Everything here at Neat Kitchen + Bar was phenomenal! Their burgers here are absolutely fantastic. We tried both the short rib burger and the garden burger, and they were bursting with flavor. While the portion sizes were on the modest side, the quality more than made up for it. We are satisfied and impressed by their generous serving and delicious dishes. Service here is also prompt, decent, and accommodating. Their customer service is excellent! Overall, this place is best for special occasions and other events with friends and family. We were glad to find this place for after dinner drink. The lobby was open, raw and chic with a down to earth style. Another part I loved was the enough space between tables. We asked a bottle of Pinot Grigio with four different tacos: pork, steak, port belly, and fish. We all loved pork belly and fish. The mussels were pretty good too. With this comfortable place and nice flow of the conversation, we asked for more wine and the awesome berry bread pudding. The food was not the most important thing at this place. Came here on a cold Wednesday evening. When we were seated by the window, my first thought was "Wow, it's drafty in here." We asked to be moved to a table that was more towards the center or back of the restaurant so that it was warmer. When we were seated at our new table in the center, it wasn't better at all. I sat there turning my head left, right, up and down wondering where the heck the draft was coming from. Atmosphere is very chill and kind of dimly lit. The tables and chairs are pretty spaced out from each other, and there's a big empty space in the middle between the entrance and the tables. It wasn't busy when we went, so we didn't have to share our server with a whole bunch of tables. He was pretty attentive but not to the point where he was breathing down our necks. We ordered the Neat burger, three fish tacos and a side of asparagus. All three items were pretty good. The fish was just a tad bit on the dry side. So why the one star deduction? I chose this restaurant with the intention of ordering three shrimp tacos as listed on their website menu. Drove all the way to the restaurant and found out that their taco menu was almost completely different from the website! They need to update their website menu. I want my shrimp tacos! :( Overall, I would recommend this place, but dress warmly when you come here in the winter. read more

NEAT is my new favorite place! The atmosphere is cozy & inviting and the food is beyond delish! I was with a table of 6 so we got a few apps and shared. Highly recommend The Mussels, Poutine and Pork Wings. Our whole party raved about the appetizers. I had the crab cake and loved it! It is on the large size so I will definitely be splitting it next time. Service was excellent ( shout out to Pat)! After calling around and encountering 2.5 hour wait times at restaurants, I found Neat Kitchen & Bar on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Considering how busy area restaurants were, I was a bit unnerved by the immediate seating availability (but thankfully accepted as my stomach growled at me). There is a large selection of whiskeys, cocktails and beers to be had. Both, the Whiskey Smash and the Old Fashioned were excellent. I ordered the pork wings (because pigs do fly) with the sweet Asian Chili sauce and they were delicious. There were just two of them, so it was definitely appetizer sized. I also tried the Skirt Steak and the Short Rib Grilled Cheese and found both well prepared. Neat Kitchen & Bar is an easy recommend. I would definitely come back if I lived in the area. read more

We discovered this restaurant during the Taste of Westmont. There was a blues stage set up right outside their front door on Cass Avenue. So we were able to have some beers and listen to the blues from their outdoor seating, protected from the sun. Our server said they were known for their burgers so I ordered one. And I quickly understood why. It was perfectly prepared. A great piece of meat and the bun was bakery fresh. I also ordered their chips instead of fries and they were very good. TIP: If you are a Blue Moon drinker they don't carry it. But they do have Allagash White which is also a smooth beer. read more

We've been wanting to try this place.. so when when our foodie friends suggested it.. we were all like.. "Neat idea!" We got there at about 5:15 on a Saturday.. the place was pretty empty. One look around and I was thinking.."please don't put us at the table next to the two restless toddlers" They did. So, it took some effort but we were able to get a different spot. The service was excellent, the food was too. The decor won't knock your socks off but the place was comfortable.. and there is a nice, free parking lot attached. We started with the Pork Wing appetizer and three plates of Tacos (Bulgogi Steak, Pork Pibil and Chicken Mojo) I thought the pork wings (pork shoulder, I think) were on the dry side so I didn't love them. But, I did love the tacos, I thought the Pork would be my favorite.. but they were relegated to 2nd place, the Asian influenced Bulgogi Steak tacos ran away with first place.. they were really delicious! Lisa and I both had the Wagyu Hanger Steak.. and we both thought it was terrific. The grilled asparagus was done perfectly, the steak was made more delicious with their maitre d'hotel butter and the loaded baked potato was also very good. We finished off with the peppermint candy cane cheese cake and two scoops of gelato. A solid and enjoyable evening.. we'll happily be back. read more

We came to Neat Kitchen + Bar on a double date with my husband's friends. When we arrived, we drove right past the sign which was huge. If you keep an eye out, you will definitely be able to see it. The inside is nice and clean. We really liked the vibe. Our waitress greeted us promptly and was super sweet. She brought everything out in a timely manner and answered all of our questions regarding the food. For drinks, I ordered my fruity cocktails: Huber Road Lemonade and Strawberry Fields. Both were very refreshing and had great alcohol ratios. For starters, we got the Porkbelly boa buns and PROSCIUTTO MOZZARELLA SLIDERS. The sliders were so good and the best app. They were creamy and salty, just the perfect texture and flavor balance. The boa buns were good too. The flavor was very rich. For my entree, I got the baja tacos. They were pretty good. The fish was cooked well and had good flavor. Honestly, it was a little spicier than I was anticipating. I owe someone an apology regarding "Neat Kitchen", unfortunately I think that it's me and my wife. After years of driving by and not even giving it a second thought we stopped in tonight. We couldn't have been more pleased with the food. A salmon burger and a side of some great onion rings ( amazing onion rings) made me upset for the times we drove past. The service was great and attentive. The food hit the spot tonight and hopefully on a regular basis for us from here on. I can't wait to try more of the selections offered. What a fabulous place! I randomly saw it on open table last weekend so decided to take my mom and 4 year old daughter to try it out. I was SO impressed. Atmosphere is great, bar was hoppin - yet I felt it was totally a family friendly place. I had the short rib, my mom had the tacos pastor. Both we fabulous and we also had a great bottle of wine. Kids menu was great and they had some coloring stuff to keep her busy which is always nice. Coincidentally my husband had a work happy hour here 4 days later that I was invited to last minute. We had the area on the north side of the restaurant in front of the bar. I was BEYOND impressed with the food and the service. It was such an enjoyable experience. The buns were nice and fresh and were not dense like how some places make them. The pork belly was cooked well and flavorful garnished with cucumber slices on top. They have monthly specials so I decided to try the burger special because I thought it sounded unique. The special had a burger patty, two Nathan's hot dogs and bacon and it was massive but so tasty! We've been to Neat Kitchen a handful of times now. It was interesting returning after they reopened last year. I actually thought the restaurant was quite fine and doing well so I was surprised to hear that it closed. Turns out it was just sold and under new ownership! Love the modern and clean feel to the restaurant. Great for a dinner & drinks, a casual date, or even a larger group (with a reservation of course ;). A few of us went with the buttermilk chicken sandwich. It was breaded nicely, not dripping in grease, and supported well by a miso mayo & charred broccoli slaw. Greetings Foodzies, yesterday we tried a new restaurant in Westmont at 246 n Cass Ave. The restaurant is an open air concept. When we were their it was nice and quiet, but I believe that when they have a full house it could be a little noisy. The host and server were very pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. We ate a few different dishes. I had the aloha burger; with a teriyaki, pineapple, bacon and sriracha aioli gave the juicy well flavored burger an interesting twist. The flavor of the pineapple on it was good but made it hard to eat. I also included truffle fries. They had a nice earthy flavor. The fries were topped with grated parmigiana cheese. Emme, our server suggested a garlic mayo which made a great dipping sauce, I would have added a dab of sriracha. We also tried the shrimp tacos and the carne asada tacos. Although they were small the flavor was there. The shrimp tacos only had a couple shrimp but the tacos were tasty and fresh. They were served with poblano rice, for me it was a little bland. The carne asada tacos were made with a finely chopped carne and an array of spices making the a little to spicy, almost to the point that you couldn't enjoy the flavor. These tacos were served with a rojo rice, this also had some heat. The restaurant was clean and inviting, they offer specials throughout the week including trivia. I give then 3 1/2 stars. I have had to wait for more than 30 minutes before I could sit for my reservation with a party of two. I had a gift certificate that I obtained through an annual fundraiser that DuPage PADS has. It was Trivia night and while we opted not to participate, we heard all the questions and in my opinion, it was a nicely run event. Draft beers were on sale for $5 - decent deal. Had a Raspberry ale that was pretty decent; my friend tried a couple different varieties and was pretty satisfied with his selections. We had a really good server - I'm not recalling her name, wish I could as she did a nice job of checking in with us at good intervals; not too often yet not lacking in visits either. Kudos on that. Everything we ordered came out promptly. For starters, we got the NEAT board - their version of charcuterie. A little bit of a mixed review on it. One of the two slices of cheese - I believe it was white American - had little if any taste. Most of the grapes, while tasty were pretty soft, usually an indicator that the fruit was a bit old. Finally, there were only two bread/starch items on the board - one piece of bread and a pistachio - like flatbread. Not enough to put the ham, salami or cheeses on. Even after breaking up the flatbread into four pretty small pieces and the bread slice in half. The meats were both tasty as were the gouda and bleu cheese on the board. Peppers, veggies, mustard and jam all went well together. The salad my friend had for dinner was fine. I ordered their version of Philly Cheesesteak - I liked it, good taste and flavor.
