Naughty, naughty, this is how you'll feel after a meal at Naughty Piglets. The menu is a selection of tapas and contrary to their name, they do not have pig only. I was actually quite surprised with the selection of fish/seafood the place offer. When we arrived, our really nice french waiter suggested we took the whole menu - there's only 10 dishes so it's not hard to eat everything when you're 4. I think the menu changes often but I would definitvely recommend the mussels with ham and the mackerel with pickled cucumber (the sauce was so good we've asked for extra bread to "sauce the plate" - not something you're supposed to do when you have manners, but it was so good, it would have been a shame to not do it). Bread itself was very very good - as good as french bread can get (a rare find in London). Wine list was very simple but with really unusual wines. I had for example Orange wine, a sort of white wine where they keep the skins of the grapes and give its orangy color. The staff is really really friendly and had real knowledge of their product. It was definitively worth a trip to Brixton.

I now understand what the fuss is all about. Naughty Piglets is a great addition to the burgeoning food scene in Brixton. If you want something more upscale than most of the places in the market, this is your spot! It serves modern, inventive cuisine at moderate prices. The service is also friendly and très amicale! We sat at the bar. You will need to literally climb up onto the bar stools as they are very high and designed for aspiring giants. A bit of a challenge if you have a couple of drinks underneath your belt already. That said, the bar is a great spot to eat at. You can see back into the kitchen and the wait staff are super friendly and up for a bit of chit chat. We started with the ham croquettes which were hot, crunchy with gooey hammy yumminess. They were a bit on the heavy side but delicious nonetheless. Next up, burrata, broad beans and olives. What they don't tell you is that it comes with a lemon curd like sauce which works amazingly well with the rest of the dish. The burrata wasn't the best I've ever had but I still really enjoyed this dish. Simple but the flavours paired together really well. We then tried the Devon crab, peanut and pickled cabbage. This was fresh and vibrant. I still prefer crab in the shell which tends to enhance to flavour of the meat but what was nice about this dish were the fleshy chunks of crab. I thought this was good but it wasn't my favourite dish of the evening. The boudin noir, cuttlefish and capers dish was beautifully presented. I quite liked this dish which was a great variation from the usual black pudding and scallops pairing. The capers really helped cut through the richness of the dish. Delicious! Our final dish was the BBQ pork belly, sesame with Korean spices which comes topped with salad and scallions. The was a yummy dish. The pork was melt in your mouth tender and paired really well with the freshness of the salad. A keeper! We also had a delicious bottle of gamay that our very knowledgeable server recommended to us. Our meal came to a very reasonable £85, including service. We had an excellent evening at Naughty Piglets. Everything was done right and the atmosphere was friendly and laid back. Definitely coming back!

They are clearly proud of what they have achieved here and it really shines through in their demeanour. I felt the food was slightly hit or miss. The nicest thing we had was the tomatoes with whey vinaigrette and ricotta. The tomatoes actually tasted like tomatoes! The smoked trout was lovely although the dish's flavours were either fish or onion. It needed some acidity to bring it to life. The cabbage was fine too but you really need to work cabbage to make it shine. I liked the grilled aspect to the dish but the flavours fell a little flat. I did like the panelles. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. The presentation needed a little work and a different dip than ketchup would have made the dish more than just a fancy variant of chips and dip. All that said, we had a really nice visit. You can sit outside on a nice day and just enjoy the energy of Pop Brixton. It's fun! Super staff!

The place is above a bar and looks like a converted flat. Nothing fancy, just cozy and comfortable. From beginning to end, we were so happy. Even the bread and butter was delicious! Our table treats included kale chips, a dried meat with some sweetness and spice, and red beets on crunchy crackers. My descriptions aren't doing justice to the sophistication and care of the preparations, but these bites were more than pleasing and I could have eaten 10 of the kale chips. It's a good thing I didn't, because everything else that followed was delicious as well. The first course was a deconstructed fish "taco." The fish was kind of ceviche-like, and the clean fish flavor blended so well with the other flavors, including lime and jalapeno. There was an intermediate course not on the menu: a pâté with flat bread and a mustard sauce. Every aspect of this was delicious. The main course was smoked grouse, and it was perfection. The texture was so tender, and the smoky flavor was amazing. Perhaps the highlight of the meal was dessert: a sweet corn tart with popcorn ice cream. Wow, the corn tasted sweet, but in a good way. You could really taste the freshness of the corn, and it went perfectly with the texture of the pastry and the contrast with the saltiness of the ice cream. We were really full at this point, but this dessert was so good we had to finish it all. Being gluttons, we also had to polish off the delicious petit-fours: raspberry canelé and peach popsicles. Yum! The two chefs and founders, Remi and Aaron, were also the servers, and service was very friendly and attentive. It was reminiscent of going to a dinner party, except with professional (and very gifted) chefs. I was blown away with the range of foods we had; the different types of ingredients and preparations. I hope they find a suitable permanent space, and maintain the friendly vibe. I can't wait to try their cooking again soon!

They specialize in exquisite cocktails and more refined fare, plates you might see in ritzier London hoods, maybe even Mayfair. Overall the service was beyond fantastic with our server being perfectly attentive and charming, providing just enough guidance and explanation to enhance our experience. My companion and I each opted for the prix fixe "journey" dinner, with about 4-5 small plates with accompanying cocktails. I chose the Eastern tinged "Silk Road" and my companion went for the "Castilian." The small plates were beautifully presented and had about two to three bites. My journey featured duck, crisp rolls, perfectly cooked fish, and other tasty tidbits. Even the runner was wonderfully cordial, filled with smiles. I would definitely return, even to just sit at the fun bar and people watch.

Some friendly, but could not cope. Starters were average but extremely tiny. A bit of a rip off. Clearly "English" artichokes were used as I have never seen such a disappointment of a vegetable. (See my photo for size). Two bites and done. Mains - burger was probably the only hit on the table. Other dishes to avoid, the stuffed corgettes, waterery tasteless matter, as if they had been frozen. The cote de boeuf, what a disgrace. Asked for medium rare, came bleu, not exactly the most tender piece of meat but this, this was dreadful. Fatty throughout, with tough stuff, the bone had some meat but not enough to take off nor was the meat tender enough. (See photo posted). Pure and simple, the meat was a joke. The manager excuse didn't work for me. After such a disappointment of a meal, we wanted to leave , although we would sit there for a while until service resumed again. Bill please! Let's get out now! Never again.
