a parking lot next to a lake

Wine is good - food is decent. We had the hot pretzels, which we didn't like and the mushroom pizza, which we liked People were nice - service was slow. We waited over an hour for a pizza The view is beautiful. We were there in April and I saw one igloo set up. I do not have information about it though There are multiple patio levels. One is outside right by the lake, one is enclosed off the back of the winery. Would come back - and hope a few things were better

Food is incredibly mediocre - the restaurant would be incredible if they upped their pizza game (I.e make their own dough and sauce). Great atmosphere and great service.

Beautiful venue on the southern point of Portage Lakes. They have an extensive multi-level patio plus a nice covered area. Wines, beer and food available. We had beer from neighboring brewers Mucky Duck and a glass of cab to go along with fold overs. Very tasty. We'll try more wines the next time we visit.

Tastings: $1 each or do 3 for $5 and get a free wine glass. *they will also give you a free "splash" if you are just trying to decide which what you'd like for a glass or bottle. We tried: Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot Noir We ended up getting a bottle of the Pinot Noir and sat outside in the heated part of their patio. I wish it had been nicer out so we could have enjoyed their beautiful lake views! But I am so glad they had part of the patio enclosed with heaters so we could still sit outside. They have plenty of outdoor seating and even an area down the hill right by the water. I would love to spend an evening down there! The inside was nice too and had a fireplace. They also had games under some of the tables to play as well. We also ordered the Caprese pizza which was quite yummy. However, it is a thinner crust pizza so not the most filling. It came out very quick! We loved the big chunks of mozzarella and whatever was drizzled overtop (I forget what it was called now). This was defiantly one of my favorite wineries we visited. My mom and I had a great evening here and would love to come back when it's warmer to enjoy their outdoor space.

Delicious pizzas that are the perfect thin, crispy crust. Amazing toppings on all of them. Last I went we got the buffalo chicken, bbq brisket, and caprese. All of them tasted amazing, the only issue was the caprese, cheese wasn't melted quite enough, but it tasted so good it was hard to complain. Plenty of wines to choose from that are all delicious, maybe a little sweet for some, but very good. Also plenty of beer to choose from a local brewery called the Mucky Duck. All very delicious. A nice selection of apps and assorted chocolates at the front make this a sure fire great time.

What is the price range for the bottles of wine?

$20 and up, try the wine slushee! It's great on a hot day. I don't recall the price for it though. ?

We called to find if there was availability and due to the weather there was a lighter crowd than normal. We drove down from the Cleveland Clinic at 5:15pm. Pulling into the parking lot the winery is in a residential area and grapevines surround the place. Nicely landscaped and designed facility. Inside the atmosphere is what you Would expect if visiting a winery. Smaller tables, wine racks, soft sofas, and a big bar. Really nice. We drink reds, so Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinot were ordered as they rated high/the best in California's latest wine competition. Young wines (less than 3 years) but good. The Pinot Noir was outstanding. Dinners are shared (I learned that) so order with that in mind. We had 1/2 loaf of bread, Vineyard Salad (excellent house dressing) and it was crisp, and Spaghetti Bolognese. All was prepared and presented very well. I'd order again. General Mgr Pete was personable and a wealth of information. Sun his graciousness, he offered a quick tour (and as a home winemaker myself) this was a treat. The production area was clean, limited in space, and organized. A barrel room is always a treat to visit and MA's is climate and humidity controlled. And of course smells fantastic. A great visit! And a return trip is planned soon. Oh crud, visit the bakery! Delicious and a must for chocolate lovers. And non-chocolate lovers too.

Unfortunately our party was not able to enjoy the Tasting Experience. The group was traveling through the snowstorm from Cleveland and admittingly were late. We acknowledge that. However, the person told us that perhaps we could use the tickets tomorrow(we appreciated his offer, but we have things already scheduled so we won't be able to go. I called this morning to inquire about additional days/times when our group might be able to return to use the tickets since it was a purchase of $250. Perhaps a credit or a gift card. Essentially this is what he offered last night. However, the young lady who answered the phone today simply read me their no-return policy. Of course, I read that policy when I purchased the tickets and understood it perfectly. However, due to the weather and a group of eight 70 year old women trying to get from Cleveland to Canton to celebrate, I would have thought the establishment would have been more customer friendly and at least provided a reasonable solution. They left Cleveland at 3:30 pm for a 6:30 pm reservation and were still late. That speaks to the weather and traffic. Since Gervasi/Cave it prides itself on its customer service, I expected more from them. I was not asking for a refund at all, just a way to use the month that I have already paid to this winery. The group did fine at the Crush House which was fine, however, due to the poor customer service and lack of compassion, I do not recommend. When I grew up in NE Ohio, every establishment always understood that horrible weather and went out of their way to try to accommodate people delayed because of it. I will be posting this review on all platforms available.

OK, whatever, they were busy. We were overcharged for our wine by a $1, but we let that go. The thing that annoyed me most was that they weren't even serving wine in the right glasses. There are red wine glasses and there are white wine glasses; You're a wine bar - serve it in the proper glass. So maybe it's just that one night when there was a crowd. Sadly, no. Went after work last week and only four other patrons. The three guys hanging out with owner all had red wine in red wine glasses, but the guy next to me got red wine in a white wine glass. So apparently they're just clueless. Or perhaps they were saving all the red wine glasses for friends of the owner. As far as wine selection, thumbs down. Maybe 20 whites, total. There are many, many restaurants with better selections, such as Papa Joe's, the Bistro in Kent, that will even serve your wine in the right wine glass -- imagine that! To be honest, I don't get the sense that they're taking their business seriously, more like, "Hey, let's open a wine bar! We don't know jack about wine or the service industry, but it couldn't possibly be THAT hard, right? We'll print up the wine lists on the home computer and put them in these 3 prong cardboard folders left over from when the kids were in middle school. Piece of cake."
