The staff here is quite amazing. My family and I visited this marina in hopes of renting a boat to take the kids fishing. They are required to keep a certain number available for guests that reserved until a certain time, after which, they can rent on a first come first serve basis. Luckily, we were able to secure one. It didn't have a canopy but that didn't matter to us. The staff was helpful and informative before our launch as well. During our outing, my son lost his fishing rod over the side of the boat and was devastated. When we got back to the marina, he had to tell everyone he saw. One of the staff had reeled in an old rod and offered it to my son. He was so happy and thankful. They didn't have to do that but they did and for that, we are very grateful. The reservoir is pretty good too. read more

I rented a pontoon boat from the guys at Elk Creek Marina. They were incredibly friendly and helpful. They answered all my questions about the lake and even gave me a discount on my boat rental! We were supposed to have a free pontoon rental courtesy of Blue Mesa Recreational ranch. We had reservations but sat waiting for over an hour for our rental. Then when it was time to load my husband had to run to get something out of his truck. The staff asked if we had a captain and we said he would be right back. He came back and the staff said how to start the boat and that we could go. That was it! So we went cruising out on the water but our boat died. We called and they sent staff out with another boat and that was all fine. We didn't complain about waiting an hour for the boat, the fact that the boat died on us, etc. We continued to cruise on the lake with the new boat and then later we had stopped by the beach to let the kids off to swim. Two staff members came up and were aggressively saying we were supposed to have the pontoon back by 430 and that beaching wasn't allowed. They said they went over it with us yet it was never brought up or discussed. If that would've been the rules, we would've been happy to follow them. But nothing of the sort was ever mentioned. Not to mention that we had 4 adults on the pontoon and all were witnesses to nothing of the sort being communicated. Apparently this was supposed to be addressed during the check in, which they failed to complete. And apparently we were supposed to go through a checklist before returning with the boat. Again, we're responsible adults that have no problem following the rules if properly communicated. Instead of them being partly responsible they charged us $191 for the pontoon being late, and for beaching the pontoon (even though they said no damage took place) No accountability for the fact that they failed to communicate any of the protocols and the fact that they have young adults running the marina with attitude. Would not recommend or ever use this business again. read more

I made a boat rental reservation for the 4th of July about a month ago and was charged 50.00. When I showed up with my Family to go fishing on the morning of the 4th I was told that they didn't have a boat for me. I asked why and received two different storries. 1 my boat broke down and 2 they overbooked. I asked why they had not called me and they said they tried at 7 am on the 4th. We left home at 6:30 am to make it there by the time they had posted on their website as their opening time. 7:30 am. I expressed my displeasure and all they could say is I'm sorry. But what about the reservation they made me pay for? They said I could have a refund and nothing more. We were verry unhappy at having wasted the fuel for 2 vehicles to get all of us up there. When I got home I went to their Facebook page and posted a review trying to warn others of what I consider unfair business practices. They promptly deleted my comments and blocked me from further posts. I asked my FB friends to go to their site and tell them what they thought and every one that did was also deleted and blocked. Why are they so afraid of others hearing of how they treated me? I think they have a standard practice of overbooking on holidays and would like others to know about it. If I can stop just 1 person from getting screwed like I did then my efforts are worth it. read more
