I scheduled the appointment, followed the instructions, picked up my brother and went to the Arlington Heights office. My brother has a difficult time with medical facilities, so it is challenging to say the least, but with some patience we always get it done-just requires some patience. I was told I needed to take the urine testing box home and complete it there and return another day to drop off. I explained I would prefer to complete it at the facility to avoid further trauma and anxiety to my brother and another trip. Tech repeated needs to be done at home, despite being given different information from customer service. My brother was gagging because he sensed my frustration, but I explained with my help, I could get the urine sample and would prefer to get it done that day. One of the woman even went to the extreme of saying so many people go in and out of the restroom and it may not be as clean as it would be to it at home. I gasped and repeated asking if cleaned after each patient. She replied yes, but concluded it would be better to do it at home. Clearly, we were the last appointment of the day and with my brother being special needs they believed leaving at closing time, 3pm wouldn't happen. I was confident and have collected urine samples for my brother before. I was extremely upset and frustrated because it was crystal clear customer service was not the priority here, but leaving at closing time was. Today needed blood & papers for an upcoming procedure. They said they didn't have the papers, my other doctors office gave them faulty info, we left. I called the other office in the car en route another stop, managed to sort them out and have it faxed over to the clinic. Stopped at the clinic on the way home and they managed to squeeze in a few minutes with a nurse to grab the blood and a flash with the doctor to do the paperwork even though I was well past my appointment time today because the other office didn't send the papers to the right office. They'll go above and beyond to get things done if they can logistically handle it. Blood collection was easy and the nurse had my preferred type and gauge of needle, I know what needle my veins are good with because of how many blood drawings and procedural IV lines I have in a year. The overall clinic is a 5/5 except for when you have to do after hours answering service call ins. They tend to be a bit unreliable at getting the physician to phone back but they do eventually work after some prodding. Maybe the company will switch answering service vendors if they see more complaints about answering service problems.

When you arrive, there is no one to greet you. They have a kiosk where you check in - it also scans your ID and insurance card. If you don't have an appointment and are a walk in, the kiosk suggests you make an appointment next time, and that your wait could be 30 to 60 minutes. I decided to wait and was called back within a couple of minutes. Their blood draw rooms are nice. The phlebotomist was patient, asked questions, and listened when I answered. The care they show is nice. Aside from the odd experience with their kiosk, the visit was good and it was fast.

I have been having 24 hour urine samples tested by Litholink for some 15 years. My experience with…read morethem has been hit or miss, mostly miss. TWICE, they have mixed up my samples and sent me and my physician results that were clearly not mine. How do I know? Firstly, a patient has to provide the volume on the submission paperwork. The volume on the report was no where close to what I indicated on the form. Secondly, most of the reported urine parameters were grossly different from any of my previous results. Upon retesting, the results were then in line with my previous results. Poor quality control and sloppy lab work. IMPORTANTLY, the company would not discuss this matter with either me or my physician. But they charged for the analysis anyway. These 24 hour urine tests and associated blood draws are inconvenient at best. What a waste of time resources. I'm done with them.

Don't go to the website - apparently that is run by LabCorp and Litholink can't do anything about their content - where there should be an alert that tells you that a 2nd kit will not be sent until the first one is received. Don't talk to them on the phone to ask if you can pick up the 2nd kit; they will tell you on the phone you can - but then when you go to a LabCorp to pick it up - they won't give you anything and tell you it is not possible. This should have been pretty straightforward - instead, it is the most painful part of the process...aside from the kidney stones themselves. What a terrible place...
