There's just no place like Natalie M! We live in St Louis County about 3.5 hours away but the trip is worth it. The service and selection are the best! My daughter Romy is a pageant girl and a a senior in high school. Whether we are shopping for a dance or a pageant, Lisa and her crew know exactly the right dress for the event. I've never left Natalie M. without finding a dress I didn't love. I live 2 hours away, and there is a dress store in my town, but I will say that they are absolutely worth the drive. Lisa and Myra have gone above and beyond in helping me find the perfect dress for a pageant. I've been a very last minute person, and they have always been so flexible with my scheduling, and helped me find a seamstress that can get a wardrobe done whenever you need. Lisa has done so much such as thinking about how the dress could be used or altered for future events compared to just wearing it for one single event, custom designing a costume or outfit, designing or finding the right jewelry, and giving advice! I have had a struggle with being in love with my body, but these lovely people make me feel absolutely confident and gorgeous! They've even opened my eyes to certain styles that I didn't know I would end up loving, which made my shopping experience so much easier! A friend of mine and my sister got there dress here 3-7 years back so thought I would try it to. they moved into a super small location. the lady that worked there showed me back to where the wedding dresses are, basically a closet.. then told me that she was helping with prom dress girls so she would be back and forth... never helped me, my sister helped me with the dresses... all dresses are only in one size so hard to get a real feel for them... then the attendant brought me a vail when I asked, and it had a huge hole in it... TERRIBLE experience no soon to be bride should ever experience. Will always recommend NOT to use this place!! read more

I've been to two other wedding boutiques that were attentive, made me feel confident like a princess, but at Natalie M's I felt like garbage! If you need a dress for your little girl's beauty pageant or prom dress I'm sure Natalie M is incredible. For bridal? It was a hard miss for me. The selection was very limited but the biggest turn off for me was the way I was treated. In spite of me being the bride and the one paying for the dress all she wanted to do was address my mother who was with me and always addressed me as a third person like I wasn't there. She was not in tune to my feelings for a dress at all, not once did she ask ME how I liked a dress, she'd only talk about the dress to my mom. I voiced my opinion on dresses and I also came with pictures of dresses for inspiration, she maybe had two that were similar and had a random dress she recommended that she thought I'd love--which looked NOTHING like what I said I liked. I know she does custom work, but if someone is missing the mark this badly I would NOT trust them to do custom work for me. Also, not a good place if you are self conscious about your weight. I'm not by any means a large person but even I got my self esteem hurt a bit when the only dress sizes she'd let me try on were way too small to even zip up all the way. This was way different from the other boutiques I've visited where their stock dresses are big--to better fit all shapes and sizes--and they just clip the back of the dress to temporarily fit you. Also very surprised there was no offer to help me in and out of the dresses other than to zip up the back. I would think for a liability stand point you'd not want your client risk tripping and falling or accidentally ruining the dress. There's plenty of other custom bridal boutiques in Johnson County that offer way better service and don't treat you like an object. read more

I found my wedding dress here for years ago and every time I look back at pictures, I am reminded of this wonderful place and the staff that helped me find the perfect dress. They were extremely helpful in finding different styles that would look great on me and catering to the requests that I wanted. They helped match my veil and even help my mom find her dress for the wedding. I was so impressed by the staff here! When I decided on my dress I also popped a bottle of champagne for me and my guest to have! We had eight people which is a large crowd for dress shopping and they were extremely accommodating and making sure everybody had a place to sit while I tried on dresses! It was not the first dress shop that I visited but I wish it would've been the only place I went to. They were the most friendly staff that Experienced during dress shopping. They have a great selection of dresses, not only wedding dresses but also bridesmaids dresses, mother of the bride dresses, and other formal dresses if you ever have any needs. Their prices are also very comparable and did not seem out rages. They made sure that the dresses they were showing me were in my price range, they never once made me feel bad about my budget or tried to show me dresses out of my budget. I'm gonna have to go back on this one. Did these women become possessed by demons since I was last there? I cannot stress enough how horrible this place is. If you are a bride, please do not put yourself through the stress of dealing with this store. I did not get my dress here, but I took my four bridesmaids in to get theirs. The girls were not measured, they just had them try on random dresses until one fit and then ordered that size in the dress we wanted. That just does not work since dresses are often cut and sized differently. 1 - One of my bridesmaids was very newly pregnant and will be 6 mos. pregnant at the time of my wedding. They said one size bigger would be sufficient and they would alter it to fit. When the dress came in it was way too tight, even after every last inch had been taken it. We ended up having to pay well over $100 in alterations and buying additional fabric for her dress. Natalie M. said we could order another but would have to pay an additional $180 to have it rushed so we'd get it in time. 2 - One of the other girls tried on her dress and it was two sizes too small. Again, she had to pay a lot of money to buy fabric and put into the dress. When I called the store to talk to the manager about this, she got angry, shouted at me and accused me of lying. She claimed that her store had never had a complaint and she would not let me speak; she continually interrupted me to tell me I was wrong. When I called back the next day, the employee I spoke to wasn't as rude, but she put me on hold while I in the middle of a sentence several times, more or less said my bridesmaids were too fat and still would not really listen to my complaint. I am just outraged at the lack of professionalism and the rudeness of these people. We trusted their employees on ordering the correct sizes and even though they were wrong, we're the ones paying for it. Please seek another shop for getting your gowns! read more

I'm new to this Yelp deal, so this review comes 5 years late... but I wanted to give my review for Natalie M because it's one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. I got married back in 2005, so I don't have a current experience, but it's an experience nonetheless. At the end of 2004 my friend and I attended a bridal show in OP. We passed dress vendor after dress vendor and everyone of them just stood there like soul-less drones. Not one welcomed us over to their table or even looked at us. Then we came up to Natalie M's table. (She was just beginning the transition from Fashions at Large back then.) Natalie herself greeted us right as we were walking by and was incredibly friendly and personable. We got to talking and it wasn't long before I was on her books for a fitting appointment. I already loved her. My best friend came with me for the appointment as well and when we got there we were greeted and taken back promptly and offered refreshments. The staff was so helpful and attentive, and Natalie was there also assisting. One consultant was working with me, while another was working with my friend, who is plus size. Every time I had a dress on she had a dress on as well and we went thru the motions of deciding how the dresses looked together and how the bridesmaid dress would look on the other 5, yes 5, attendants, all of whom ranged from size 2-14. I finally found "the one" and my girlfriend came out with "the one" for the girls as well. She found the perfect dress for her, and it was perfect for anyone in my party, no matter their size. Both dresses were Alfred Angelo. Natalie and her staff got us set up and we got all 7 dresses ordered, two of which were going to be out of town shipments. They made it a breeze, and we were done! All the orders came back in a timely fashion and my girls took care of their own alterations. My gown fit perfectly and only needed a bustle which set me back all of $15. Natalie referred me to her seamstress for that. I also purchased a very simple, one layer veil. To this day my experience with Natalie M and her staff is one that sticks out so positively. I'm a former model and I've done work for several bridal boutiques in the KC area. But have never, and will never recommended anyone other than Natalie M for wedding dress shopping. I have a friend who is getting married in January. We went to another store first that allegedly catered to the larger ladies. However, when we got there they didn't have much in her size/price range for her to try on. I ended up having to put on some dresses so she would have an idea of what they would look like. So, after leaving the store - the bride to be and another friend and I were in the parking lot talking and decided we would give Natalie M a try. We called and were told that they were busy but she could try on some bridesmaid dresses (which is actually what she thought she wanted as this is her second marriage). We arrived and they were able to let her try on wedding and bridesmaid dresses. They brought in lots of options for her to try and eventually she narrowed it down to one dress. In the end she went with another bridal salon for her dress but I was very impressed with how willing the staff was to go the extra mile and squeeze us in without an appointment on a very busy Saturday. read more

I do not recommend this place if you are looking for your wedding dress. 1. They were late taking us back for my appointment and then gossiped about me and my family saying " how did we expect to be helped if we were hiding" when we were literally looking around the store finding dresses I liked, patiently waiting to be taken back. It is not a big store either. 2.The owner, Myra, promised to call me several times regarding my dress and never did. I had to call multiple times to figure out anything. Whether I was getting a new dress, or the one I tried on, when the new dress would arrive, she kept saying "next month" and it kept not coming and she kept not calling. Me and my best friend literally had to go to the store and talk to her to figure out what was going on. 3. She offered me a "virtually brand new sample of my dress so that I could just be done worrying." Wow, so sorry I'm slightly concerned about my wedding dress being here since my wedding is TWO WEEKS AWAY. I said I would be more than willing to buy the sample gown, but not at full price. She thought that was ridiculous and would not discount it. She very obviously just wanted to get rid of me, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the dress I had originally tried on. 4. I had to call the manufacturer because I no longer trusted this business to get me my dress. Finally that got Myra's attention and she called acting so confused as to why I would complain about her to her vendor when she had told me everything she knew. I told her everything I had experienced and all my frustrations, and she did nothing. Said she was sorry but I didn't believe her. 5. I finally got my dress, she had originally told me alterations would be free, and then turned around and said they would be upwards of $500. I said no thank you and found someone to do it for half the price. The most unprofessional service I've ever received, and for one of the most important things I will ever buy. Very disappointed that this place can claim to cater to brides. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Maybe they should just stick to prom dresses. read more

I ordered my MacDuggal dress on May 15, 2021in a size XS. After many promises from Lisa, an employee of Natalie M, of its coming, it finally arrived on August 6. To my surprise, I was sent the gown in a size SMALL instead of an XS as ordered. I reached out to Lisa at least 10 times by phone and 7 times through text messages. As of this day nobody has gotten back to me to exchange this dress for the proper size. Now, my daughters wedding is approaching and I will have to take it to a specialty tailor to have it altered and spend a considerable amount of money for it to fit me properly. I was more then patient and very willing to work with the staff but to no avail. So disappointed in the business practices of this company. read more

We had tickets to the Ethic Ball. In March I tried on the dress I planned to wear. I hung it up at the end of the hall on the door way to the home office. Four days before the event, I looked my dress over ... omg there were stains. I took it to the dry cleaner, they said no problem it would be done the next day. Then the phone call, it was not going to be ready on time. I reached out and I went in to see of anything might work. With much help we found a dress which was remade overnight at the seamstress's store. I loved the dress. I loved like a million dollars. I am so grateful for all of the help I got. Recently I had a friend get engaged and we were going over places to potentially dress shop. I remembered my terrible experience at Natalie M. I thought I had written a review but can't find it, so thought I'd write about it again to help people avoid the same experience. I brought my dad to this store, along with my mom and best friend. My dad has always been a part of my dress shopping experiences my entire life. When I made the appointment weeks ahead of time, I specifically told them my dad was coming. They were very nice and said that would be wonderful. When we got there, they made us wait around and started our appointment 20 minutes late. They were busy with prom appointments as well and made that known to me. My budget was $4000, and I had no issue staying within that when picking out gowns. When I finally found a few I started trying them on, and my family sat on chairs outside of my changing area. Everytime I walked out my dad had moved from the chairs by me, to the front of the store. I was frustrated with him because I felt like he wasn't paying attention and I thought it was going to be a special moment. My best friend then informed me that the manager asked my dad to stand away from my fitting room and at the front of the store, since there were so many girls trying on dresses. I WAS LIVID. I immediately got dressed and we left. Not only did this store know ahead of time that my dad was coming, but before I even looked around they made me wait 20 minutes and could have told me then that my dad wouldn't be able to be by the dressing room with me. I would have gladly left without wasting over an hour of my day. My dad instead was embarrassed and treated like a creepy guy, instead of the amazing father of the bride he was! Ironically I had 14 different ladies who would have been buying dresses from there, so not only did they miss out on my purchase, but also 14 others. I truly hope treating my father like that was worth it. I hope no other bride ever has to experience that type of situation again, because it was horrible and could have been avoided! I went to try on dresses today. Overall I had a great experience. Meredith was awesome! She made me feel so comfortable and at ease and I never once felt pressured to make a decision. Although I didn't get a dress today, I still had a great experience. My only complaint is that the store didn't have a very large selection. Meredith explained to me why they didn't and it was well justified (due to some issues within the bride/wedding industry) and she said there are dresses coming soon, but I just wish I had more options. read more

When we walked in myself and my family immediately felt minimized and unimportant. We were told they were still working with another bride so we needed to wait and browse their stock in the front (which took all of five minutes). Consultant did not help me get into or out of the gown. She did not hand out nearby so my mother would help me into the podium and situate the train for me. The dressing rooms are small. There is no robe to wear inbetween trying on gowns. VERY LIMITED SELECTION. I specifically wanted a strapless fit and flare dress and they had NOTHING they could show me. I felt we conducted the entire appointment ourselves. When we left we said "thank you" and no one said thank you or have a good day, or come back soon in return. Very disappointed. I bought my older daughters wedding dress here had a very good experience 8 years ago. My younger daughter is getting married in July and I found a mother of the bride online and the the designer of that dress gave several locations in the KC area to order it and one was Natalie M. I called and I gave them the item number said they didn't have the dress but had the designer and similar styles but to come in during the week and I would get better service since it is prom season. Went in today so excited didn't know if I would need a 8 or 10. Stopped at the counter to put my keys away and two sales girls were sitting down. Said hello while never getting up. I walked over to them and explained my situation, gave them the item number and showed the a pic. She grabbed 2 dresses of which did not look anything like the style and put them in a dressing room. I tried both on without anyone coming over and I knew this wasn't the style when I went in. No one came and offered any help. When I came out the two same sales people were sitting in the same spot as when I came in. One of them did ask how they worked without bothering to get up and check. Said not to worry I won't be back. Would have loved to buy it from a local store but I will just order it online and ship it back if it doesn't fit. Online shipping is free, Natalie M said they would have to charge me shipping if I ordered the dress from them. Sad it didn't work out but I ordered the dress online. read more

First let me say we purchased our daughters wedding dress and Vail from natalie m and had a good experience. That said, our experience with our granddaughter was quite different. While natalie m started a scholarship program for girls which is commendable, the experience my granddaughter had with the fashion show was less than professional. She paid 100 to be in the fashion show and because of miscommunication, was not able to be in show due to her grade level. She was fine with the decision and they allowed her to be greeter for the show. She and another girl greeted guests standing for two hours. She was professional and tried to be helpful. Myra and other natalie m employees continually gave them glares and dirty looks throughout the show. Now, while I understand their frustration with her school, it was the adults, not the girls that caused the issue. I am very disappointed in the treatment the girls received, they did NOT have to help but wanted to be apart of the program. To my granddaughters credit, she acknowledged their childishness and remained focused and professional. I am very proud of her and I am posting this to vent my frustration. read more

I'm not sure where to start with Natalie M. To put it simply, they are extremely unprofessional and disorganized with very poor customer service. My first experience, I ended up buying my wedding dress from them. The best thing about this store is the selection. I tried on 4 or 5 dresses and liked them all. As I said I ended up purchasing my dress there. A week afterwards, I got a call from them asking if I had found my dress yet, and if I wanted to make an appointment to look. They had no idea that I was in just the previous week and purchased a dress. Once I ordered my dress, it came 11 days after the original promised date (they don't do anything on time). If you call to check on the status of an order they act as though you're overreacting or wasting their time. Despite the above, I loved a bridesmaids dress I found there and they had a perfect color. My girls all came to get measured for their dresses and much to all of our surprise, they just had them try on random dresses until one fit. There was no measuring or fitting. We got them ordered and paid that evening. My bridesmaids dresses came in about 2 weeks after the promised date. Once again not surprised. After picking them up, one of my bridesmaids noticed that the back of the dress had EIGHT long snagged and scrunched areas on it that are quite noticeable from a distance. They do not inspect the dresses that theyre selling because "they have so many dresses come in per day." So, we now have to make yet another 40 minute trip out there to sort out their mistake. When I called to tell them about the unacceptable dress, she acted again as if I were overreacting. The dresses took 4 months to come in, and we are now just a few weeks away from the wedding date and she needs a completely different dress because of the defect. Don't trust Natalie M with your special day - they cannot handle it. read more

My sister is the bride and while the woman helping her was fairly nice to her, she was horribly rude to me and the rest of my family that was there with her. The employee was 15 minutes late for our appointment and then tried to refuse pulling one last dress for my sister because she was running late for her next bride. I told her nicely that I didn't think it was very fair that she was ending our appointment on time when SHE was late and I asked if someone else could pull the last dress. She said "I'm doing it now ma'am." in a very rude voice and then actually THREW my little sister's notebook at me on the table. This experience ruined my sister's fun day of wedding dress shopping. I have a friend getting married out of town and she wanted us to all get our dresses from the store where she is buying her dress. I had the brand and style of dress and was asked to try it on and send the size/measurement to the store of her choice. As soon as the attendant found out I probably wasn't going to buy the dress from her store (I hadn't heard from the bride to see if she would be ok with this) she stopped helping me and just walked off. I wasn't 100% sure if I was buying a dress from them or not, but as soon as she walked off I was sure I was not purchasing a dress there and will not in the future either. read more

Today my mother and I were looking forward to helping my sister shop for prom dresses. To say the least, we were not happy with the customer service. There was a lady at the desk inside of the door on the phone, so we headed over to the dresses. We wandered around the store for several minutes before anyone asked if we were looking for anything. A young lady did finally ask if we needed help. My sister knew exactly what she wanted and the young lady apologized that they were all out of that particular designer. Not asking if she could help us find something else, she instead pointed in the direction of the dresses on the wall. This wouldn't be such a big deal if I had not watched EVERY other mother-daughter come in and were welcomed and were specifically helped by a staff/consultant. All of the other ladies in the store were assisted while we were directed on where to look. It is possible that the other ladies may have had an appointment and all consultants were assisting their appointments. At the least, some one (the ladies standing at register who could see us) could have suggested we make an appointment or pretend to care that we were even there. We decided to leave because we knew we wouldn't be helped nor find what we were looking for. As we left, no one acknowledged that we had been in the store or thanked us for coming in. Not that my little review will make any difference in your behavior, but I do want you to know that we noticed that you didn't care for us being in your store today. read more

Over this past weekend my mother and I went to Natalie M, and we had a wonderful experience here! Rosie was our sale consultant and she was terrific. There were a few dresses that I didn't like certain things on it and she would tell you if it can be removed or if it could altered in anyway. They do carry the Alfred Angelo bridal designer which was great because that's the line I loved. I brought my dress at this store knowing I made the right decision. The ladies in there all almost cried when we KNEW it was the dress, you can tell they really do care. Sometimes they have specials going on, and I even got (really good useful) freebies since I said yes the same day of the first appointment! I would highly recommend using this store.
