I also had tacos one evening, with the fish of the day which was fresh sockeye salmon and it was everything I hoped for. We have eaten here twice. 6 years ago and today. People are complaining it's expensive, but if you go to the local grocery store, a regular size bag of tortilla chips is $10.79. So as to the price for what you get, it's reasonable. The breakfast burritos are big and can fill up two people. We added reindeer sausage to the scrambled eggs, potatoes, and cheese inside. Then it's lightly topped with green and red salsas. The coffee prices are reasonable. The service is good and the seating is nice and comfortable. It was good 6 years ago and still is. I loved this place! I got a breakfast taco and I don't really eat breakfast, but it was great! We went back a second time and I wanted more of everything. So I was a pig and ordered a halibut taco, enchilada bowl and a peanut butter shake! The halibut taco was the best taco ever! I ate some of the enchilada bowl with some help from my sons. The shake was delicious! I left feeling very fulfilled. It's a great place to eat. They have indoor or outdoor seating. I watched some kids feed weeds to fake flamingos which made me smile. The $15 fish tacos are so fresh, they are the best fish tacos I've ever had in my life. Maybe since I don't live up here, I rarely get a taste of seafood that has never been frozen and are caught right here, but it is unbeatable. I think one taco goes for $5.75 or $8.25 on the menu, but we got the plate with rice and choice of black or pinto beans. And I thoroughly enjoyed the Kiwi girl working the till. The couple that runs Baja Taco spend the summers serving tacos out of an old red school bus in Alaska and their winters in Mexico. The food is fresh and the atmosphere is fun. Seating options are inside, under a porch (a old car bench seat doubles as chairs), and outside on picnic tables, with great views of the Cordova harbor. The fish tacos are not to be missed here---the halibut is very fresh and the lettuce was pretty good for having been shipped in from the Lower 48. The fajitas had a little too much cheese but overall the selection was pretty good. Don't miss the smoothies, especially the espresso ones. Vegetarians sort of get the short end of the stick in that their only options are burritos. read more

I didn't get it. The place is nice and friendly, but overall not impressed impressed with the food. The works nachos was decent, and plentiful. I halibut for fish tacos was good. But skip the plate. Rice was not good, black beans appeared to have been dumped straight from a can. They were hard, and further cooked or even warmed. Sprinkled cheese could not melt. Pinto beans in burrito the same. As I'm writing I will change the 2 stars to 3, with the note to avoid the sides, especially beans. But shame on them for serving up that cold food read more

I recently spent a long weekend in Cordova and Baja Taco became one of my favorite spots. Located down by the harbor, it's a food cart but they have an attached dining room as well as outdoor and porch seating. They have a Mexican day of the dead decorating thing going on so there's lots of atmosphere as well as local flavor. They do espresso, so we stopped by every day (sometimes twice a day) to get americanos. Every cup was tasty. We had lunch there one day too and tried three different plates. My favorite by far was the Chicken Mole plate. So flavorful. Sitting in their dining room and having good mexican food and a big glass of beer was an excellent way to escape the chilly cordova June drizzle. The other tables are usually full of fisherfolk talking about their boats and fishing, so there's good eavesdropping too. There's a great selection of affordable tshirts with the taco shack on the front and Cordova Alaska on the back. I got three, one for myself and some for friends. read more
