As a bigger person who has been walking on the treadmill and working out Orange Theory up to 5 times a week, my feet have been killing me, so I got a foot reflexology massage. Unfortunately, the temperature was so weak and the steam so scant, that the benefits of a traditional turkish steam bath were essentially non-existent. Very disappointing And because of this, everyone was using the more intense dry sauna, which made for a rather crowded situation. I found the cold plunge pool difficult to egress because there are no steps, only a vertical ladder. My muscles unexpectedly froze-up and I could barely pull myself out. I almost got stuck. Not the best design. I'll stick to the cold waterfall shower in the corner which offers a nice option for anyone who desires a less intense contrast therapy. The best part of my visit today was the welcoming and professional staff, soothing ambiance, thoughtful touches in the locker room (complimentary Q-tips, cotton facial pads, body wash shampoo/conditioner) and courteous patrons - Banya 5 is indeed a very supportive and inclusive environment! They explained everything I needed to know, answered my questions, and gave me a locker key and fresh white towels. A nice young lady at the checkin desk suggested I try sweetening my Market Spice "Breathe Deep" tea in the upstairs tea room with a lovely boysenberry jam. What a great idea and delicious way to finish my session. While there are a few things that could improve, overall this was a clean, welcoming, and unique spa experience in the heart of the city that I hope to return to.
