. To top all of this off - the receptionist, who I believe is named Nico, was flat out rude. She had an attitude that was not welcoming. In fact, she seemed cold, uninterested and annoyed at my questions. Which is odd for someone who works within the tattooing industry - a place where there should be encouragement for clients to take their time in picking out something they want to be permanently tattooed on them. Questions should be encouraged too, and enough time should be allotted for that. Her rude attitude alone made me uninterested in returning to the shop. The reason I'm giving this review 3 stars is that despite what I've explained above, Priscilla was kind and conversational, the shop was clean and nicely decorated, and the line work done on most of my tattoos were crisp. That deserves acknowledgment. However, her talent felt overshadowed by the lack of transparency with tattooing placement options and their price points, and lack of professionalism as she answered a personal call, leading to my finger tattoo coming out crooked. read more

TLDR: PERFECT TINY TATTOOS, period. (I got 5) Found this little gem scrolling on Instagram so of course I was a bit skeptical-- I booked a 10am appointment and Pricilla was already inside working and ready! Her studio is SO CUTE but more importantly SO CLEAN and organized-- I didn't even look at the flash before I arrived and there were SO MANY OPTIONS. I settled on five and she has memorized the custom designs so as soon as I figured it out, she got to work. I have multiple tattoos but no single needle and I expected it to be painful (shading/coloring is great for me, I always lose my shit when an artist is filling in the details) but she has a super steady, light hand and doesn't apply more pressure than what's needed. After talking with her I felt comfortable and really trusted her artistic eye for placement (I'm hella indecisive). I know these are super fine lines and will need to be touched up and I CANT WAIT to go back!! Highly recommend and I've probably been tattooed in almost 10 shops from CA to Florida but this was the best experience. I am from San Francisco and her shop is about a 15min drive to Pacifica and it was totally worth it. First of all, can we just talk about the promotion? 5 Tiny Tattoos for $45! & the incredible selection to choose from. So that's what sold me, first! & I decided to make 2 appointments because I hadn't gotten any ink in a few years. So at this point I'm soo excited. The day of my appointment, I get to Nebu, & am greeted by my fabulous artist, Pricilla, as she was working with the previous client. The moment I walked in I got the best vibes, laughs, connection & overall I felt so so comfortable. There's something incredibly special about being & supporting a woman owned business. A safe space-best to describe it. I didn't even realize when my session was over because the convo was just so good. LOL Now onto the shop- beautiful, welcoming, clean & festive. Super cozy & warm. Pricilla really puts her heart into her studio/shop. It shows. Everything is prepped & ready for your appointment so you're out of there happy & in a timely manner. Warning to those coming here. I came to Nebu in Pacifica the end of Jan in hopes of saving my nose piercing (didn't get piercing done here) from being embedded. I asked for a longer post, but was told that I only had 2 options - to get a larger diamond to try and allow my skin to heal under the diamond vs over or to remove my piercing and start over in 6 months. I went the route of removal because Priscilla said my piercing was infected and that she would recommend removal as I could potential grow a keloid. I didn't think it was infected, but hey she's supposed to be the professional. She tried to remove it using her fingers and tongs and was quite abrasive, but I didn't know any better. She told me that it would be painful. So I prepared for pain. She also had the tongs sitting in my cheek, which was burning my cheek. Yes I told her. Anyways, all this to say that she tried pulling the piercing out, but didn't try unscrewing it. I didn't know whether or not it was threaded or threadless, but there was never conversation to ask what kind of jewelry we were dealing with. I would have thought as a professional if you don't know you'd try both route instead of just straight manhandling as the first choice. Since she couldn't remove it, she told me to go to a clinic aka urgent care. I spent hours at urgent care just to be seen for maybe 15 mins because it was as easy as screwing off the diamond without causing additional trauma to the piercing. To top it all off, the doctor said the piercing WASN'T infected. You might ask why I didn't just try taking it off myself. Well, I trusted Priscilla's words because again, she's supposed to be a professional and my hands were dirty from frantically trying to find an urgent care to remove this before it gets worse. She also said to stop using my 0.9% saline solution & h2ocean spray, which if you know is one of the top rated solutions for piercings, and instead buy the product from her shop... All this to say that be careful where you go and maybe get a few opinions because now I have a damaged nose with potential infection, scarring and keloid and a fat urgent care bill waiting for me. Priscilla didn't charge me because she couldn't get it removed, but that's the last of my worries. I walked out with a huge bloody bubble that wasn't anywhere near where it is now when I first arrived and severe trust issues with piercing "professionals". To add to the anger and trauma from this experience, I went to another reputable piercer and showed them my pics and they said it could have been salvaged with a longer bar. Exactly what I came in for. Sigh. UPDATE to owner response: You're completely over exaggerating the interaction. I vocalized to you that I wasn't in any pain or discomfort as I had nurtured the irritation bump down when I came in. There also wasn't any blood when I came in, but there definitely was when I left. I was just nervous that the skin was growing over so I felt like a longer bar was needed. There wasn't communication about the type of jewelry that was used. What was stated after the fact was blame on the original piercer that he used the wrong diamond size "too small" and that he jammed the diamond into the bar as they were not the "correct size", which in fact was not true. I left my appointment really disappointed. First of all, the deal was 5 for $45 and the 6th tattoo is free if you book for December or January, which I did December. Yet I only received 5 tattoos, Sheila didn't even mention a 6th. Very weird. Secondly, the booking site does mention a "tattoo service fee" but doesn't mention how much it is. It was $75, which to me is crazy. You can't really call it 5 for $45 deal if the total is going to be $120 before tip. Call it what it is, it's a 5 for $120 deal. Don't surprise your customers when it's time to pay. Thirdly, to top it off, Sheila clicks on the highest tip percentage when it's time to pay. This was veryyyyy weird to me and sneaky, it's like she expects you to just pay without noticing she did that. And lastly, her line work really disappointed me on my tiny tattoos. Mainly the straight lines not being straight enough on 3/5 of my tattoos :( I was so upset at myself for falling for this "5 for $45" scam. I wish I never came here. read more
