The job took several hours and apparently required more help as other techs were brought in to help complete the task. As a side note, we appreciated this being done as we have had projects done before where more help was needed and there was a delay in the job completion while everyone sat around and waited for the help to arrive. The group from "All in 1" did not delay bringing in other folks to help. When the job was completed they cleaned up the entire area and stacked to old material neatly outside for bulk pickup. Costwise: "All in 1" was within the range of other companies but is on the high side for the DFW market, but we felt we got our dollar's worth for the task and would use them again.

This unfortunately has been an underwhelming experience for us. The pros: really nice guy, friendly, good communication, and punctual. The cons: spilled a can of paint right in our door way upon entry. Our guy felt embarrassed and I felt bad so I stayed with him and kept assuring him that's it's alright and offered him multiple beverages (coffee, sparking water etc) to calm him down. That took about 45mins to clean up. Then there's the color matching part. It was a service included but man was I surprised there was no actual expertise in this area from Fixer. They did not match anything correctly, not even close. Even the white paint looks too bright, not to mention the grey paint. See the pictures. Our fixer also forgot tools, such as sand paper of the correct grit. I offered him mine but they are too fine, so took a really long time to do the work and it's not done properly because we needed something under 100 grit to sand everything flush. Lastly, all you see in the pictures are about 90% of the scope of work. It was 5-6 touch up spots, literally. The whole job took FOUR HOURS, from 9am-1pm. The worst part with time is now that I don't completely trust the fixer due to the spilled paint, I'd have to carve out half of my day overseeing the job. Its unacceptable, and honestly, for the quality of work and speed, it's not professional. They charge by the hour, and we are definitely looking for them to adjust the bill for us and make it right.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly The Good - the iron door…read more The Bad - purchase, design, and installation Freedom Iron Door (FID) states - make as many changes as you want to the design of the door before CAD sign off. The owner, Mika, was frustrated w/ the design changes & she threatened to cancel the order stating, "I don't have to put up with this." My concern was that they had my 40% deposit. After that outburst we only communicated via email. - Bluetooth lock - the project manager thought it was funny how sales never tell customers that the Bluetooth only works with a hub and hub is not included. Nothing on the paperwork indicates the need for a hub in order for that feature to work. - Installers will build wall 4.5" framing to support the 6" iron door frame - The right-side door frame over hangs an inch outside of the threshold. - once installed the painters will clean everything up (smudges, marks, etc) - o exterior side of the door has installation spray foam on the paint surface - the painter explains he does not handle that further stating, "you bought a warranty for that - right?" I was not aware the door was not warrantied. Suffice to say, the installation foam does not wipe off. Also shows spray foam around the edges of the door. o Interior side of the door had damage to the paint caused from installation - chipping, denting, black smudges, etc. - during the design phase I asked if the door will have powder coat finish - Mika' s response - YES. The 5/19 email below confirms the door was painted and does not have a powder coat finish. FID failed to notify me that they use spray paint - I work out of my home, and they filled my house with aerosol fumes for 27 minutes. I almost passed out on a business call before I realized what was happening. Had to tell the painter multiple times that he was not authorized to use aerosols inside my home. FID collection agent, Stephanie's states, "You just need to go for a walk and get some fresh air." I could not even lift my head and trying to walk is what caused the incision from a surgery 2 weeks prior to reopen. Their "bubble" was far from effective. The UGLY Lessons, - Ask your neighbors - sales said that FID installed my neighbor's door - after fact checking this statement, my neighbor used an entirely different company. Had I waited I would have used that other door company because of her glowing review. - Read reviews from multiple resources and recognize the red flag when you see employees' names as the authors of the 5star reviews for a company's product. - If you can, check with an architect - this door does not fit the wall framing so now every time I open it I wonder if the door is safe. - Check with your city permitting office - my city requires a permit be pulled when you enlarge a door. - Sadly, it may be best to record every conversation and video the install. My wife and I felt very comfortable choosing him due to his positive attitude, his professionalism and the fact that he really listened to our needs and expectations. We explained that our primary concerns were making sure that the door was properly sealed so that there were no air gaps or places where water could penetrate. I know that some people will read that and think, "Well of course that was your expectation, those points are a given", but stop and think - do you really believe that every handyman takes the time to do a thorough job? They don't. Some do the bare minimum, and often charge you above market price for their shoddy work. Michael@Legit Handyman is the opposite of the "turn and burn Chuck with a truck". He is kind, thorough, and reasonably priced. He takes the time to fix things that were not done properly previously, like sealing unseen areas behind the trim. Another important point is that he doesn't bid on projects that are not his specialty. He doesn't "fake it to make it". If he is not sure that he can leave you satisfied that you got a great value for his service, he will tell you that the project is not something he is comfortable with. We appreciate his honesty and integrity! That said, there are MANY projects that he is comfortable with, and after seeing the quality of his work, we scheduled other work. Again, Michael impressed us with his skill, professionalism, price and kindness. We have scheduled a third project with him. My family really likes Michael. Even though he has customers to get to, he takes the time to talk to our autistic son about the projects. Our son thinks Michael is amazing, and my wife and I agree.
