Pat and Ricardo were both wonderful to work with and really took the time to listen to what we wanted and needed for our space. Our backyard is on a hill, which made the project a bit more challenging, especially with the installation of a retaining wall. But the team completely transformed our yard into a beautiful, functional space! They installed turf, built the retaining wall, and added new plants throughout. We now have so much more usable space to enjoy, which has made such a difference! The entire crew was very professional, hardworking, and paid great attention to detail. We're so happy with how everything turned out and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to transform their outdoor space!

From the moment I reached out to Pat, we connected right away. He is incredibly knowledgeable about landscape design, layout, and all things plants. He really helped us see what was possible. Once it was cleared, we finally saw how much usable space we truly had -- and we even uncovered a view! We were so pleased with the entire process -- from design to execution -- and absolutely love the end result. Working with Pat and Ricardo was seamless, professional, and collaborative. We're already looking forward to having them transform our front yard next. We highly recommend Universal Pavers for anyone looking to reimagine their outdoor space!

I try to be a reasonable person and I, in my opinion gave BAYSL more than enough 2nd, 3rd and even…read more4th chances. Despite their claim of being the "#1 concrete driveway contractor in the SF Bay Area," and assurances of quality and timeliness, my experience with BAYSL was overwhelmingly negative. If you value a correctly done or on-time project, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. Communication has been a HUGE issue. Repeated calls, texts, emails, and follow-up attempts were consistently ignored. Furthermore, BAYSL failed to honor their written "1-year workmanship warranty" when problems arose, choosing instead to abandon the project and cease contact. The project involved a steep driveway requiring traction lines, which BAYSL assured me they could handle. Despite extensive discussions and detailed visual aids provided to ensure alignment, the execution was deeply flawed from the beginning. The initial wooden form was uneven and wavy, requiring my intervention to correct. The first concrete pour was equally problematic. On a day exceeding 90 degrees, the team appeared unprepared and struggled to implement the agreed-upon traction lines, resulting in a visibly messy driveway. Ultimately, they agreed to cut out and redo the entire driveway. Trusting their expertise, I allowed them a second attempt in October 2023. I was assured they had prepared and tested the necessary tools for the traction lines. However, on the day of the replacement pour, their new tool appeared unused, and my concerns were dismissed. Predictably, the second attempt to create traction lines also failed, resulting in a rough finish. While a discount was provided to placate me on now owning an ugly driveway, the issues did not end there. Within 6-8 months, cracks appeared in the concrete, and the overlays used for curb cleanup began to break. I reported these issues in June 2024. After a week's delay, they promised to follow up, but it took another two weeks and a follow-up email to receive a response. Eventually, AJ and Danny inspected the damage and agreed to address it. However, this was followed by another period of silence. After multiple follow-up emails in July and August, AJ finally outlined a plan of action in mid-August and promised a date for repairs. Despite my prompt response, there was no further communication. Subsequent follow-up emails in September and October were largely ignored, with a brief reply in late September stating repairs would occur "in the coming month." A request for a phone call was also ignored. By late 2024 and early 2025, their Yelp and Google listings indicated temporary closure, and their company email address bounced. I assumed the situation was a lost cause. However, noticing their Yelp page reactivated recently, I decided to try again. Unsurprisingly, there was no response to my outreach. As a last resort, a friend contacted them for a landscaping inquiry, and Dennis responded, expressing interest in new work. This provided me with a working alternative email address, which I used to contact Dennis and AJ again about the outstanding repairs. Dennis responded that they "never got any of the emails" and were "waiting for better weather conditions" - despite months of inaction across various weather conditions. He also stated he was no longer involved in day-to-day operations and directed me to Danny. I texted Danny, who said AJ would contact me. I have yet to hear from AJ, and Danny no longer responds to my texts. In summary, BAYSL demonstrated a pattern of poor communication, unprofessional execution, failure to honor their warranty, and ultimately, abandonment of the project. Their initial claims of being a top contractor in the Bay Area are in stark contrast to the reality of my experience.

They were timely and responsive, constantly giving us updates on what work they would be doing and when they would be at our house. Alex went beyond our expectations to do more work than we had even agreed upon to make sure that the job was completed to his expectations (which were beyond ours). They installed high quality turf, installed a rock/ fire pit area, and re-grouted our patio as part of the warranty from years before. They did a complete job. The team was very professional and friendly. They cleaned the mess upon completion of the work. I would highly recommend them as they were flexible with changes and worked with my wife to make sure that everyone got what they wanted within the budget/quote. Thanks Alex and team

They did not skimp on quality of effort nor quality of work. Like every homeowner project the need for good communication is key to a happy outcome. Steve outshines in this area. He listened to me describe mine and my yard's individual need. I had a nightmare situation of invasive tree roots growing from under the fence from adjoining neighbors excessively thorny trees. The consequence were thorny tree shoots growing throughout my backyard and its sucker branches popping up on every 2-3 inches along the way. It eventually took over my lawn area by 25ft + in every direction. And it was growing longer! This made it impossible to walk on the lawn and enjoy without being stabbed and bloodied by long sharp thorns. I needed these tree roots traced and dug out completely all the way to the fence line before applying new landscaping. Gaspar and Henry did an excellent job of removing each one of these multiple roots by hand digging. Very laborious and yet they handled it well in the hot summer sun and doing a complete and excellent job. They did it quickly and I thank them tremendously. I had to make the hard but wise choice of not re-sodding and no longer having a lawn. Steve was very patient and guided me to the right choices of landscape material that would help me eliminate this problem from reoccurring on my yard. Steve and his crew (Gaspar and Henry) were a blessing and gave me back my yard. Thank you, sincerely. It was a great experience to work with Awaken Landscapes. I would use them again.

The partnerships were well integrated and it felt like working with a single team. See my Google Maps review for more on YPG. We are very happy with our project and would recommend LEI because they were professional, courteous, reliable, and provided clear and upfront pricing. Documenting decisions in writing proved helpful for keeping everyone on the same page. Any problems we had were resolved fairly, such as correcting the direction of our stairs. Aaron is a man of his word but prefers to conduct most of his business through texting. We first contacted LEI and they promptly scheduled a time to visit our property with YPG to see what was possible within the budget we set out. We completed the design with YPG and LEI scheduled a time for the project demolition. A later approximate time for planting was set, but that was dependent on the availability of the various plants we had selected. Everything scoped in the design was completed within the budget and any add-ons we later requested were priced separately and fairly.

After deciding to remove our pool, we hired Aaron as the installer for our new landscape project, and we are so glad we did. For months, work was moving forward almost every day, from demolition prep and grading to hardscape, planting, irrigation, lighting, fencing, pergola installation, pebble work, and the finishing touches. The quality of the work was excellent throughout. The paver patio, carport, and front entry all turned out beautifully, and the plants, irrigation, and lighting were installed with great care. We were especially impressed by the rock and pebble work, particularly the dry creek and front mow strip. The mix of stone sizes gave everything a natural, detailed, and polished look that really elevated the final result. Aaron also has a strong eye for detail. He regularly caught things that needed adjustment, even when we had not noticed them ourselves, and he stayed focused on getting everything right. While there were some issues that delayed finishing the project, Aaron took responsibility and worked with us to make them right, which we truly appreciated. In the end, what matters most is that we are thrilled with the outcome. Our yard feels beautiful, welcoming, and complete, and we look forward to years of enjoying it.
