Just spent a week live-aboard sailing with Nautilus in Mallorca, Spain. Our goal was to complete ASA 101, 102, and 104 courses and receive certification to Bareboat Charter in the future. I was a bit skeptical we could accomplish this in a week. It's a lot of technical information and skills to digest, plus the 3 separate exams. We did it!!! Our Captain, Ben, is an incredible Sailor. He's a terrific instructor and all around great guy. He explained everything in a way I could understand and was so patient. He's also a great Chef...and full of joie de vivre. His provisioning of our boat was spot on too. All of our meals aboard were great. Everyone we met thru Nautilus was fantastic. We got together for dinner or drinks several times with the other Nautilus boat in Mallorca training that week, and meet some wonderful people. Everyone was really fun. Great memories for sure. Margaret in the home office is so easy to work with. She responds to every email promptly...no matter how silly the question. As a bonus, Nautilus has a great program for their Alumni...organizing flotillas around the world. Can't wait for our next sailing adventure with Nautilus. Greece 2019? Let's do it!!!! read more

Wow just Wow! We just completed our ASA 101-104 with Captain Mark in the beautiful country of Grenada. I highly recommend Nautilus Sailing to help you achieve success with this course. Our time was spent with 7 days of hands on crewing the 40 ft. catamaran. Every detail was taken care of including provisioning the boat by Nautilus. We just boarded and with the course books sent to us months before we were ready to apply our book knowledge with the boat. Please study your books before because it is very helpful with basic knowledge and passing the ASA tests. We had a couple on our boat with us so you receive many hours of sailing with a small class. If you desire to learn to sail pick Grenada. The wind was strong and the native people are fabulous. We anchored or moored every evening and went ashore twice for fantastic native food. My husband and I got up every morning at 5:30 to enjoy the beautiful sunrise and the calmness of the sea. With fresh brewed coffee of course! We snorkeled,swam and spotted many sea turtles. Last month, my wife and I spent a week in Mallorca, Spain with Nautilus getting trained to be Captains on a catamaran. It was one of the most amazing experiences that we have ever shared together. Our instructor, Emmy, was spectacular. Smart, quick witted and demanding...she taught us a ton and really helped us respect the endeavor we had taken on, as well as what to expect for our own future bareboat charters. Sharing space with the other couple on the boat was such a blast. They were amazing, special people and we feel very fortunate to now call them friends. When in port, we got to spend time with the Captain and crew of the other boat that Nautilus had out with us. Ben, their skipper, was almost as awesome as Emmy :) The couples we met from that boat were also really special people. My wife and I feel incredibly fortunate to have had such a memorable introduction to the sailing community. We highly recommend Nautilus to anyone interested in getting properly trained on the basics of sailing with world class instructors and all around great people! read more

Four of us just recently took a trip with Nautilus to earn our Captains license. We are four folks from the middle of the country with one sailing experience under our belts. So I have to admit that we were worried about our skills and adapting to the sailing life. I can not express what a wonderful experience we had! Our instructor, Tim, was TOP OF THE LINE and immediately put us at ease. We had a great combination of learning time and relaxing time. We all passed our tests and are looking forward to our next sailing adventure on our own. What an amazing adventure in the Grenadines last week! The hands-on experience I gained while earning my ASA 101, 103, 104 and 114 certifications was unlike any other. Instructor Ben Martin was very knowledgeable, skilled and capable at teaching our group of four students how to navigate the open water. He was also a great tour guide of the islands and led our explorations of the markets, beaches and snorkeling adventures! I had a fantastic time learning how to trim the sails, weigh anchor, tie knots, sailing drills and chart our course to the next island destination. I feel confident in my sailing skills! Grenada is a wonderful destination and the scenery is amazing! The locals are so nice and I felt very safe as a solo traveler. I highly recommend Nautilus Sailing and I'm so glad my friends that are alumni of Nautilus had recommended them to me! read more

What an INCREDIBLE experience! Our goals were to feel more comfortable chartering a boat in Croatia in the fall, and our expectations were well exceeded!!! Captain Emmy set the bar high and expected our best efforts, if not excellence, since the sea demands the highest respect. She rounded out the didactics of lessons with the care-free frivolity of playing in the Caribbean - snorkeling in the warm aqua blue waters, rafting up with other Nautilus boats for evening soirees, recommending post school adventures after our tearful goodbyes at the end of our week with her. We also had the pleasure of sailing with Captain Shaun Tarr and meeting Captain Ben - all are top notch sailors and super fun individuals! My husband and I just returned from our Sailing course on a catamaran in Grenada! We chose the location because our hope is to take our family sailing there next year. As we digested the textbooks Nautilus sent us prior, we were overwhelmed with an entire new "language" and culture. We arrived with one other student and met Tim, our instructor. This week was FULL.. of challenge, fun, stretching situations, exhaustion, incredible memories, victories, connections, sun and sailing! All of the textbook reading came to life with each new exercise and experience. Tim was incredibly patient and taught from the moment we got up to the moment we dropped into our berths. Neither of us had ever sailed previously besides in our dreams.. but after this week and our new CAPTIANS titles.. it feels like far more of a reality! Thank you, Nautilus! read more

This really is "As good as it gets". I just returned form a week on the Sea of Cortez with my Bareboat license, ASA 101, 103 and 104, as well as a license to charter Catamarans up to 50 ft. Tim Geisler, the owner of Nautilus Sailing, was our instructor and he has to be the best captain and instructor in the business. Not only is he a great guy to hang out with but he is very knowledgeable and experienced. Everything form beginning to end was well organized and professional. I live in the San Francisco area and for the same price of a course here doing day lessons on the bay I was able to spend a week in the Sea of Cortez on a live-aboard 38 ft catamaran with great food, comfortable room and plenty of other activities. We spearfished, snorkeled, swam with sea lions and hung out in some of the most beautiful turquoise coves I've ever seen. read more

Wow, tremendous experience. I can't say enough about how great this was - first, top notch, skilled, and especially, enthusiastic, teaching! Great fun, relaxed, but action and information packed. Sailing is not just a pastime, but a life style, and if you don't believe that already, you certainly will after the course. It's "A+". The Blue Mesa Reservoir is a great spot, and nice wind you'd not expect, nestled the beautiful Colorado hills, great camping right there too. Nice sloop, Catalina 25', perfectly suited for the teaching environment, what a wonderful weekend and a tremendous confidence builder for the upcoming sailing outings I've planned. We did the Grenada 7 day live aboard sailing school Jan 2015. It was awesome! I had never been sailing before and took the time to study the material which I recommend because it is nice to have some of the sailing lingo before stepping aboard. The best I could describe life aboard would be like a big car camping trip on water. Our instructor, Ben, was great! He was patient, competent, an excellent communicator and gave us his undivided attention. He obviously knows how to sail but more importantly was able to clearly teach us. We had rain / wind squalls come through almost everyday which made for some fun all-weather sails!! I highly recommend Nautilus and rank it as one of my best trips ever! read more

In May I joined Shaun Tarr of Nautilus sailing in the Grenadines to learn about sailing and earn my qualification for Captain. My journey was awesome and everything about the trip was great. Shaun is a very good teacher with a lot of patience. He really did a great job with the four of us on this trip. I could not have asked for a better experience, better Captain or better crew. Had a great experience with Nautilus in Grenada in January. Six days and nights on a 44-foot Jeanneau monohull learning to sail in the beautiful waters of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite St. Vincent. Instructor Shaun Tarr was terrific. Knowledgeable and fun, but also demanding. A great coach who will push you to get the most from your experience. Important to know that this is a sailing school, not a sailing vacation. You will work hard, get tons of hands-on experience and have a great time doing it. Read the textbooks before you go. You won't have time to read them on the boat. read more

Isla Espritu Santo is like no other place in the world and that's just part of what you will see if you take the Nautilus Sailing Course in the Sea of Cortez. The course itself including ASA levels 101-103-104 is demanding and you are 'on' all the time during your 6 days at sea. If the wind is blowing (which it was for me) you can multiply the thrill. My instructor Ted Barrett was a pro. There are very few people that can do what Ted does and do it well with four rookies onboard. He took my rating of the experience from a 9/10 to a 15/10. read more

Joining the Nautilus Sailing Tahiti trip was a great way to check a location off my sailing bucket list while earning my ASA certifications. We sailed through the islands of Raiatea, Tahaa and Bora Bora in French Polynesia in gorgeous weather, including near perfect conditions for our longer day sails. Capt. Ben was a great instructor, who did an amazing job of balancing the need to get thorough the course materials with our collective desire to enjoy all the islands had to offer. read more

I had a great time in Grenada! Tim was a fantastic captain and instructor. Definitely pays off to read the material ahead of time. He planned the days out well with a good balance of instruction, hands on practice and time to enjoy the anchorage/mooring. We visited some awesome beaches, enjoyed an evening with fabulous bioluminescence, and shared in making savory meals. My wife and I just became certified to charter sail boats by taking Nautilus Sailing's ASA 104 Bareboat Charter course in the Sea of Cortez. This was an absolutely wonderful week. The 42-foot Catalina was in excellent condition. Our instructor, Len Malloy was great fun and a wonderful teacher. The sailing in the Sea of Cortez was terrific. An amazing company with its headquarters located interestingly enough in a Colorado mountain town! I had the pleasure of experiencing their sailing school experience in the Sea of Cortez Feb. 14-21. Our captain, Marc, was very capable, informative, fun as well as patient. I was part of an all women crew; there were 3 of us.
