Wish I didn't have to write this, but buyer beware! Questionable quality, and if you need them back for anything you're SOL. :( 2 years ago we replaced over 10 windows, as well as all the siding, fascia, and soffits around the roof ($35k+!). A couple months ago a large storm ripped about an 8 ft. section of fascia completely off! Literally torn a long strip of metal in two like a piece of paper! A call to their office gets us "Oh, so-and-so is in a meeting, but he'll definitely call you back by the end of the day". Couple weeks go by, call again, I get "Oh, so-and-so is in a meeting, but he'll definitely call you back by the end of the day". Another couple weeks, call again, I get "Oh, so-and-so is in a meeting, but he'll *definitely* call you back by the end of the day". We're still waiting. Meanwhile, I've got 8 feet of rafter exposed to the elements. I question the quality of the metal, to be torn the way it was (wish I could post pic), but even worse, the customer service has been completely unacceptable. Buyer beware. (edit: photos added!)

We ordered windows from Best Buy in May and they arrived mid Oct. When the sales rep Chris Churchill came to our house back in May I specified that my goal was to pull out the existing white frame and install new windows that frame up to the brick - this is called a brick-to-brick installation. Chris told me the term for this, and upon research (I'm not a window expert) this is exactly what I was looking for - as opposed to a retrofit installation. A simple google search pulls this up: https://oakvillewd.com/blog/window-installations-retrofit-brick-to-brick/ Chris and I discussed that Best Buy does not paint in their installation, but he was clear that paint would not be necessary as we were doing a brick-to-brick installation and the new bronze frame would run right up the brick - we discussed how clean and modern this would look - and how it would match up with the new windows we added to the back of the house in an addition two years go. (Picture of the large picture window on bronze below to show the difference.) I also ordered a 40/60 split in the two front windows to match up with the picture window/casement look in the back of the house. I initially wanted to order a picture/casement combo but Chris convinced me to do the 40/60 split. The windows were installed and for one, the front two are a 50/50 split, not a 40/60, and for the other, this is NOT a brick to brick but a standard retrofit installation, using the existing frame from 1950. This TOTALLY not the look we discussed. Initially Chris told me that on installation day when I saw the problem that A. They DID measure for brick to brick and then B. he goes to at least 4 houses a day and can't remember my house and finally that C. this is a "structure to structure" measurement. I spoke to his supervisor on the phone and was told that the owners need to get involved and they would reach out - this was almost 2 weeks ago. I called again last week and was told that they are very busy doing "20 installs a week" and there is an ongoing "investigation" even though no one has reached out to me to even see pictures of the problem, much less come see the house. I get that they must be very busy and this is a small chunk of change for them but it's a significant purchase for our family - as I think new windows are for most people. I may not have much recourse for the installation type, as this was in conversation, not on paper, and I did not know enough at the time to get it in writing, the 40/60 split window order is documented and those windows are flat out wrong. I have not been told anything about what they will do to fix this. Luckily I have only paid the deposit. I told the installers that I wanted to have a plan to fix the issues before we paid the balance due and I'm glad I did, as that seems to be the only reason they will (hopefully?) eventually reach out. If they are going to re-order to at least get the split right I would hope that would happen soon due to the very long lead time, but I would actually like to just order the two front windows from a company that can give me the look I want since it's front-facing. We did also get a quote from Window World that was similar - they had a demo window they brought over and the quality was MUCH better. Best Buy did not have a demo window but I assumed it would be similar since they are both aluminum windows - but these are much less substantial and still feel drafty. Compared to the new windows in the back of the house there is a huge difference. This is a huge bummer as that was a major reason for replacing the original 1950s windows in the front of the house. Also worth noting - 5 out of 6 windows did not come with screens. I'm including pics of damage done to interior sil - these were recently painted so I know the damage was done during installation. Lastly - we had the house exterior trim painted recently and did not include the window frames because I was told they would be removed. It's going to be an added expense to get these old frames prepped and painted to look even halfway decent with the windows.

We used to have the cross panes - these look so much cleaner

Our experience from our initial product demo with Dax to the great communication with their office contact Shelly throughout our job to the polite and skillful team of window installers was absolutely stellar! The Kirks family run their business as if you are a part of their family. The windows fit perfect and the price we paid for 12 windows were far below others - would highly recommend! Home is warmer now and no outside noise - great!

Customer service in the office is an issue. No follow up. Good sales staff and product however.

Imagine hiring a contractor to improve your home, then discovering after the crew leaves that newly installed exterior doors cannot reliably lock, storm doors lack functioning handles or locks, and some entrances cannot be used normally. Now imagine realizing this while your child sleeps inside. Our project involved five exterior doors, four storm doors, James Hardie siding, and closing an exterior window. At one stage, three of four storm doors lacked essential operating hardware. We had to ask: Can we secure our home tonight? Could we use these doors during an emergency? Is our child safe? We could not postpone urgent corrections indefinitely while the owner blocked us, so on our own, we hired consultants to investigate the concerns and offer recommendations. The project was expected to be completed March 16-20, 2026, but remained unresolved months later. Hawkins continued demanding $9,577.20, which we disputed based on incomplete work, corrective costs, credits, reduced scope, and the undelivered door. Because of Hawkins lack of quality control in all aspects of its business, poor documentation and communication, and the countless risks associated with their unacceptable quality of workmanship, we hired consultants and other contractors, involved attorneys, disputed the balance, and completely lost trust & confidence. Don't make the same mistake no matter how "nice" the sales guy seems.

It's like they have a roofing contractor script because most of the companies I looked at told me the same questionable story about getting my roof replaced. I don't know anything about roofing but some of the things I was told couldn't have been correct. I got a total of 5 bids and 3 of those I completely did not trust. Lots of weird games going on as I was getting bids. Marc at Peak was hands down the best to deal with. I actually feel bad because he was the fourth person I got a bid from and I was very guarded and skeptical. Marc was extremely straightforward and in my opinion very honest. He made it very easy. So easy I kept wondering what the catch was going to be. There wasn't one. The range in bid prices was stunning. Even with the same brand of shingles. Peak Roofing's price came in towards the lower end of the bid range so I felt I got good service and quality at a fair price. The roof is such an expensive repair and obviously there's lots of money out there based on the trucks some of these roofing guys drive. Definitely at times an overwhelming experience. I would absolutely recommend Marc and Peak Roofing and Construction.

So, we stuck a pin in it and decided to get back together when more convenient for me. After that, the number of spam phone calls increased. Not a big problem, since I don't usually answer if the calling number isn't in my contacts. But, the traffic of spam texts also increased. And, my wife was getting the same spam calls and texts. Coincidence?? Then, I remembered when I set up the Window World appointment. They wanted the phone numbers of me and my wife. Why would we both all of a sudden be getting solicitations for duct cleaning, gutter work, outdoor light hanging, etc., unless Window World was selling our information. Window World contacted me, wanting to follow up on our window offer, sold I told the representative how I didn't appreciate the load of spam that they started. I'd received various quotes for the job which all seemed too high, but Honest Abe's price was fair for the amount of work required. I was surprised that the job was done in only three days: One day for removing old siding, one day for putting up new siding, and a third day for painting. The quality of the work is very good. My HOA requires me to maintain the same look and colors of my neighbors. Honest Abe was able to match the paint without trouble, and now my walls look like new. There were some issues with electrical work while working on the siding. My detached garage has an outside sub-panel that they needed to move aside during the work. Also, at some point during construction, a nail apparently drove through an electrical line in my bedroom wall, knocking out service. Honest Abe paid for both of these repairs to be corrected, which I think is very honest indeed. All in all, I'm impressed with the craftsmanship of the workers, and the integrity of the company, and I must highly recommend them for any construction needs. I'll certainly be keeping them in mind for the future.

We live hours away from their headquarters, but they had no problem traveling to us. If I had not known someone who had already used them, I might have been worried that it was too good to be true, but they delivered in every aspect. They were meticulous in their work, and their attention to detail was exceptional.
