Today at this bakery location it was such a breath of fresh air. Everyone was very courteous and nice. The staff was very quick with the breakfast. I got a bacon egg and cheese with a coffee and I devoured my food. Lol. So I wish I would've taken photos but I didn't. So the food was hot and very tasteful. The staff is always welcoming. The are is usually loud at time but that's due the the bakery being under the train station. Not there fault but inside it's not as loud. read more

I've bought cakes at the Jerome location on several occasions they have tasty cakes only last Tuesday March 28, I bought 2 one serving sizes cake one of them was stale and dry. I was disappointed. Saturday I was in the area I walked in and advised the clerk that the cake was old. She took a defensive attitude rather than apologize for my unpleasant experience. They get my money I get nothing for it. I only hope this clerk doesn't find herself on the other side of the counter to experience what did. Unfortunately some of these businesses fail to understand bad food can make one sick. read more

Let me tell you, National Bakery was actually phenomenal. The ambience of this place is outstanding and so welcoming! Everything we purchased was terrific and the menu itself was to die for. I love a good bakery. I was fortunate enough to work in the area twice in a week, the second time I made it my mission to bring home a box of cookies. It's a small bakery with counter seating towards the back, they have a small breakfast and lunch menu. The coffee is very good, typical Spanish style cafe con leche, expresso or americano. The ladies at the counter are very nice. All kinds of different baked goods and made to order cakes. The Italian Style cookies are amazing - the basic butter cookie dough they use is simple and rich. The only one I was not fond of was the Cherry Dip cookie (7 for $1) and the reason being is that the cherry center was more like eating a tough gummy bear. The cookie itself was delish, stick with the Raspberry Dip ones priced the same. All of the cookies are reasonably priced. I also had a piece of Dominican Style Fruit cake, very moist and not too sweet. If you are in the area make it a point to visit this bakery! read more

It's a shame that the employees think and feel that ubereats and outsider orders are more important than the community actually walking in to order..today I was told by an employee that we the customers waiting more than 20mins to order weren't of her concern because all 3 employees were working on uber eats order..and continue to take yet another order by phone..when I mentioned that it was under fair she stated the above we weren't her concern and than turn to her coworker and laughed like I wouldn't understand what she had just told her in Spanish..I have been going to this bakery since high school..it's a shame the ppl the have working there..they must not be part of the community to careless about the community..I watched 4 ppl walk out because of her statement and the long wait for no reason..so a 30min wait turns into an 1 and half wait with the cooking wait as well.. if your phone orders or phone customers are more important and of more of your concern than you should closed the doors to the community and only take phone orders.. I have never felt this miss treated at a place that I've been visiting wkly since my teenage years.. a good bakery on jerome ave in the norwood section of the bronx. as the area has a growing hispanic population that have a diverse selection of italian and spanish sweets including typical american cookies , cakes , pies , etc . breakfast sandwiches are available along with coffee and other hot and cold drinks . the breads are my favorite as well as the rainbow cookies which are still popular as always .it's best to visit during the morning when all is display nicely ready for us to enjoy . prices are reasonable and folks working behind the counter are friendly and quick especially when it's crowded with customers . i recommend the cookies as i never had an issue on my many past visits . read more

Hole in the Wall. I have been coming to National Bakery for the past seven years. I know everyone is quick to say they are particular when it comes to eating out but trust me this place is a diamond in the ruff. The prices are decent especially for the breakfast specials - and they are very generous! I generally started coming to this bakery because it is the only spot in the area that serves freshly squeezed orange juice AND they make it on the spot so please be patient and don't mess it up for me... there is absolutely nothing worse than drinking "freshly" squeezed orange juice that has been sitting for some time. They also make great meat patties; they are to die for and go out awfully quick. Once they run out they are not replenished for the remainder of the day - total bummer. I have purchased a great amount in advance for family gathering the past three years. I also enjoy the Rugelach... I am certain I have consumed better but they make a great treat if you get them once out the oven. In summary, the staff is polite and the customer service is good for being fast paced. If you want to beat the lines, arrive early but then again you have to be working around the area otherwise you can visit any other bakery. I generally get here at 7pm - no lines and everything is fresh. Oh, I also get my coffee here because they steam the cream for me!!! There is nothing greater than steamed cream in my coffee - reminds me of back home. I must not lie... entry to this hole requires an abundance of patience considering they accept EBT cards. Please don't take this out of context as it does not apply to everyone but unfortunately at this bakery the line can become overwhelming but nothing becomes more irritating than being groped by men and woman under the influence. Never go there again. I ordered 2 bacon egg sandwiches with a coffee. There is a sign that says bacon egg cheese w/coffee $3.00. When it came to pay for the order they wanted to charge me $8.25 for the order.i ask why so much when the sign says $3.00. At first they didn't want to answer me. After a minute or so, Their reply was you have to ask for that, it's a special. I did!!! There was no sign that said special. Then a lady said oh, we put to eggs in it in a very rude manor.
