We had to start out with Say What??? (fried deviled eggs with bacon jam). They were very tasty and the bacon jam on top was the perfect topper. My husband and I split the peanut crusted trout and the pecan pear salad. Portions were generous and we were both stuffed. The trout was phenomenal...very twnder and tasty! Paired with brussel sprouts which had a great flavor and extra tasty (especially when you dipped them in the sauce from the trout). The Pecan pear salad was really good! Very generous with all the goodies (pecans and raisins) and lightly dressed. Michael was great and kept us well taken care of. We will definitely be back the next time we come through!! We really liked our visit to Native Brews Tap & Grill along the main stretch through Cherokee, NC. A bit further down the road, away from all the tourist shops, sits this sizable indoor and outdoor seating space brewery. Don't go past the light, or you'll miss it. Suggested to us by a local, we nestled up to the bar surrounding by who else, locals. This turned from trying something new to an episode of Cheers super fast! We laughed, and conversed, and had a good time to the extent we were really juggling whether to stay the night. But back to Asheville we needed to go. If you're in Cherokee anytime soon, definitely carve out some time for this cool little spot. Good, well-made, bar food. Awesome tasting beers and seltzers on tap. I was visiting Cherokee for Thanksgiving and had dinner one evening at Native Brews. The restaurant was very busy so I had a short wait for a table but there was a comfortable bench to sit on, and if it had been warmer the front porch would have been nice too. Unfortunately they were out of the beer I wanted so I had the Sunrise Vanilla cream, a hard seltzer that tasted like a cream soda. Very sweet and yummy. For dinner I had the Chicken Caprese Pasta entree. The chicken was good and everything was cooked well, but the abundance of garlic was overpowering and it tasted extremely bitter. I usually love garlic but it was too much for me. For dessert I had the brownie a la mode, which was big enough for two or three people. Delicious though! Service was fast and my server checked on me several times as I ate. The dining room has a bar in the center and multiple televisions showing sports, but there is nice music to listen to. This is a great place to visit! Service was very good. The atmosphere is very friendly and upscale. We enjoyed our night. I had the Trout and it was absolutely delicious. One of the two best ways I've had it prepared. (NC Peanut crusted trout, with a Shrimp Florentine cream sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, and fried Brussels). I highly recommend this dish - you can get any sides you want - it comes standard with garlic mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. That's what I stuck with and wouldn't change. The garlic potatoes were good as were the Brussels sprouts. However, the Brussels sprouts at Forager's (in Dillsboro and Sylva) are much better!) My wife got the Fish and chips. The fish had very good cod flavor, but the breading was a little heavy and possibly a tad undercooked. My wife peeled most of the breading off. I had a bite (with breading) and I agree with her opinion. We really enjoyed our visit to this restaurant, so we dined here a second time on our vacation. On our second visit, I got the Monte Cristo and my wife got the fried onion blossom. My Monte Christo was excellent, (it was heavy on the bread - as it was made with Texas Toast). I wouldn't order it again, but the sandwich was very good. (Next time, I'd get a burger - they looked awesome!) My wife's onion blossom was not nearly as good as the ones at Texas Roadhouse - but it was still pretty good - it's hard to mess up a fried onion. We enjoyed everything about this place - some of the food could be better - but it's an overall good experience. Sat at the bar wanting to just have a drink and appetizer. The bar tender was pleasant but seemed distracted multi tasking. I guess she never put in our onion blossom because it never came. Our family of 12 was looking for a dog-friendly place to eat and we were definitely in the mood for some brews. Luckily we found this place, Native Brews Tap & Grill. They had great outdoor seating, with great views of the mountains, plenty of space for kids to run around, and outdoor heaters too. The service was good. The food was satisfying as well. Great portions. Usually my kids will eat everything, but they were beyond stuffed before they could finish their meal... So was I! Hence we went home with satisfied bellies! There were several things I wanted to try on the menu, but knew that wasn't realistic in one visit My kids had fish & chips, chicken carbonara, country fried steak. I had the Warrior Burger. Others in our party had salads and burgers. Everything looked great. Cocktails are my go-to, but because the place was called Native Brews and I was in town for vacation, I definitely had to explore what Native Brews was about. I had the Native Girl Pale Ale. Actually I had two. Had I known it was possible, I would have taken some of their canned beer to-go and have a few back at the cabin. I didn't realize this until I got home and took a look at their website. The inside of the restaurant was very clean and had a great vibe. While visiting family in Cherokee, we decided to stop in for a casual afternoon lunch after traveling about six hours and spending the morning at the Cherokee Festival. I had felt so welcomed at the festival and other small shops around town--but unfortunately, that feeling changed when we came here to eat. We dined in with our four kids, who were well-behaved and quiet. The food itself was really good, but the service left a lot to be desired. Our waitress never smiled, greeted us, or made us feel welcome--just short phrases like, "What can I get you to drink?" and "Are you ready to order?" When she came by once for refills, she spoke in a monotone voice and said to one of our kids, "Can you hand me the cup?" We're very friendly people wherever we go, so it really stood out how cold the interaction felt. I understand everyone has off days, so I still left a $30 tip and wrote on the receipt, "I hope you have a great day," because I was having one and didn't want it to ruin mine--but I could see how this experience could easily ruin someone else's. I'm not sure if the lack of warmth was because we were tourists or just bad timing, but considering how much this area depends on visitors, being welcoming should be a priority. Two of us had a beer each and an entree each, and the check was a bit under $60, which surprised us a bit. My Monte Cristo was awesome, as was (believe it or not) my wife's meat loaf. I really want to know the "secret sauce", behind the green beans that came with the meat loaf. They have a lovely sort of smoky flavor. My wife couldn't eat them all, so we put them in a go box and had them as a side with our home cooked steaks the following night. We sat inside, but they also have a large outdoor patio, including what I think was four lanes of cornhole boards. Possibly other recreational options, not sure. We will be back! read more

We came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. It was busy but we were told by the hostess we could sit at the bar. The restaurant is clean and inviting. The beers here are pretty good. The bartender, Becky (I hope that's the correct name) was so nice and let my husband sample the beer before he made his decision. I got the blonde and ended up ordering a spiced apple martini afterward. That martini was so good. I probably would've ordered a few more but we were driving around that day and thought it was best not to. My husband also got a smoked old fashioned and it was fun to watch it being made. We both got burgers, but they were dry so that's why I knocked off a star. All in all, it was a good place to stop, eat, and have drinks. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. IDK who wrote all the good reviews for this place. I was so excited to try a native beer and my husband and I drove 4 hours to check out this restaurant and Cherokee for his birthday. We were given a pager when we entered and told it was a 30 minute wait. We were told that sitting at the bar was NOT first come first serve and that we would have to be on a wait list even for bar seating. We decided to wait for a table and we were told we could order a beer at the bar while we waited (but not drink it at the bar!), so we thought we would order beers and drink them outside on the patio. There was only one couple sitting at the bar so we approached the bar to order beers. The female bartender did not acknowledge us at all so we flagged her down to order a beer. She was incredibly rude, barked at us about there being a waitlist for the bar, would not allow us to order a beer, then told us that we needed to go to the side of the bar to stand in line to order a beer. There was no line. There was no one else attempting to order a beer at all. Clearly they didn't want business. We then turned in our pager and overheard the hostess tell a man that he could sit at the bar and drink until his table was ready. That is absolutely not true so I told the man that I was leaving because not only are you not allowed to sit at the bar and drink until your table is ready, you also are not allowed to order a beer at all apparently. The manager then came, he knew absolutely nothing about the situation but told me I couldn't order a beer because I didn't have an ID! I have an ID! Nobody ever asked for my ID! That was absolutely not the issue. Having a rude and incompetent bartender is the issue! The place was not crowded at all and it's now easy to see why. They need to get a new bartender, one who has a clue. A new manager would be good too. read more

We stumbled upon Native Brews earlier in the day while exploring town and noticed the packed parking lot so we decided to check it out for dinner and it didn't disappoint! We went about two hours before close on a Saturday and while they were busy they were able to get us seated immediately. Our waitress was nice but not overly friendly, in a good way. She was also quick to help us make decisions and answer questions about the menu. Between the three of us we ordered and appetizer of fried pickles with spicy ranch, and three entrees. I had the fish and chips with coleslaw, my sister had the pot pie upon the waitresses recommendation and our mother had what we considered to be the star of the show, the fried bologna sandwich. Our food came out pretty quickly and everything tasted and looked great. The fried pickles were thin spears and had a nice crunchy breading. They also hold heat like crazy, so cutting them up ended up being the safest way to eat them. The spicy ranch was creamy, a bit mayo forward but you could definitely taste a lot of jalapeno juice. We quite enjoyed these 6.5/10. My fish was well fried but not greasy and the inside was perfectly flaky. I do think it could have used a little salt and lemon, but that's a minor note. The fries are crinkle cut but perfectly fried to golden and *seasoned*. They also came in the cutest little fryer basket! The coleslaw was good, creamy but not sweet at all, which I normally prefer but paired well with the meal. Overall I gave it an 8/10 rating. The pot pie was more of a soup texture with a lattice crust over top. The soup was delicious but the crust could have used some more butter/flavor. My sister happily ate it though and rated it a 7/10. The fried bologna sandwich was actually the deciding factor on why we visited the restaurant as it combined literally all of my Mom's favorite foods. If you go into it expecting it to taste like a simple fried bologna sandwich you may be disappointed, but if you want a delicious meal you definitely won't be. The pimento cheese was more of a creamy sauce than a traditional spread, probably due to the heat, but it lent itself well as a condiment on an overall potentially heavy sandwich. The balogna was generously cut without being too thick and the fried green tomato really put it over the top. The lettuce and onion provided some freshness that kept it from being too heavy. It did come with the same fries, with the same presentation. Rating 8/10. We also sat right by the kitchen and were able to witness the fierce efficiency of the kitchen staff, who are on top of their game without seeming to hate themselves, their coworkers or the job. There was some singing happening, and lots of laughter. It made eating there that much better of an experience. We also got to spy on other plates as they left the kitchen and everything looked great, especially the epic deserts they kept carrying by. We were too full to partake but plan to stop by on our next trip to try those too. Overall this was probably our best meal in Cherokee over the last three trips we have taken this year so far. Stopped for lunch after hiking part of the Appalachian trail. We sat outside under the covered porch area and played alittle corn hole while waiting for a meal to come out. Looks like they are in the process of building a stage so maybe in the future they will have live music. I ordered a Warrior Blonde and the wife got a porter. The Blonde was nice a crisp with a stronger than usual orange flavor. It was refreshing. I ordered the Brew Haus Chicken wrap, wife got a Warrior burger and my brother got the fish and chips and my sister-in-law got the teriyaki chicken bowl. The wrap was good, the chicken was juicy and lots of it, veggies seemed fresh and the jalapeño cream sauce was a just enough spice to put it over the top. The burger was cooked perfectly at medium and and the spicy pimento cheese my wife said was spectacular. The fish and chips were fried up nice and not to greesy but the real star of the lunch was the Teriyaki chicken bowl. The thing was served in half a hollowed out pineapple. The rice was cooked just right, the teriyaki sauce was really good. It wasnt overly sweet like 90% of all teriyaki sauces are.
