The staff here are wonderful. Pete, Samantha and Dominic, have filled my heart with kindness. The property is safe and clean. Its a little refuge in the wide open road. If you are traveling from LA to San Fran or just needing a place to call home for a night or two, be sure to give this lovely place a chance to make you feel at home. The Internet is free so too the in room Coffee and breakfast in the dinning room. The National 9 is also directly located across from a TA travel center, where all the middle of the night needs can be met, including laundry. It had hot water and maybe a mattress with lumps and springs and hopefully not bedbugs. Sticky furniture. AC worked well the 6 feet in front of it which happened to be the bed and your face which could stay nice and cool. Fairly quiet room for being right off the freeway. They had new floors and a new mini fridge and microwave so maybe they will be remodeling. I spent 6 hours here 4 of them sleeping sort of. Note to owner: Start with the bed that's all anyone is looking for at this point. Walmart sells a cheap memory foam mattress that would boost your review by 2 stars. Spend a little bit more on the free breakfast and skip all the junk food no one wants an Oreo cookie for breakfast. Try a cheap granola in your cereal dispenser as an option for that discerning crowd. read more

Motel is roach infested. They were all over the walls. We ran out of there. They charge about $30 more than the motel 6 and is old dirty and roach infested. Motel 6 was cheaper and much nicer read more

And the ambiance is of course - as with the food the personal taste - always in the eye or palate of the beholder. But for this reason, I now give a more standardized review of hotels, of course, special features are also highlighted. In the toilet area, it may be a bit too "visual" for some people, so I rate this area last and it is marked ***, just skip it if you are one of those people who does not want to talk about it. Short Review for quick reading: For a price under $50 you can stay here for a night the new owner seems to Renovate one room after the other. Don't expect anything fancy but a cean room and a good shower. The wet bar is small but served the purpose. Long version: Well it seems that this motel just recently got renamed. It has no reviews and wasn't even on the yelp map. We have been stopped here on our way from the Bay Area to Las Vegas. Always stoping halftime in Bakersfield this time traffic was higher then usual and we looked earlier for a accommodation. On hotels.com it has two reviews giving it ten points. Well and it was at $45 so what can go wrong? As always you get what you payed for. It is not THAT bad. You have a small room with a bed or two a microwave and a fridge. Of course a tv and a ac. The ac and the fridge are brand new what supports my Theorie that there was an owner and name change. But the room felt just on every edge a bit out dated. It was cleaned but not really clean. Dust and a used bathtub can tell the history of the place. The ac was way to loud and the bed awe-full soft. That said it was for $45 a fair pricing. But I hope the renovation will go on. Personnel / Employees: Check in at late night was effective. Not friendly just it :) Amenities (beyond the usual, expected): - Nothing, breakfast that we missed - Shower system (shower head can be separated, water pressure, constant shower temperature): Shower over the tub. Yes, yes and yes. - *** toilet brush (at most 4+ star hotel seems to rule the opinion that the guest should not be bothered to clean the toilets after the use and the toilet brush is left out without further ado. I find that very questionable to the housekeeping) *** No brush here. Honestly it would not even fit in in the tiny toilet/ bathroom. read more

I needed a place to stay after a long day on the road so I checked into the National 9 Inn at Bakersfield. The location is great right off of I5 and there are Tesla charging stations close by as well if you're an EV driver. The room felt a little outdated and there were some paint stains on the floor but that wasn't a huge issue for me as you need to factor in affordability as well. After some time though, I noticed a very strong odor permeating the room. An odor I was neither accustomed to nor very fond of, to put it mildly. Apparently this odor came from the fields and it was simply not possible for me stay under these conditions. I wasn't expecting to get a refund but I requested one anyway since I had only been there for a short while. Luckily the two ladies on staff were very kind and the manager, Alisa, went above and beyond to fulfill my request for a refund. The photos on the website must be from when it first opened. The rooms smell like mold. There's mold in the bathroom, the carpets are ripped, the sheets were not clean. Do not stop here!! It needs a total remodel. I'd sleep in my car before going there again read more

The price was low and we did not expect much. The room was clean and comfortable enough, although clearly everything was much used and worn. We were unhappy on checking in to find no kleenex, only one drinking cup, no usable electric outlets and a nonworking phone. However, after we spoke to SAMANTHA, the desk clerk, all of our concerns (except the phone) were addressed quickly and cheerfully. She really went above and beyond what we expected (please take note, Mr. Peter Walia). However, someone needs to check the electric outlets and also the phone service in the rooms. Breakfast in a nice sunny room was pretty basic, but ok for the cost (free). The heat worked fine. No insects. read more

For a motel it doesn't look like much has so much hospitality clean and safe what more could a lady ask for. As a travel agent a motel is usually not a good idea for myself that trying to cut costs traveling back-and-forth taking care of estate for granny and I will always be stopping at the Nashville nine. Rooms are old and scuzzy and reek of disinfectant. Beds are hard and linens LITERALLY threadbare (see picture). The kind of place where you keep your shoes on. To add insult to injury, I paid $75 for the room through Booking.com only to find a neon sign out front proclaiming ROOMS $39. read more

BED BUGS!!! THEY GAVE ME ROOM 248. No remote no stopper for the tub. They uuoffered to get me another /room but before they arrived I found bed bugs every where! I left and didnt ask for a refund. This is an extremely peaceful and scenic motel just off I-5 that is not only affordable but under new management. Our single king bed room was spacious with hardwood floors. It felt very clean and up to date and was perfect for our needs. It was even equipped with a fridge and microwave. The mini fridge was bigger and functioned better than fridges at Marriott hotels and their extended lines (which is where I usually stay 90% of the time out of town). I was fortunate enough to check in when one of/the only new owner who bought out this motel was working. Such a kind and genuine person who only means well for his business and his customers. We had a small hiccup with our reservation because we chose to book through a third party travel agency and needed to extend our stay a night. Pete personally called me to follow up and resolve our issue, even though he was not there after our initial check in! Five stars for him and his amazing staff who goes beyond their expectations in such a small motel and town. We will always recommend this hotel to our friends and family. read more

I mean it's a hole in the wall, middle of nowhere Inn... As soon as I open the door to my room, I'm overwhelmed by this strong cigarette, tweeker smell. There are flies all over the room. I spent an hour walking around the room killing flies. There are some pretty shady people walking around the outside of the rooms pretty late at night. So, like I said, it's not the best place I've ever stayed. read more

2 stars is being somewhat generous, but yeah, the price is cheap, especially using Hotwire. I found the room to be clean(!), but this motel is really in need of some TLC for sure. Entering the room, it seems like thousands of people have stayed there before you. The bathroom fixtures appear so old and used that habit seems like the only thing keeping them attached to the wall. The TV is ok and it does receive your basic cable stations. Oh, the air conditioner worked. And hey, it can be yours for less than 50 bucks a night. Some fresh paint, one or two nice pictures on the wall, and some attention to bathroom fixtures would make such a positive improvement though. read more

I am a professional working woman on my way to the Bay area. I stopped off as I was leaving Los Angeles to the Bay area and stopped here as it was near Bakersfield. I was originally supposed to stay here for one day and ended up staying almost a month. I have found that many of the negative reviews come from privileged, entitled, and frugal people. People who want the Taj Mahal on a Walmart budget. I was shocked when I woke up one morning and went into the lobby to request an extension on my stay that they were serving a continental breakfast at that very time. I sat and ate my morning breakfast while I watched the morning news on the flatscreen TV in the dining area. I was shocked. I will be honest here; it was a legitimate continental breakfast. It had baked goods, jam, fruit, and coffee. Nothing over the top but enough to keep you going until Lunch or Dinner time. Ted who helped work the front desk was very accommodating and professional. Employees here were flexible, professional, HARD WORKING, and not entitled. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel! read more

First of all let me start of with saying that the front desk staff is awesome very helpful and geniuniley try to help solve whatever problem you maybe having. Having said that, the particular room that I was giving did NOT have new AC and did not work well. It was definitely outdated. But that's ok for $50 a night I didn't expect the Waldorf Astoria. However, 115 degree weather I do expect cold AC, someone fixing it a room change or a refund. Several options here. After 6 hours of waiting I am going to say I must change hotels. SO if you have the good fortune of getting one of the rooms with AC for sure decent place to stay friendly staff. It is a bit on the shady side but I felt safe enough just keep your eyes open and be aware it is a truck stop hotel. One more compliment my husband said shower is awesome! read more

Clean and quiet room, and breakfast is included! Great staff. After one of the nights we went out and our car broke down and we didn't make it to check out. I was so grateful when I made it back at 5PM, 6 hours after check out, they made the rooms and left our stuff to the side for us. Very honest and kind of them to have done that for us. read more

Great customer service!! I recently stayed here the rooms are very clean & fair for its price. I noticed my room had a new ac/heat unit installed. The room had all the essential supplies but if you call the front desk they are more than willing to help. Marc was very personable he directed me to the Tesla superchargers which are next door. Great location as it was also next to a Starbucks! I noticed a taco truck on the property which was a nice touch -- I got lunch there it was yummers! This hotel is also next to an Indian restaurant where you can dine for a 10% discount if you mention staying at the national 9 inn. All in all I highly recommend this place, especially during COVID, if you need a clean & cheap place to stay! read more

Can I give this 0 stars. I'm really not that picky, but our room was beyond disgusting. It wasn't vacuumed, cockroaches in the bathroom, mold in the shower, there was food in the bathroom sink, no holder for the toilet paper, the pillow case had a stain on it and the other pillow didn't have a case at all. I slept with the light on because I was too freaked out what would come out of the walls if I turned it off. Damn near slept in my car, would've if I could've gotten a refund. Would never recommend this place to anyone I like. read more

We stayed at National Inn for one night as a roadside stop during a road trip and for being a basic road side motel, this place is top notch! Our room was tastefully designed, very clean, and we were pleased to learn of the extensive cable channels provided. This place is under new management and it really shows with the remodeling and super friendly family employees that appear genuinely happy. There is a lovely green courtyard in the middle of the motel, which is great for toddlers to play or to take the pooch out to do his "business." There was a great breakfast in the morning with a variety of treats and goodies - they even had Keurig cups! I've stayed at a lot of basic roadside motels but for the price, this one easily tops the list. Make sure that you also check Taste of India next door, really good authentic Indian food for vegetarians and carnivores. read more

Arrived at 12:30am on Thursday night. Room not prepared well. Dead cockroach on floor of bathroom to left of toilet. No remote for the LG TV. One of the cups for coffee was ' used'. I went back to the front office to get another remote yet the woman who checked me in did not respond to the ' buzzer'. In the evening sleep I was awoken twice by person sleeping on other side of wall in adjacent unit as these brainless owners put room beds ' back to back" so that one person in an adjacent room has his headboard against the headboard of the next door unit. SIMPLY STUPID and POORLY RUN MOTEL. These people need to hire a professional.motel management company to fix their idiosies. The users suffer. Never again read more

Disliked · I'm confused by the other positive reviews on this property. Or maybe we just got the one room not yet remodeled. Our bed did not have a blanket , so had to use ours from car, the floor wasn't that clean and had a huge gouge hole missing in front of bathroom, and the bath tub looked stained with something black or was just dirty ! So no shower for us.. the condition of the room was of a state that made you want to check for bed bugs or that you may catch something. The weird part was since King bed it cost more.. I guess we should of paid less and maybe would of gotten one of the cleaner newer remodeled rooms all the reviews were talking about. I stayed here once before and other than the normal quality of a cheap motel the only bad thing that happened was that the heater set off the fire alarm. This time I was checking out at 12:15 when I was supposed to check out at 12. Last time I checked out at almost 12:30. This woman came to my door and said that it was 12:30 (it was 12:15) and that I was late and she just kept staring at me in disgust. She said her name was Alexa when asked but I'm not sure if that's true. (She was Hispanic wore a lot of makeup and red lipstick and works the front desk in the morning.) She said she was going to charge me several hundred dollars for smoking in the room when the alarm never went off and I didn't smoke anything in the room. She was extremely rude to me when I tried to explain to her that I had brought my products in to keep them safe but hadn't use them in the room. It was the most disrespectful conversation I've ever had, especially from an employee at a place I'm staying. The nice young man who worked the night shift was very helpful both stays but this woman was horrible. If employers are reading this please take action because she is not using the right demeanor to talk to customers, or the right tone, and her face and body language was totally unacceptable. I will not be coming back here just because of this one despicable woman. read more
