My favorite was the Banh Mi one though. I love that they have unique versions of it. I really wanted to try their halibut burrito, but unfortunately, they were out of halibut when I was there. The only downside for me is that they only have outdoor seating and while they have heaters, they aren't turned on in the summer. Summer in Alaska isn't very warm, but it's worth being cold to eat here! This is my favorite place we ate on our month long trip to Alaska. If you're on Valdez, it's a must try. The menus they have show the crunch wrap is $15 but when you order it they charge $16. I even paid cash. I asked why she was charging me $1 more than the menu and she said "oh we haven't updated those yet". Which seems odd. The only place the menu is posted is on the ten so menus they have outside. It was so flavorful and huge that I really want to invest in this business and open more locations. I wish I would've ordered mine without jalapeños because they are freshly sliced and super hot. Came in for a dinner after a long day of biking in Valdez! We ordered the Crunchwrap with added guac and corn salsa, along with the burrito with added guac. The Crunchwrap was great and splitting one between the two of us was basically enough for dinner. The burrito on the other hand wasn't very appetizing, which is strange as it uses many of the same ingredients as the Crunchwrap. Fortunately, I've been spoiled with California Mexican food and can't say that this compares, though it's still pretty tasty. They had a large variety of beers (canned) so we also tried the richardson ruby an alaska amber ale. The Richardson ruby was tasty, light, and had a hint of raspberry. So my first piece of advice is, if there are more than 8 people in line, order a snack next door at Glacier Grindz and get ready to wait 45 minutes (just to order your food!!!!!!!). There was absolutely no communication or regard from the person at the window taking orders for how unbearably slow the process was just to take everyone's food order. She would take one group's order, then disappear for 5-10 minutes give someone else their food and proceed to take the next group's order. So I waited in line while my wife grabbed a reindeer dog next door at Glacier Grindz, and we ate it in line at Nat Shack, hopefully to send a passive aggressive message. Ahhhhh finally made it to the front of the line. Ready to order some yummy Inferno Fries. Oh wait what was that, you're out of Inferno Fries you say? Thanks for making me wait 45 minutes just to tell me that. No sign? No shouting from the window "Hey everyone we're out of inferno fries." So I roll my eyes and then I see someone dumping fries into the fryer so I ask "can we just have some regular fries?" And she says "well it really slows us down when we have to make fries." Okie dokie. We order a gyro and banh mi crunchwrap plus share some halibut tacos. 20 minutes later we are finally eating. The tacos would have been absolutely delicious on their own, had they not been drowning in that sauce. Perfectly cooked halibut drenched in chipotle mayo. I don't get it. I will say that the crunchwraps were pretty freakin good especially the bahn mi. If you're reading this, you might be asking yourself why would I leave a 4 star review when I was so critical of the food service quality and overall operation. The reason is, I'm not going to tear apart a business' chance at success because of bad service when the food is inherently very good. Honestly, I hate when Yelp reviewers do that. Natalie, Alec and nate (rip) do an amazing job and their prices are more reasonable than the sit down restaurants in town. Ordered 2 classic crunch wraps, 1 banh mi crunch wrap and the banh mi tacos. You honestly can't go wrong with the classic. The banh mi wrap n tacos.. hit those with some lime and boom. Food-gasm in your mouth. This place has absolutely outstanding food, it's one of the best places to eat in Valdez (in the summer). They mainly have new-school takes on Mexican food, made fresh, and often featuring seafood. I waited a few minutes at the window earlier in the day, when they finally went take my order, I ordered coffee and they told me they were out of coffee...but offered to sell me a bag of beans? (maybe...make that bag of beans into new coffee and sell it to me?) Later, for dinner, I ordered a burrito bowl. I asked to add habanero salsa, they were out. So I then asked to add green salsa, they were out. They explained that they make all their salsa in-house. (maybe make some more then?) When we got our bowls, none of them came with cheese (as the menu said they did), so we had to go up and get it added. To their credit, they did realize the salsa travesty and gave us some free chipotle sauce. I hope they can get their processes better dialed in! After a day of fishing, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs but note that the portions are huge! We ordered the Dip Flight. I love me some variety and in the form of dip - win, win. It's a huge platter of chips with garlicky guacamole, salsa, nacho cheese and a spicy dip. The spicy is nice spicy for me but too much for my partner. Next was the Inferno Fries which was enough for 4 people as was the Dip Flight. They were spicy but not overly so, piping hot and cooked perfectly. The nacho cheese on the side was a great dipper for them. We did a surf and turf and shared one each of the two tacos of halibut and flank steak. The halibut is not fried and the steak is almost ground which I wasn't expecting for either but let me tell you, they were both really good. I didn't know this is a food truck! They only have outdoor seating. After ordering, they will give you a number to put on your table. Someone will bring the food to your table. The food is delicious! All my tacos are nice and filled with distinct flavors. My only complaint is that it's so slow during peak hours. We waited and waited and waited out in the cool air. The food was worth it, but we really wish it were faster, but I understand since there are only four(?) staff doing everything from ordering to cooking to serving. read more

The taco the hubs and I shared was pretty good. We wanted the Alaskan halibut, but it was sold out by the PM. The shack was a 2nd popular option as it was recommended as a substitute. The carne asada and cabbage slaw went well together imo. The corn salsa and creamy chipotle were really messy to eat, but it's oh so good. For a whopping $5.50 of such a small taco, it's kinda pricey. Good but pricey. If you want to be content, get at least 3 to 4 of these little suckers. We were food hopping (is that a thing?!) so we pretty much halved the little taco. Nat Shack is pretty much a food truck. If you're heading out to Valdez do not skip the Nat shack. It's a cute pink and black food truck down by the docks. The best tacos in southern Alaska hands down. With a pretty sweet view of beautiful boats, (& some Not so Pretty boats), mountains, and the bay, if I might add. It's a nice laid back approach than a full sit down dining (saves $ too) The entire menu is à la carte but I love the choices from halibut, pork, to beef, this food truck does not disappoint. I hate a halibut and a shrimp tacos and let me tell you' party in my mouth. I had a bite of the Bahn mi taco and regretted not getting another one, but my tummy said no more Room. Don't forget to grab a beer to go with your tacos. There is outdoor dining but be prepared if it's drizzling to eat in your car. Most spots in Valdez are crazy expensive this place found deliciousness for a great price which made it a dynamic duo and win after a day on the water. It was good. There was a long wait. They have tables outdoors and we were lucky to get one (not under the tent they have there, but that's ok), before a lot of other people showed up. The wait was long, so take that into consideration. I noticed a lot of people ordered before and just showed up to pick, which would have been the smart thing to do, but we were in town just for a couple of days. The halibut tacos were the best of all the food we ordered for our family of 5. My son didn't care much for crunchy wrap with ground beef, but it was ok. I wish they had a spicy salsa option. Nat Shack fast became one of my fave places to eat in Valdez, and you know there's not that many. It's a food truck, and somehow, i always trust the food from a food truck, no idea why. I always get the Nat Shack Crunch Wrap, because it's amazing savory goodness, in a hand held wrap, kind of like a Mexican version of a Cornish Pasty. Different flavours of course, but same sort of concept. I love how everywhere you bite, it tastes different. And they are very filling. Just what you need after a day fishing for coho (and tumbling down the rocks 3 times) at Allison Point. It certainly replenishes that lost energy and warms you up. Yum read more

Our group got halibut tacos ($7.50 each), a taco salad ($16), and chips and salsa ($3). There was a bit of a wait around lunch time so don't expect to be in and out quickly, but there is ample outdoor seating and it's right by the docks, so it's a comfortable place to wait.
