Wow! If you are looking to plant, garden, or landscape you need to visit Natorp's. We are new-ish homeowners and just now figuring out our landscaping. We had tried two other local nurseries plus Lowe's and Menards without success- sad looking plants and no help who could advise us on planting for our mostly shaded area. Natorp's was completely different and above and beyond our expectations! As soon as you drive in, it's beautiful and clearly marked. The woman at the customer service desk directed us to a perennial specialist who was so knowledgeable with 30+ years of experience! She helped us find everyone on our list and more. The plants are so well organized, labeled, and easy to find. And they were so healthy- even though it was fall when we visited! I can't stress enough how helpful everyone here was. We were helped by at least 4 people who were so smiley and engaging and willing to find anything for us. They shared that they grow everything there and that they have hundreds of acres! And the prices... you would expect a place like this to charge more for the experience and plant quality but they are an outlet so the prices are amazing. My mother in law is a seasoned gardener and told us she had paid almost 3x what we were paying for some of our plants. You get the "club price" just for buying it- so easy! They will load the plants in your car after, truly taking care of you until the last moment. We were still shopping til closing time and they didn't rush us out and helped us even a few minutes before close. This was a bit of a drive from us but worth every minute! We already know we'll come back when it's time to plant more of our yard, and will recommend it to anyone in the market for plants and a wonderful customer service experience. read more

In the thick of spring planting, you'll find incredible variety of plants here! It's amazing. It's enormous. I was looking to plant a little herb garden, and specifically wanted a couple different kinds of thyme for full sun. Other nurseries I visited had maybe one or two kinds -- at Natorp's, I found about 6-7 different kinds to choose from. I also left with different oreganos and heirloom tomatoes. I had to restrain myself - but you get the idea: if you are looking for variety and healthy, we'll-cared for plants, this is the place. Parking: this was a prime May Saturday, so we were in overflow parking. Boatloads of people. Line to pay, but moved fairly quickly with lots of cashiers. So, if you are a newbie and shopping on a weekend in the spring, come prepared with patience. Otherwise, time your visit and enjoy! read more

I went here today to find some new house plants to add to my front porch display. This is definitely a mega-store: I found a huge collection of a variety of plants -- lots of choices of healthy growth, well-cared-for, organized in an easy-to-find grid with good signage. The prices seemed on the high side -- I guess I erroneously assumed a larger volume of plants would mean lower prices. But the super-friendly staff did make up for that. For example, I found a plant "fragment" on the ground, and asked a worker if I could take it home (I always ask, as some stores are very much opposed to, essentially, giving you free starter plants). She was not only enthusiastically agreeable about it, but found 4 or so more "throwaway pieces" to give me. Of course with that type of generosity I had to buy some of my own plants as well. And found the check-out process to be very easy -- I love that they have a guide at the entrance ensuring the customer flow & letting you know which cashier is available. And the cashier was also outgoing, friendly and effusive. However, I was taken aback by all the information they ask from you in order to check out -- your name, address, phone etc., and I did refuse to give them my email and lied about my phone number, because I didn't want extraneous adds or sales calls (but definitely know I'm going to start seeing snail-mail flyers from them nevertheless). It seemed a little too personal a price to pay to be able to obtain some plants. But, with those reservations noted, it was still a well-organized business with amazing healthy plants, lots of choices and friendly staff. As the store wrote a reply to this review, I need to answer that response: I was never informed the reason for the information, or asked if I wanted to join Natorp's "Plant Club." (I would have said "no.)" I was just asked the information, as a requirement of checking out. Not appreciated. read more

I love Natorp's Nursery Outlet and have been shopping there for years. The service is outstanding, and everyone is friendly--and knowledgeable. The selection is vast, and one can surely find plants to create a gorgeous landscape or garden. I visit Natorp's Outlet almost every week during the spring and fall. The "order ahead and pick-up service' is incredibly convenient and easy. The greenhouse is very organized, making shopping for what I want easier. It's fun to take the time to walk around and see what they have in stock. For those who find the prices high, consider the number of employees they hire during the peak seasons, the service, the well-kept grounds and greenhouses, and the few weeks in spring and fall when they have to profit. I have never purchased any failed plants there (as long as I care for them as I should). Other places may have lovely plants but don't offer the same conveniences. read more

Never realized how huge Natorp's is! Made a fatal mistake and went in the heat of spring while everyone else was shopping for spring clean up. They were PACKED. For this reason, we just looked around and didn't make a purchase. Be mindful of this! It was fun to look around and put a name to plants we have at home from previous owners. You could come here and get a good education on plants as each one has a sign with name and facts. Outside trees look very healthy and we were happy to price out Magnolias. Pricing seems fair with other places and they offer a discount if you're in their club. Rumor has it it's just a email sign up but I can't confirm. Each worker we ran into were very friendly and helpful. It's a nice stroll with plenty of plant options! read more

This is a superb nursery. They have everything you need from simple planting to larger scale landscaping. They may not be as cheap as the big box stores, but their plants are better quality and do not come with bugs. They often offer coupons in local deal savers so look for those. Waited about 40 minutes for 8 yards of mulch so that they could pack other tree orders in the back. We have a time schedule just like anyone else but I'm here and the people for the orders aren't. Not a great look. Everything else usually goes well. But this was a terrible time. read more

There is no doubt that your plants are of the highest quality and you are open when they should be planted. Holy Guacamole - okay, so you can't buy the guac here, but you can but everything you need to grow and make your own! Whooo Hooo! This was my first visit, to Natorp's Nursery Outlet and it certainly won't be my last! I love it here! The service here is above top notch and there were plenty of staff running around to help answer questions or point us novice folks that mispronounce plant names in the right direction. First, let me say join the Natorp's Garden Club - it's free and you get immediate savings just for signing up and I got a $9.00 coupon good toward the purchase of a perennial. What's not to love about a free plant! Also another good thing to do is to check your Reach Magazine for a coupon -you can use both coupons together. I went in just to buy herbs and a couple of veggies, well 1.5 - 2 hours later...lots of herbs, veggies, plants and flowers later out I come.... Some of the prices here are a little higher than your "big box" stores but I found a lot of items are either right in line or a little cheaper - all of my veggies I bought, except for the asparagus were cheaper than at the "big box" stores. Also, another good thing about Natorp's is that they keep what you buy on file (with your Garden Club) so if you forget a name of a plant, you can describe it and they can look it up for you, or if you have problems with a plant you can return it with your receipt and they will replace it....unless you just kill it more or less..... Free cold water for all customers, they offer planning assistance right in the middle when you walk in if you need help with design and they are pet friendly (keep those pups on a leash) - what what! Oh....and they helped to load all my loot in my car! Saaawwweeeet! I can't wait to go back! read more

I went to Natorp's for the first time on a scouting mission for my new yard. This was my first visit to Natorp's, but it definitely won't be my last! Let me just say it: This place is huge, and if you can't find something, it probably won't grow well in Cincinnati. I have never seen so many plants in one place before- and at such good prices (especially as part of the Garden Club)! Allison was incredibly helpful and sweet when we had questions about particular plants. It really seemed like she and the rest of the staff knew the inventory incredibly well, as well as how to use them and where to put them. I will definitely be looking for her the next time I come in! Bonus, free cold water for customers to stay cool while you look for your plants. I'm pretty sure it doesn't get any better than that! Bottom line: Natorp's is pretty much my number one place for garden needs- and it's worth the trip from Mount Washington to Mason! Sign up for Natorp's Garden Club- it doesn't take long to see that it's a great discount on great quality plants! I love gardening, but I HATE when plants die after all my planning, digging, fertilizing and watering. There's few things more depressing than walking out to a brown garden you've slaved over. So I've pledged never to buy another low-quality plant just because it's cheap. Natorp's is indeed more expensive than the hardware store, but they lovingly raise their plants to healthy and sturdy. My garden looks gorgeous. And they have an interesting variety of unusual plants-- this spring, I was blown away by what looked to be over 100 herb choices, and their shade plant options go beyond the usual, "impatiens or begonias?" dichotomy. i bought a wonderful plum tree today on sale. I was lucky it was the last one. They also helped me to learn how to prepare the dirt properly before planting. They are very sweet people & very helpful... The nursery is also HUGE I've never seen so many plants before. I will be back... Join the club; it's easy & fast to join at the register & you get better deals. Not only was the price of my tree very reasonable but I received an additional 25% off so I received a great deal. I am in love with Natorp's Nursery Outlet. We found a coupon for a free $9 shrub with any purchase, so we decided to give Natorp a try. What started as a quest to only get 2 items turned into a full cart of garden goodies. I wanted to wait a bit before writing this review to see how the plants took. They are doing great. While their prices are higher than big box stores, they more than make up with it in quality, discounts/special offers, and service. Quality plants! Everything looked healthy. The only exception was a rack with a sign "free to a good home." The plants on it had seen better days. We took a couple with us, and all that looked salvageable we planted. All are thriving. Reach magazine has several coupons for Natorp in it. Joining their Garden Club is completely FREE! Garden Club members get discounts. The day we went, it seemed like 3/4 of the plants had special Club member pricing. They had free bottles of water out for customers. The one exception where prices are too high, is their large trees outside. Yes, they look healthy. It makes sense though, seeing as they do take more care and take up quite a bit of room. The additional price for delivery and planting isn't too bad. The smaller ones inside are much better priced. If you give it a few years, they will grow. We plan on going back soon and getting a couple smaller trees. Bring the kids! They had a booth set up where children get to plant their own small plant, and take it home for free! We had to tell my daughter to stop petting and kissing it, or we were going to take it away. She loved that she got to plant it at the store. I am not sure if this is offered all of the time. We went on a weekday. They also let them ride in the large wagons. They are a bit dirty, but that's because they are intended for plants. My daughter didn't mind the dirt. The employees were nice. One who was by the entrance when we came in told us about the free kids plant. Several asked us if we had any questions as we passed. We wanted a couple plants they were still putting out. When they saw us looking, they told us to go ahead and take what we wanted. The guy then asked how many we took, and went to go get price stickers for us. They were relatively busy for a week day. We stopped by here to see what they had in the green thumb variety. It was a hot Sunday afternoon and the parking lot was full of eager gardeners. First off, we checked out the ice cream trolley in the parking lot - unfortunately melty offerings :( - but this is about the garden center. So, they certainly have a lot of variety and a huge building of topsoils and mulches, and you'll probably find whatever it is you're looking for there. But after many trips to many gardening centers, I just wasn't impressed with the quality of plants here. The veggies were bursting out of their little planters and the annuals were wilted and droopy. We watched as multiple employees watered the plants and hoped they have an underground cistern for water recycling, as the precious commodity mostly just watered cement. We even had a coupon, but it didn't make it worth our while. read more

Natorp's customer experience is leagues above Home Depot, Lowes, etc. It is the best place to buy trees, flowers and shrubs around. They have beautiful items, highly knowledgeable staff, and absolutely stand by their products. When a $150 crabapple tree I had bought there was 5 years past the 1 year guarantee, and had been dead awhile, the owner replaced it for me! read more

While we were extremely satisfied with the help at the actual outlet, the customer service representatives have much to be desired. There was a mix-up with receiving a very large tree in lieu of the shrub we personally picked out and paid for. The first gentleman we talked to was kind, but clearly was unsure of how to proceed with such an issue. After promising to call back, we waited an appropriate amount of time before calling back ourselves. The same gentleman forwarded us to the right people to get the issue resolved after we asked to stay on hold instead of waiting for another call back. The last woman we spoke to was presumptuous and rude, accusing us of not noticing we had brought the wrong plant home for multiple days when we had called the moment we received the tree. Nancy also claimed we should have brought the slip, blaming us for them not looking at the correct name, phone number, or item number on the tag. We have someone else's tree with a totally different latin name and their personal name on the tag. Alan, who drove out to bring us our shrub and take the large tree, was delightful and apologized profusely for the mixup and the poor customer service. Its disappointing that our terrible customer service experience was bookended by such amazing interactions at the nursery and delivery. I was aghast at the audacity of management to be so rude and accusatory. After the resolution of this experience I would rate the nursery at 5, the sales associates and delivery gentleman as 5, and customer service as 1 or 0. read more

I've purchased from Natorp's for years. They are a respected grower in the Cincinnati area, and although you can't beat the quality and selection of their plant material, I'd have to say their opportunity is improving the attitude with some of their staff. I frankly had a poor experience in their wholesale area today. I felt my presence was a burden, my business was not welcomed, and the conversation was downright condescending from start to finish. I may not spend as much as some or be able to speak the "lingo," but I do know what a great customer experience looks like and that's not it! read more

Customer service that sets the standard! Natorp's installed a large tree 18 months ago is struggling, with small leaves and a sparse crown. Since it's still alive and past the 1 year warranty period, I asked if they might be able to provide a much cheaper replacement tree or perhaps a buy one/get one free deal to compensate. Natorp's went above and beyond by offering a straight up replacement, several smaller replacements or a full credit. I have not found them to be that much more expensive, but the customer service has made me a customer for life! read more

I was a bit angry when we lost our Natorp's in Union, KY, but after I finally got to their consolidated location in Ohio, I discovered is was worth the drive and I buried all my disappointment in enjoying the new store so much more than the old one. Prices are a lot better and the choices and variety of flora is amazing! It's wonderful that if you have any questions, there is usually a knowledgeable employee in an orange shirt to help you. For such a big place Natorp's selection of trees and bushes is narrow. If you're after ho-hum boxwoods and yews they've got lots of them. If you're looking for something out-of-the-ordinary then you're out of luck. Also many bushes and trees are stored indoors so they are not used to full sun. That can cause stress on the plant when you take it home. Prices are very high on the things I looked at (in particular globular blue spruce). Sharon Nursery has better selection at lower prices.
