I've followed Tina's work for a while, but when I finally decided to get a tattoo, I saw she was in the U.S. and reached out right away. She sent over a quote, I put down a $200 deposit to lock in the appointment, and that was that. It was my first tattoo, so I went in not really knowing what to expect. Tina immediately made it easy - super warm, easy to talk to, and genuinely attentive. She gave honest input, suggested tweaks where it made sense, and really took the time to understand what I wanted. We narrowed it down to a few designs, and she printed them in different sizes so we could play with placement. That part was actually really helpful! I didn't feel rushed at all. Once everything felt right, we got started. Tina walked me through what she was doing as she set up, and even told me when she was about to begin, which I appreciated. The tattoo itself was way less painful than I'd built it up to be. She's incredibly precise and has a really light touch. Worked with Avis who knew what he was doing. I decided to chose a piece with Chinese characters and wanted an artist who can give me some calligraphy options, and he did just that. He was able to take the characters I wanted and gave me a bunch of options to chose from. I got quotes from other places but knowing what I know now, they would've taken the piece I had chosen and took it at face value. Avis was able to give me his advice and opinions about it. He was precise, making sure the placement of the tattoo was correct and confirmed before he started the process. It looks amazing and I get compliments all the time. I'd have to say the communication piece could've been better. I understand they may be busy but I had to follow up a few times. I have been fascinated with fine line color tattoos for a while now, so when the time came to find a tattoo artist that could bring my ideas to life, I was so happy to find Tina Choi at Hello Tattoo. All of the artists at HT have impressive Instagram portfolios, but when I saw Tina's work, I knew that I wanted her to work on me. Quick side note on the Hello Tattoo studio ... it is super duper cute. Very sweet aesthetic and more importantly, clean and well maintained. My first tattoo with Tina was a butterfly/flower combination. I didn't feel like I gave her much in the way of direction for what I wanted other than a few scattered elements, but when I arrived at the studio and she showed me her design, I knew right then and there that it was exactly what I wanted. The design was well thought out, and she was very cognizant of stencil placement and adjustments. I had been told that color tattoos tend to hurt more and since I was getting a watercolor style tattoo, I was prepared for the worst. It helps that I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but all in all it hurt less than other tattoos I've gotten. And the result was absolutely beautiful. I went back to Tina last week to get a second color tattoo. My request this time was to design music (curved staff and notes), a meaningful lyric, and a multi watercolor cloud, all the while incorporating my existing non-fine line tattoo into the design. As with the first time, the design presentation was very well thought out, and she made additional adjustments while I was at the studio to get it just right. Tina is very careful with placement and reviewing all elements with you prior to committing with ink. This is very reassuring, as I was given many opportunities to confirm the piece. As before, the inking process was tolerable, but Tina is also fast and applies ink skillfully. Fine line color tattoos are difficult to do, and not something that a lot of tattoo artists can do well. It is certainly an investment into one's well being. With Tina, I feel like every dollar spent was well, well worth it. I'm already thinking about what my next one with her will be. read more

I have seen Avis twice for tattoos and each time he delivered. I get compliments all the time on my jellyfishes and I mean, ALL the time. My husband even notices that every where we go, multiple people tell me how much they love it. I contacted HKTina after seeing her great work on Instagram with small tattoos. We agreed on $600 (I agreed because I trusted her work after consulting with other tattoo artists, who all said it shouldn't cost more than $180), with expectations of her delivering good work and customer service. Here are some overall experiences I had: - Beautiful, cute shop. - After three attempts at applying the stencil, I still wasn't really happy with it, but Tina said it was okay and that it would cover up my scar. Upon inspecting the final work, I found it to be uneven. - During the session, she wouldn't stop talking to her coworker, and she was the only one talking while doing the work. Her coworker was listening to her while vaping so close to me during my session. - At the end of the session, she made me wait for 15 minutes so she could take a picture afterward. She didn't even offer any drinks and continued to chat with her coworker. - She made a mistake on my tattoo and said that it would go away; however, it didn't (pictures below: Session on 3/31/24 and healed picture on 4/21/24). - When paying, after I paid, that's when I saw a note on the counter that said, 'Feel free to get a drink.' Oh well, too late now. - She didn't even consult with me on what colors/shades I prefer. - Healing Result: Check the pictures below for your reference. If you still choose this place, please do your research. This tattoo was done on 3/31/2024. I've tried to reach out for a solution and I have also declined the "FREE" touchup due to the poor work ethic. However, she's refusing to give me a refund citing several factors (check the screenshot). You don't have to read all of the factors that she listed, just read factor #1, which is not true. If a 1.5x1.5 tattoo with a "FREE" touch-up costs $600, then 1 session is $300 x 2. Other tattoo artists don't give you a "FREE" touch-up but charge you the highest amount of $180. $180 x 2 is $360. So, it's either $600 for 1 session and "FREE touch-up" with this kind of work and customer service or $360 for 2 sessions with a different artist. I love this shop. They have such cute aesthetics. When you walk in, it's not like a typical tattoo shop filled with dark and gloomy colors. There's feathers, colored couches, a massive gumball machine with post treatment prizes. When you walk in you can pick a drink from the refrigerator complementary and they are delicious. Onto the tattooing: Tina was my tattoo guru that placed matching heart thumbprint tattoos on my partner and I. As well as putting dates for meaningful birth years on me. She did does an excellent job and wants to make sure that you're happy with the design and measurement before starting the process. She has such attention to detail and is so sweet. This tattoo shop is like a hidden gem! I highly recommend this place if you are looking to get a tattoo because the atmosphere is amazing, the staff is so sweet, and the tattoo artists are bomb! They do have parking in the back so don't worry about finding parking. When you walk in, the staff is super nice and they offer you a free drink. Right now during covid, they do allow one person to come with you during your session. The only policy is that they do not want you to talk to other customers that you do not know, which is understandable. After you get tattooed, you get a coin that goes into a "bubble gum machine" that allows you to get a free gift, super cute. They are appointment only, so they do not take walk ins! I made an appointment with Avis (highly recommend!) and he was so amazing during this process. He did send me designs for my tattoo the night before and the day of the tattoo, we did talk about how to make the design more beautiful and more like me. He really took the time to listen to what I wanted, what I really want included in the tattoo, and he took his time. He does specialize in fine line tattooing and the tattoo he did for me was amazing, I couldn't ask for anything more. I love that he was patient with me, took the time to know what I wanted, and he has a really gentle touch when it comes to tattooing that you can easily fall asleep while getting tatted. Great place and very clean. I think it is pretty welcoming and perfect for your first tattoo. My experience was decent, but once I came home and waited for it to heal for a few days, I began to see a lot imperfections. Obviously I could not see since its on my back, but my friends did come with me, so they trusted the artist as well. Not until after the tattoo was done they found the symmetry didn't look right. My tattoo is simplistic, but needed to be very accurate since its the same design on both of my shoulder blades. The symmetry was off, the thin lines weren't clean. And it seems like one of the sides was slightly slanted rather than being mirrored perfectly. For example when the line needed to be straight or curved you can tell it was not and there wasn't any fine lines. But even with those imperfections, I wished it was at least symmetrical and not uneven. I am not unhappy because I liked the tattoo a lot but I paid $1,000 for something that had a lot of imperfections, and I personally think it was overpriced for the type of design I was getting. This was my first tattoo so I wasn't sure what to expect, but after doing more research I feel like it was a bit to expensive for what I was getting. That is bad on my part for not searching for other places who can do the same design, but I did expect it to be good quality based on their portfolio. I do respect the artist and their work, but I am pretty upset about the imperfections knowing how much I paid to get it done. read more

I was tattooed by @hktattoo_tina at this parlor! Scheduling was easy and was done via Instagram DMs. She was really kind to me and actually opened the door for me when I got there 30 minutes early. The shop was also very cute and they have a mini fridge with juiceboxes of Asian beverages for you to drink before your session. She made me feel really comfortable with getting my first tattoo and was open to when I asked for a second. What I do wish though was that I got one in color since it seems like a lot of the artists in the store specialize in it or do really well. But I LOVE my fine line tattoos and she gave a lot of advice on placement and sizing! Btw for other first timers - it didn't hurt at all and the worst only felt like a cat's scratch where I got it (below the wrist and on the arm). They also give you a bottle of lotion for aftercare and it smells really nice. I've been wanting to start my tattoo journey for many years now, but just didn't know what to get as my first tattoo until I saw alpacas in real life. They can be contacted via Whatsapp, and it's a pretty easy process: they'll ask you for photo references, if you want color or black/grey/white, the size, etc. They'll give you an estimated quote based on what you want, and you send a deposit in to secure your date/time with a tattoo artist that will best fit for the tattoo you want. My friend and I had Tina as our tattoo artist, and she was absolutely awesome! She took the time to show us our respective designs and make any necessary changes. I appreciated that she asked us for our thoughts and then gave her professional opinion. Tina was patient and was focused when tattooing. What I also really liked was that during the tattooing, she had the design up on another screen to reference and asked me during the process if I wanted to add or delete certain parts of the tattoo. That was super awesome! The studio itself is SUPER CUTE and aesthetics are on point. It is clean and they have complimentary drinks. The studio has a calm vibe. I noticed that all the tattoo artists here are dedicated in making their design work better and always ask the clients for their thoughts. This review is for Tina and the owner Avis. I had a friend come here to do a small tattoo and after checking out their instagram page and Yelp photos, we decided to message them. The price that they had given was $600, which was outrageous, but the way I think is the higher the price, the higher the quality. However, I was very wrong with how I thought and they had traumatized me from ever thinking like that again. When we messaged Tina on Instagram, she would take DAYS to respond. I understand a day, it's a business, probably a lot of clients. But 24hr for a response is unacceptable if you want clients. It was until we said "we will take our business somewhere else," then that's when Tina replied. You would expect a reply like, "I'm so sorry for the late reply, we are really busy," but instead, she responded "sorry my English is not good." How does you knowing English have to do with anything to respond to a future client? If you're going to lie, then lie well. This was a red flag. We started to believe that she would make up for that terrible experience. When she asked for a deposit, she wanted via Venmo. Make sure to always select the "goods and services" option to PROTECT yourself as a client. I advised my friend to select the "services" option. On the day of the appointment, the experience from the beginning was okay. They sat us down and told us to wait for Tina, as we had come early. Not a problem, we wouldn't mind waiting until several minutes past our appointment. Tina finished early with her client and proceeded to do the consultation and begin the tattoo and finish same day. She stenciled my friend several times and my friend expressed dissatisfaction with how the layout was going to be. It wasn't straight, it wasn't what she wanted, but Tina reassured that it would be what she wanted. She unbeknownstly did the work without consulting the colors, techniques, and didn't even make an effort to talk to my friend about what she wanted. Instead, her co-worker was sitting there chatting it up with her in a different language and was interrupting and distracting Tina from doing her work. It was like that for the whole session. In fact, she was so distracted that she drew an extra line on the skin that wasn't part of the stencil (more on that later). To add more fuel to the fire, her co-worker was VAPING in the room while the tattoo was being done. How is this even okay??? Imagine if someone doesn't like the smell of smoke or have breathing problems. For $600, this is looking more of a $100 down the street kind of experience. Once the tattoo was done, they needed to take a picture for documentation purposes, normal stuff. The kicker was that they made my friend wait 15 minutes, while Tina was talking about who knows what to the same vaping co-worker. Once they took a picture, my friend showed the accidental line, and Tina said that it will go away. I'm not an expert here, but these kind of things don't go away. But for $600, I should believe an expert right? Time has passed and the tattoo looks even worse. The color is wrong, the tattoo doesn't line up, and for $600, this is terribly expensive. This I would pay $100 MAX, and I've consulted with other places and this is a $200 MAX tattoo. When we reached out to Tina for a remedy, she gave unrealistic options such as free touch up, $150 refund, etc. How are you going to touch up something crooked?? We demanded a half refund, not even a full refund. $300 for first session, $300 for second session, fair right? To them, nope. We asked for their manager, and she redirected to Avis. Avis bluntly said "service has been provided, so there will be no return whatsoever." Service? Ok, I'll provide you with a cheeseburger with no cheese or bread, just a slice of meat. Want a refund? Too bad, service has been provided. This lead to no choice but to file a court case. Hello Tattoo is a con artist, they definitely bought their reviews. Tattoos are permanent and this is permanent damage. Avoid this place at all costs, and I will be filing a small claims court, and will file a complaint with the BBB. read more

I had Tina as my tattoo artist and the artwork is so beautiful. She was very thorough with her consultation and answered any questions I had. My piece was a rose and she created a design that met all my expectations. I especially loved the gradient that was done on the rose. The tattooing process was very quick and comfortable. I went with a couple other friends and there was plenty of space for all of us. In addition to the tattoo, they offered complimentary snacks and a baggy of aftercare with tattoos they designed.
