Unlike in restaurants where even one and the same dish with three cooks can taste different three times, a hotel for the basic things is relatively standardized. And the ambiance is of course - as with the food the personal taste - always in the eye or palate of the beholder. But for this reason, I now give a more standardized review of hotels, of course, special features are also highlighted. In the toilet area, it may be a bit too "visual" for some people, so I rate this area last and it is marked ***, just skip it if you are one of those people who does not want to talk about it. Short Review for quick reading: For a price under $50 you can stay here for a night the new owner seems to Renovate one room after the other. Don't expect anything fancy but a cean room and a good shower. The wet bar is small but served the purpose. Long version: Well it seems that this motel just recently got renamed. It has no reviews and wasn't even on the yelp map. We have been stopped here on our way from the Bay Area to Las Vegas. Always stoping halftime in Bakersfield this time traffic was higher then usual and we looked earlier for a accommodation. On hotels.com it has two reviews giving it ten points. Well and it was at $45 so what can go wrong? As always you get what you payed for. It is not THAT bad. You have a small room with a bed or two a microwave and a fridge. Of course a tv and a ac. The ac and the fridge are brand new what supports my Theorie that there was an owner and name change. But the room felt just on every edge a bit out dated. It was cleaned but not really clean. Dust and a used bathtub can tell the history of the place. The ac was way to loud and the bed awe-full soft. That said it was for $45 a fair pricing. But I hope the renovation will go on. Personnel / Employees: Check in at late night was effective. Not friendly just it :) Amenities (beyond the usual, expected): - Nothing, breakfast that we missed - Shower system (shower head can be separated, water pressure, constant shower temperature): Shower over the tub. Yes, yes and yes. - *** toilet brush (at most 4+ star hotel seems to rule the opinion that the guest should not be bothered to clean the toilets after the use and the toilet brush is left out without further ado. I find that very questionable to the housekeeping) *** No brush here. Honestly it would not even fit in in the tiny toilet/ bathroom.

For a motel it doesn't look like much has so much hospitality clean and safe what more could a lady ask for. As a travel agent a motel is usually not a good idea for myself that trying to cut costs traveling back-and-forth taking care of estate for granny and I will always be stopping at the Nashville nine. Ted is the most hospitable man as well as his family and it made my stay most enjoyable.

You can see the hole and how do nasty the shower looks with dirt like they never clean it .

Studio 6 has more room amenities and both are owned by the same corporation behind Motel 6. Vagabond Inn is a budget friendly motel to say the very least. Rooms are smaller, amenities are on the frugal side, decor and room details are worthy of the two stars they get on average. The cleanliness is the only issue I am most concerned for. Floors do not feel clean enough for your bare feet, bathrooms seemed they were quickly given a once over before the room was turned over. Bathroom fixtures needed repairs, and most everything in the room just was well used. The remnant of cigarette smoke in a non-smoking room was also quite a annoyance. The staff is most understanding here and very kind. They were fast to accommodate a room change once I was not happy with my first room given to me. For a budget minding stay, Vagabond Inn is a good value if you really just need a place to rest and get cleaned up. The beds are comfortable and clean.

Black mold on the floor of the bathroom, no plug for the bathtub, and the finish on the bathtub was rusted stained peeled back. On the way back I stayed at it again, giving them a second chance. It is the least expensive place I could find. I told the clerk that second time the troubles I'd had and he said well you won't have any problems with this room. I went into the room, unpacked it smelled like cigarette smoke, and the bathroom wasn't too scary as the first night. However, after I had put everything in the room that I noticed there was water all over the floor and some sort of bio hazard the color of feces as well. I asked for a second room. They minimized the creepy effects, and I asked for a second room. I moved all of my stuff from one room into the new room. It appeared pretty decent. But the bedspread stunk. I spoke to the head manager the next morning, and she said she would get back to me in two days with a discount. She has yet to contact me. It's been a week. Frankly, the only thing missing from these rooms are used condoms and drug injectors. Absolutely not a family friendly inn. No stars

While the room was technically clean, the bed cover was stained, the drawers on the dresser were misaligned and possibly damaged, and the lighting was a super harsh white. The shower pressure was good and the full sized refrigerator was a surprise. The A/C worked well also. We never got around to the pool, but that's another reason we chose this hotel over some others. In general, it seems very safe, just worn down.

The floors are CAKED in some black dirt deep within the floor boards. When you mopped the water turned black instantly. We had to use their towels and those turned black instantly. Someone punched a hole in the bathroom door. The door was falling off the hinges. This place does have black mold sometimes in the bathrooms sometimes in the A/C and sometimes in the vents. Yet this establishment instead of having any shred of integrity at all decided we were why that was. When in fact we fixed a lot of that just to sit down for a few weeks. Thanks motel 6 enjoy the 3000 ish dollars over 2 21 day periods. Also when we left the first time and came back they complained about the towels and sheets. I think they are racist. I think this is a descriminitory issue because the rooms were not clean. We cleaned them. We did their jobs. All they do is TAKE YOUR MONEY . FLIES EVERYWHERE THOUSANDS OF THEM. Looks like a plague fr. We just are able to endure a lot but people take our kindness for weakness but I dont know how many health violations I found off the top of my head. Good day and God Bless.

The place smells like garbage, and after walking around a bit, it looks like they don't have a trash service (no public trash cans around the hotel or commercial trash cans visible) and the fenced off area out back appears to be their makeshift landfill - tons of garbage clearly just chucked over the fence. The curtains don't keep out the light, the bed is thin and uncomfortable, doesn't even have a fitted sheet, the shower stained blue(???) but I didn't use it after being told to turn on the water in a very specific way so as not to break the cheap plumbing. One star for being a cheap place to crash with our dogs, the ac that mostly works, and the staff who were at least semi-upfront and helped lower expectations. All the other big chain hotels were full - no vacancy anywhere on the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving. We found a vacancy here - but couldn't get into our room due to a card key/door malfunction. A new key and different room didn't work any better and the "maintenance manager" had to let us in with a master key. Clearly they are going for the "weekly" and "monthly" markets because they are doing some renovations where they are knocking down a wall between two rooms, putting a sofa and oversized crappy tv armoire in the other room. In fact, there were still open holes in the walls and crumbled sheetrock on the carpets. There are still two bathrooms (shower stall only) - and a distinct lack of sufficient overhead or task light. The controls for the thermostat didn't work well (one in each room) and the linens had clearly seen better days. We felt very fortunate that we did not end up with lice or bedbugs. The beds were so uncomfortable that we probably would have been better served sleeping in the car. We were so disoriented in the morning that we continued South on Hwy 5 instead of taking 58 east into Bakersfield as we intended, such was our haste to make tracks away from this awful hotel.
