It was worth every credit and I honestly would come back and pay the regular price! Upon arriving to the spa, the receptionist greeted me and gave me a tablet to check in and fill out my preferences for the massage, including choosing the style of music, scent of body butter, conversation level, and pressure. I loved they had a little display where you can smell the many body butter options before choosing one, and the friendly receptionist gave me her recommendations for a lighter scent. On the tablet you also answer questions about your health related to the massage (sensitive areas or injuries for example) so the masseuse is aware. After I was done they gave me a tour of the women's locker room which was immaculately clean. They had 2 changing rooms, a shower, private bathroom, a sink with lots of amenities, clean towels, slippers, and lockers. They gave me a locker which had my robe to change into. The robe was sooooo soft and fluffy. It had a nice weight to it, like I was wearing a blanket but with pockets! They encouraged I take my time and when I was changed and ready, I could walk into the lounge waiting area where my masseuse would meet me. The lounge had soft lighting, a nice variety of snacks and sweets and tea, comfy seating, a journal with little encouraging messages from past patrons, books and coloring, and a heated container with neck pillows that you can use! My masseuse arrived promptly so I enjoyed these amenities after my massage. The masseuse Eric was so lovely! They showed me to a massage room, oriented me to where to put my robe and glasses, and let me know the table was heated and they could adjust it to my preference. They also asked about my massage preferences and areas of focus. Once I was settled in, Eric came back and I had the most relaxing swedish massage! Perfect pressure and balanced on both sides. I was floating after! They brought me tea after and then I spent some time in the lounge. Overall incredible experience. All the staff were lovely, and the experience from entering the spa to leaving was so relaxing. I also loved the have a huge free parking lot! Its a shared parking lot in a plaza, so you can park right in front. It was a bit tricky to get into the lot from the main street if you have to turn left into it (you'll see a large sign for SPF which is a pickle ball spot that shares the lot). I ended up turning left into a small street and finding my way into the lot from there. Definitely check it out for your next spa day!

I was blown away at how effective this treatment was and really enjoyed the experience. Although I may not make the hike out to the city for this same Spa, I will definitely be looking into similar treatments in the suburbs. From when we walked in, we were provided with cute flats to wear. They checked our scalp for current status. My scalp tends to get oily quickly, but underneath I also have fairly bad psoriasis (at least that's what the dermatologist says). They noticed my oily scalp but I told them to check underneath as well. I wish I could have captured before and after photos under the microscope! My scalp looked, felt, & smelled so much better after the treatment. There were 2 of us in a room at a time, and we undressed our top half to climb into a little spaceship-looking full- body massage chair. I wasn't sure whether the focus would only be on my scalp for the full 90 minutes, but she also massaged my shoulders, my arms, and my feet. It was really a relaxing experience. The ladies didn't speak the best English, but they indicated that recommendation is to return every 14-15 days for this treatment. Again, I didn't take any photos, but days later my scalp still feels healthier & less itchy/irritated than normal. I highly recommend!

When she asked why, I informed her my partner just got laid off that week and we were down to one income so I needed to watch my expenses. Her response was that I'm not going to find another place cheaper. I tried explaining again that with the holidays and young kids, I had to be mindful of expenses with just my income. I asked if I could call to schedule in January since she told me the first 2 weeks in January wouldn't work. She replied she doesn't do that and walked out of the room. Mind you I have 5 prepaid facials and 2 prepaid sauna sessions that have not been used. In my experience, Tracy was consistently adding on services that I never asked for, so every visit ended up being way more than anticipated. She was also disrespectful in the very few times I needed to reschedule due to illnesses or other medical reasons.

Where should a massage therapist display their certification and how do we know it's the same…read moreperson? First time to this spa. Because of my experience, I was surprised with the positive ratings from others. My issue is with the woman providing the Massage versus the spa. I was surprised, but not unhappy, about wearing the provided outfit. It was rumpled and a bit scratchy but I view massage as physical therapy so got into the athletic vibe vs pampering. In retrospect. I should've kept on my panties as I don't know their laundry practices. My best massages have been w/my loose clothes on so the therapist can freely move limbs, etc. In this case it was more about modesty which is cool. It started well; a scalp massage, which is often skipped, so it was a treat. Skipping the traditional gliding motions that often identify problem areas, she went directly into pressure kneading my trapezius and scapulae area. I DID request deep tissue but typically there are broader motions that prep the muscles to accept that level of pressure. I breathed into it. Her understanding of English was very low and I started to pay closer attention. She was aggressive working near my spine (not on) but her stroke directions were in the proper direction, so I appreciated the approach. The legs, that was unorthodox. The strokes were lateral across the quads without first gliding along the direction of the muscles. I was clearly uncomfortable, twisted my body and motioned for her to stop. I did say "no" she paused and then did the same thing with less pressure. I waived my hands to indicate no more. There was no glute work nor calf's but I was relieved. I don't recall arms but maybe. I was mentally flipping thru decades of massages, often with an ongoing masseuse, and could not recall my quads being massaged like that other than perhaps small areas near ligaments to slowly work out an adhesion. She was doing my hands and it occurred to me, by the motions she was making, she seemed most knowledgeable about scalp and hand massages. Those services are often found in beauty salons. I really question if she was certified in the state of Illinois to give a full massage. She brought out hot stones, which is probably part of the routine and placed them on my back without first checking the temperature and they were very hot. I sat up on the table. She switched the technique and rubbed the sides of the rocks quickly across my back (much better, thanks) and then placed all of them flat again on my back, prompting me to once again to sit up. We could not communicate with one another. She was very sweet. I have had massages given by people with very little English skills, but through hand motions, tones and simply strong skills on the masseuse's part, it's never been an issue. I tipped generously. I hope your experiences are better than mine as I had only on massage. In the future, when I go to other spas, I'm going to look for certifications hanging on the wall.

The whole thing was so relaxing; I could have easily passed out but I wasn't sure if that was frowned upon. Amber told me later that it happens a lot :D I've done a fair amount of my own research about certain ingredients. I'm not an idiot. I understand that she wants to sell products and I thought she did a nice job explaining the importance of a skincare regimen without seeming condescending or too pushy. I bought the sample sizes of the products she recommended and they're REALLY nice so she obviously knows what she's talking about. In addition to knowing that I was in capable hands, Amber is such a sweet person. She is really genuine and easy to talk to. I recently had another facial with someone else and it did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for my skin so I am really missing Amber.

When I first found…read moreAmber, I didn't hesitate to book her based on the amazing reviews she has, and I was not disappointed. It was early October and I was having some breakouts a bit more than usual, figured it was stress or hormones, maybe both. I was unsure what appointment to book as I don't treat myself to facials as often as I should, so I messaged Amber and got a response back immediately. She gave me a suggestion based on my skin type and I booked for an appointment that coming Saturday. When I walked into her room, she greeted me with a smile, and, a glass of wine! It was a delicious red blend, apothic maybe, and set me in such a relaxing mood while I filled out the new patient papers. Once we began the treatment, Amber did an amazing job at making sure I felt comfortable, and had a good understanding of what it was she was treating at that time. I'm a bit more curious than some, so asked questions, which she skillfully answered. After the treatment my skin felt so fresh and amazing, I was very impressed at what she was able to do. Also, I purchased a few of the products she offers, and I swear the Seaweed Oil I use is a godsend, and I don't know how I ever survived without it! My most recent visit to Amber was to focus on dry skin that the Chicago winter had caused on my face. As a Florida native, my body just will never get used to the cold weather. She was able to personalize her winter facial special to my skin type, and I left once again feeling even more hydrated and beautiful than before. Sadly, I have since relocated to Denver and can't visit Amber as frequently as I would like. But she is an absolute pleasure to meet in person and I would definitely try to come back next time I am visiting in Chicago.
