I got an estimate for a new driveway, walkway, front steps and adding two rectangular thin strips of concrete to my patio on June 28, 2017. The price was very reasonable given the amount of work that was required. Due to the amount of business and the time of year, Nick could not start the work until the late summer or early fall of that year. However, it was worth the wait because the workmanship and completed project were beautiful! In 2019 after a long winter I started to notice some pitting at the top of the driveway and called the office. I spoke with Stacey who asked for pictures. Her first reaction was that it looked like I had used salt, which I assured her that I did not! Stacey told me that she would get back with me. I sent an additional picture on March 20, 2019. I didn't hear from her. Consequently, I contacted her again sometime in the fall. She said that Nick had seen my driveway and was trying to get the company with whom he got the cement to redo the driveway. In addition, I emailed her to reiterate that I had not used salt. Instead, I used Peladow Calcium Chloride Pellets recommended highly by the Rochester Elevator as it does not damage a driveway nor walkway and is used by hospitals and schools for that very reason. Though expensive, you do not need to put down a lot as a little goes a long way, which is what I was told by the Rochester Elevator. Subsequently, I only used it sparingly when the driveway iced over and it became somewhat dangerous to walk on! That said, Stacey immediately told me that they are not responsible for any treatment that has been put on their cement and that it is in writing. I told her that I was not told this nor did I see it in writing. She told me again that she would get back with about the drive. I never heard from her as usual. However, did leave another message at the end of the 19-20 winter season that though I never again used anything on the driveway - risking my bodily health in those times when the drive ices over, the bottom of the drive and the walkway were also starting to corrode. Apparently this product is so delicate that you cannot put any product to clean, avoid slipping and falling on ice or to get your car up and down the driveway safely. And, perhaps THAT should be in bold letters prior to anyone investing in the product. Therefore, this is my warning to anyone who is considering using this company. The results are wonderful, the product is not and nor is the follow through! I am now just watching my beautiful driveway and walkway disintegrate! read more

We as well went with NC Cement. This is our 4th summer and last year paid $1500 to have them come back out to restrain the outer trim and completely reseal the entire patio and walkway for our sons graduation party that was like 3 weeks away There were already areas where they must not have put it on thick enough because it was patchy in some areas. I contacted them immediately left voicemails for Tom and text messages and said he was going to make it right in the fall, that did not happen I'm guessing because by the time they finally picked up the weather wasn't cooperating. I sent Tom another text back at the end of April and once again NO REPLY!! They did a beautiful job but part of keeping "their work" looking nice and preserving it is the sealing and if they don't do that properly then their work isn't worth the time they spend to complete jobs. This was all part of their sell that the sealing is what will preserve the look. Well we've paid for the preserving and you've done a CRAPPY job of applying it because it has not even been a year and it looks God awful ! Part of running a great business is not only making the sale but following up with it. You have customers reaching out for service for the work that you have completed and you can't even return a phone call ! Very poor, I have had friends already asked me who the company is that did our patio because they like the design. Unfortunately I no longer tell them to contact you because you don't stand behind your work!! read more

I hired NC Cement for a full job of replacing my driveway, sidewalks and patio, with added patio area. I was overall satisfied with the job with the exception of destroyed lawn where they cleaned their cement saw off and left the wet cement to harden and kill the grass. There were smaller issues with what they left behind that I looked past because the job was done and it looked great after I repaired the area around their work. I also was quoted $16,000 for the entire job, but agreed to pay him an additional 1280 because he said he had additional costs because he had to rent a saw to cut the patio because of wire mesh in the pour and fixing my sprinklers he had to move. I was not happy about charging me more for him to rent a saw for something he should have known about, but I paid him and figured it's done. I also remember having a problem with the sealing they did on the exposed aggregate because it was blotchy, he said it was because they were using a new one coat process, even though my quote stated 2 coats of Vex-con sealer. The nails that were pulled but left all along the pour. (more than a hundred because I had to pick them up) Even then, I was overall happy with the crew and the job they did, with all of that and the mess left behind. I wasn't even especially concerned with a couple of cracks that appeared the next spring. Cement does move and even though one winter showing cracks was a bit concerning, the cracks were in area's that did not concern me and they were fine in nature. But now less than 3 years later I have spalling starting on my cement driveway on 4 slabs, 2 slabs are extremely bad. Spalling occurs when too much water is in the mix of cement or overworking the concrete finish by adding water. I called on Monday April 27 but did not leave details as to what the call was about and got a return the following morning. After explaining to the woman on the phone the issue, she said. Oh, you're saying for a job we did almost 3 years ago you have a problem? I said yes, I am calling about cement that the finish should last for at least 20 years. She gave me an email address and told me to send her the photo's. 3 days pass and I'm getting a bit upset, so I call and ask her if she got my pictures, then she tells me, oh I haven't checked my email in days. She then checks her email and says she got them. I asked her to please have someone call about this. That was Friday and it is now Tuesday afternoon. Bottom line when you have work to do, they respond to get your money, but if problems arise they forget you. Not a stand-up or trusted company does this. I am now seeking my options with Michigan BBB and legal rights. Please, do yourself a favor and avoid the cost of doing business with this company. They are not customer friendly, unless you have a checkbook in hand. I have never used salt on my driveways and I also have had other complete pours done in my lifetime and never have I seen anything like this in less than 3 years. I have posted photo's of the cement they have left me with after 2.5 years. I now have to contact a reputable company to replace at least 4 slabs and now I see others that seem to be forming the same look. I am distraught by what this company has done and how it handles it's business. This guy reminds me so much of many of these businesses that are always looking for a way to cut corners and that have the attitude "I have your money, why are you bothering me now that I say it's done?" They also have another philosophy which is typical of these types of businesses, which is "Don't respond and it goes away" Do yourself a favor and steer clear. read more

In 2018, we started talking with NC Cement about a concrete patio job, it was late in the season we mutually agreed to do the work in 2019. In early February we finalized the details and gave them a deposit for services in June. In early June, despite the inclement weather we had our new patio. Tom was knowledgeable and a complete pleasure to work with. The crew was "FABULOUS". These guys worked hard and genuinely cared about my property as well as our neighborhood. I observed them frequently cleaning up after themselves and they were constantly sweeping the street to minimize debris. The team that worked at our house was passionate about what they do and took pride in their work. I received this company as a recommendation and I would most definitely recommend them to others. Just a word of Wise if debating on hiring NC CEMENT. I'll explain my dealings with NC CEMENT from last season (2018). I had 4 other estimates, all of which also gave me a good price. With a recommendation from a Relative I decided to go with NC CEMENT. As it turned out a bad choice. Once they poured the cement the color wasn't quite as it should have been. I called Nick and in a week or so and they corrected the issue. Now keep in mind my job (cement was poured) was less than a month old. I noticed a crack in the newly poured cement. I called NC CEMENT explained my situation. Never did speak with Nick directly but his Receptionist told me to take some pictures and send them in. I did that however now I didn't get that friendly feeling. I called numerous times with no luck. so I decided to call Nick directly. once I actually talked to him he always claimed that he was too busy and on the other side of town. Now NC CEMENT is owned by Nick. He really never made any kind of honest attempt to correct the problem or even come out and look at it. Now if your contemplating on using NC CEMENT please keep in mind that my job was not even a month old. The only reason I'm giving NC CEMENT one star is because I have to put something down. I've had a patio, walk and drive way ribbons installed by them. 2 separate instances with them, both times the crews have been nothing but great! Super friendly and accommodating to us, and willing to answer any questions or concerns we had! If you want POOR QUALITY concrete then this is the place to go. Our stamped concrete finish is coming off and looks TERRIBLE! They told us the colorant was mixed into the concrete and would not fade or rub off. That is exactly what it is doing. This began occuring after only 3 seasons. The regular concrete for our driveway pitted all over and that began after 2 seasons. We NEVER use salt or any other chemicals on the driveway. When we called them about the issue they never return phone calls. We paid thousands of dollars for this work yet they don't stand behind their work. Shame on you NC Cement for ripping off people by taking thousands of dollars and giving them concrete that looks terrible in a short time. RUN AWAY fast from this company!!!! read more

Provided an estimate to start work. On that date no show no call. Called and spoke with office staff, "I will talk to George and find out." No call. Three dates set to complete work, a month later I called to find our what the deal was, "oh we will be there tomorrow morning." Thanks for the heads up! Crew worked hard. The patio and porch look good, the sealer failed six months after it was laid! Driveway is awful! Pitting, spalling surface is a mess! NC Cement took two months to respond and said must be salt from the cars on the driveway. Stated they will request a concrete inspection by cement company. Company does not respond to phone calls or e-mails. I filed with BBB, found in my favor as NC Cement does not respond to their requests either. Stay away from these guys! read more

VERY happy with the exposed aggregate that NC put down in our new home. The color is consistent and the quality is top shelf. He uses a heavier mix than many of the other companies out there and came out when scheduled. We were very happy that they were able to take our idea for the layout and lay it exactly as we imagined. I had a front walk and sidewalk to the yard connecting to a tiered patio. it was done in aggregate exposed stone and a glitter seal and acid trim on tiers. The crew did an awesome job leaving a magnificent looking patio and walkways. The finish design exceeded my expectations.
