Ok, I'm admittedly writing this from an aviation enthusiast's perspective. I have no idea whether…read morethis small airport within the massive Boeing corporate field operations actually functions well as a passenger service airport. I happened to be in the area looking for a nice spot to eat my lunch and found that I could park in the lot and watch the airport operations fairly close up. It was free entertainment to go with my bento box from the Maruta Shoten grocery store just up the road and made for a great afternoon. I took a peek inside the "Terminal" which is just a small single historic appearing structure. There was a single operating airline to check in at that I have never heard of. "Kenmore Airways" is in the house and I had to look them up to see that they serve some very small, locally regional destinations such as Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands. On quick glance, the inside seemed to have everything you would expect at an airport. Check in desks, baggage carts, a security screening area, and a small cafe. It was quaint, seemed quiet and efficient, and made me jealous since I am used to big box airport experiences with lines and long waits. There is none of that here. What I really liked here though was that I could walk up to the perimeter chain link fence and be 30 feet away from the small commuter aircraft operations that were going on. It was fascinating and I am really surprised that the fence line is so close to the planes. It seems like it shouldn't be that way in this day and age of crazy people but it was nice to see a last bastion of plane spotter decency afforded to the general public here. I loved that they have to post warning signs on the gate for people like me to beware of the jet or prop wash from being too close upon planes powering up. I am glad to see that there are still places like this for me to get my aviation fantasy jollies at up close and personal. If you like to watch planes, put this place on your bucket list.

When Franks flying PRIVATE I'm at this airport!…read more Now I've flown commercially to Vancouver Island for a fishing trip which was an amazing experince. Was able to park my vehcicle and leave it in the parking lot. The experince of going through the boarding process in less than 15 minutes was amazing. Why can't all airports make it this easy. Back many moons ago NEXUS OFFICES were located in the building, I know cause this was where I got my NEXUS pass. Use to be a great dinner inside the airport to grab a fast burger with minimum hassle but sadly is longer flipping burgers. I'm sure if you've made it to the airport well you've noticed its small but effciant for personal, small commercial aircraft & private aircraft. The captain has turned on the fasten seatbelts sign. If you haven't already done so, we ask that you stow your carry-on luggage underneath the seat in front of you or in an overhead bin. Enjoy your airport & flight experiance from King County International Airport !
