We worked with Neal's Hardwood Flooring over 10 years ago, and our original wood floors still look amazing. So when we decided to install additional wood flooring, we knew exactly who to call. As expected, the sales process was outstanding. The team took the time to educate us on various options, clearly outlining the pros and cons of each. They even came to our home three separate times to help us select the perfect product. After the floors were installed, we noticed some issues--the floor creaked and felt spongey in certain areas. Neal's responded immediately, coming out the very next day. They quickly acknowledged that something wasn't right and took swift action to address it. Ultimately, the issue was traced back to the material itself. That didn't matter to Neal's. They took full responsibility, sourced new material, removed the entire floor, and reinstalled everything from scratch--all within two weeks to minimize our inconvenience (their words, and they meant it!). There was no spin, no finger-pointing, and no talk of additional costs. Just accountability and action. It's easy to praise a company when everything goes according to plan--but what truly sets Neal's apart is how they handle things when they don't. That integrity and dedication is exactly why we'll continue to return to Neal's again and again. A heartfelt thank you to everyone on the Neal's team! read more

Everyone I spoke to at Neal's was so helpful, responsive and friendly. I LOVE how the floors turned out! Its a messy job - sanding and refinishing the whole house - but everyone that worked in there obviously took their time to minimize the mess and cleaned up when they were done. The floors look awesome too!! Totally recommend Neal's Flooring! read more

The work that was done in my living room/dining room (last year) and in my kitchen (this year) was wonderful. What a magnificent improvement. It was such a pleasure to work with the entire team - Mark, Linda, Connie, George, the guys who laid the floor last year, Larry who laid the floor this year, and the guys who delivered the flooring both this year and last year. Also the sales person I originally dealt with over year ago. And any minor adjustments were done immediately. Neal's was recommended to me and I would recommend them with no hesitation. read more

We recently had the floors on our second floor refinished by Neal's Wood Flooring. We maintained them by vaccuuming and damp mopping regularly but they never looked good. They had not been stripped or refinished for over thirty years and were dark and worn looking since they are the original white oak floors to our 119 year old house. We'd actually been told once, by another company, that they were too far gone to ever be restored to their former beauty. WRONG! After Neal's crew refinished them they look as new and fresh as they probably did the day they were installed! The entire experience was pleasant beginning with Mark DelRocco's estimate, Monica Cioffi's expert advice from the office and the care and expertise shown by the refinishers themselves. They were always on time and worked hard. I highly recommend Neal's wood Flooring! read more

Neals installed manufactured wood floor in our home and after nine months it cracked everywhere, after I asked them repeatedly If it could be installed over radiant heat, which they said they did all the time. Needless to say, they did nothing wrong and blame us for lack of moisture. We did not ask once, but several times about radiant under wood, as we have radiant throughout our home, but none under wood. Terrible customer service and I will sue them. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Neal's Flooring - This is living room - Flooring Near Me - Branford, Connecticut

Hired them to refinish our 100-year-old original hardwood floors as well as to install some new wood floors. They subcontracted the work without informing us. Replaced pre-existing damaged boards with completely unmatched wood. Left sharp splintered areas throughout the flooring, we complained and they agreed to sand them down (we specifically asked for no wood filler)- instead, they added mismatched wood filler and then sanded before the filler dried, smearing it around, then polyed it. When we asked to speak to a manager, the Vice President came out and dismissed our concerns. It then took 3-4 weeks for resolution - we actually had to freeze the payment to get them to return to fix it as promised and we are still left with some areas of mismatched wood filler but we let it go as this had already greatly delayed moving into the house. The shoddy work was horrible in itself, but the worst part of all of this was that even at the highest level they just did not care at all / blew us off. *pro tip: check the "not currently recommended" reviews for similar experiences read more

BEWARE!! WORST experience with a flooring company ever!! Neals sent their rep out and gave us a quote that was on the high side but we thought that meant they would do great work. WRONG! We were over charged for work that the rep (Tom) agreed would be done. Staining was to be sanded out or they said they would replace the stained boards. They didn't do either. They left the stained floor intact and applied the sealant over the stains. When we called the company to tell them they said there would be an additional charge to fix it. TO FIX WHAT WHAT THEY WERE HIRED TO FIX IN THE FIRST PLACE! We were also told that we would receive a credit for any unused wood. But when it came time to receive a credit for wood purchased they pulled a bait & switch and said they don't do that. My house was also beautifully painted 2 days before Neals came in to do the floors. Their sanding machine destroyed EVERY PIECE of trim requiring me to get my painters back to the house for it to be re-painted. They also put dirty hand prints all over the walls, kicked clean walls with dirty shoes and all of my freshly painted stairs, put coffee cups and drinks on clean banisters and the list of destruction goes on. Neal's also never replaced trim molding in my kitchen which was supposed to be reinstalled. My husband had to do it himself. The communication between the subcontractors was a joke which had us leaving our stove on our back deck (in the rain) for 5 days. The workers didn't speak English!! We were also told that they would haul away the debris from the job. They didn't! It sat on my deck for 5 days with an additional 2 garbage bags that they left in my driveway. My husband and I are both Realtors and we will advise every client and associate to advise their clients and associates DO NOT USE NEAL'S!! I rate this company 0 STARS! Unfortunately, I cannot post this review without checking off a minimum 1 star. read more

Upon hiring them once with happy results, I hired again years later for my own home. My advice is hire any other company. I was overcharged. I wrote letters, phone calls, emails to the owner (who quoted the job) no response. I was ripped off royally.. As I own rental properties, I've hired another floor person as a fraction of the price who got the job done in the time frame given. read more

First I want to say I am so ridiculously picky!!! This company saved my floor. I had water damage from an overflowed small humidifier. Waited a whole year because no one would touch the repair. Everyone was worried about it not matching. These guys gave me an inexpensive repair quote. Show up on time. Scraped the areas and put down a clear coat. I was shocked and amazed how well it looked. Fantastic. read more

I never write reviews but I had to in this situation. Fifteen years ago Neal's Wood Flooring did my bedroom floor and did an amazing job. I couldn't believe they actually brought beauty in the wood out. Recently I wanted to have my dining and living rooms done. When I went to the website to get the number I saw the reviews and was shocked at them. I am not a fan of reviews so I take them with a grain of salt but I know other people don't. Regardless of what some of them said, I wanted them to do my floors anyways because I know what they do. When my floors were done, I was so happy with them I had write a review. I couldn't let it be unsaid. My experience was nothing less than perfect. Every person involved from the office to the sanders were completely courteous, professional and a pleasure to do business with. They were really prompt in all the appointments I made with them, within minutes. The floors came out absolutely beautiful. They are old floors and I really didn't think they would come out as good as they did. They didn't get any gloss on my woodwork, rugs or baseboards, not one streak or bubble anywhere. It's like having brand new floors. Also, there are no nicks or damage to my walls from their equipment. They really did an amazing job and it was worth every penny. read more

It was a great experience from start to finish. Neal's Wood Flooring gave us help choosing the right flooring for our kitchen, answered our questions patiently ( we have an older home) and did not push us to make a quick sale. They are friendly and professional and the plank flooring we picked was perfect in every way. The installers are knowledgeable and professional. I couldn't be more pleased! read more

Neal's Flooring installed hardwood flooring in my kitchen, with a weave in to the hallway. Then refinished all the existing (and new) hardwood in my house. George explained that without staining the flooring the kitchen would look lighter than the hallway, but if would naturally catch up and I would not be able to see the difference. Well he was so right!!! 6 months later I can not tell the difference!!! Every crew member was polite and tidy! Dustless sanding was awesome!! read more

Terrible experience. They came and measured my kitchen and then nothing. I asked four separate times for an estimate and got no response. At that point there was no chance of doing business, can't imagine what it would be like if I had a problem read more

I am writing a review for an experience me and a customer had with Neals Flooring in a kitchen that I remodeled. The work done was done great.....by the contractors hired by Neals to do the work. I never dealt.with Neals other than to pay them for the expensive flooring wanted to be installed and that was it. I paid for the Mirage brand sold thru Neals but they didnt do any work. Not to mention Neals never came out after the job was done by their Sub-contractors to make sure job was done properly. You would think that of their name was on it they would want to make sure the quality it to their standards. So again, the flooring is greatfrom the manufacturer, the work was done well by contractor, but none of it by Neals except taking my money. So I can only say that the sales thru Neals was good, but since they dont do the work or do a final inspection, I cant say if they do good work or not. read more

It's a classic bait and switch scam. In person quoted install, sand and repair. Tried to get away with no repairs, then charged extra. Workers did not speak English, different workers everyday, no one knew what to do. Boss always on vacation. Rude and ignorant staff in office. The worst part was that the job was horrible (squeaky areas, areas that needed sanding and stain, gaps between boards, spots that were missed, etc) PLUS $550 worth of damage to my walls and trim. You will speak to a different person every time you call if you have a proble,. They just try to wear you down and delay until you pay to get them out of your life. I am reporting to the BBB and the DCP. A horrible company all around and they should go out of business. Maybe they were good in the past but that is not the case anymore. Trust me and stay away. read more

Slam dunk! We had Neal's redo two adjacent rooms with a goal to seamlessly transition the spaces via a uniform color. Prior to the refinish it was very obvious the two rooms had different flooring (one room has slightly wider planks than the other) even though the color was similar. Now, floors redone, we got exactly what we asked for, it looks amazing, Neal's achieve that seamless transition and completely changed the look of the space. We were scheduled right away, and the job was completed, on time, as promised. We also appreciated the time they took in making sure the color was just right. They must have mixed 12 different shades of color until it was just what we wanted, all along the way giving us input without any pressure to make a choice. The work was done neatly, the rooms were taped off, even though there was little dust to speak of. We had a vision and they made it a reality. We would use them again without hesitation. read more

I hired them to put wood floor in my house, they charged me about 25% higher then other alternative companies in the area , but I decided to pay more for 'top-quality' job ...as I was told. I'm completely disappointed: they didn't care to make the sub-floor even before installing quite expensive pre-finished hardwood floor which I ordered, so my floor looks like wavy ocean surface, in many places it is creaking and moving under my feet, they also left a few cracked planks right after installation... When I complained all they said was - we are not responsible for your sub-floor. But when I talked to other contractors (unfortunately afterwards!) they started their explanations with the statement 'First thing, I will make your sub-floor even...'. For me it is not about 'to be responsible for sub-floor or not' , it is about 'to care about doing good quality job or not'. They are supposed to be professionals and to know these details , not me. Apparently some of my friends who installed the floor by themselves in their houses (first time in their life) did much better job then this 'professionals'. read more

Neal's does excellent work at a fair price if you know just what you want and can be satisfied with their choice of Minwax stains (which they treat as wiped, not penetrating, so there is no depth of color). But if you have special needs, such as color matching, you may not be able to get the help you need since there is no project manager; the pieces of the job are farmed out to individual teams expert in their individual pieces of the action. read more
