This is a gem in the town of Valdez. The food in the natural grocery store is one you don't want to miss! The coffee is delicious, the homemade bake goods were melt in your mouth scrumptious! We ordered a smoothie packed with vitamins, berries and nuts for our 5 year old. We had the basics which was a good choice! He loved it. I ordered the soup of the day which was "Red Lentil Curry" it had so much flavor! We also got the "Tomato Bisque", Veggie Avocado Sandwich, and Ham and Cheese which were all amazing! We also stocked up and snacks for the car ride, all healthy, everything we get at home! It was the perfect place in Valdez! The staff were all so friendly, kind and knowledgeable! Listen, a 4-star rating is not because the ambiance and food weren't excellent, it was. I just couldn't find a seat and there was quite a bit of noise. That is my fault, not Rogue's!! Service was spot on. I was looking for a quiet place to catch up on emails with a coffee and a light lunch. What I found was a quaint store that met all fo my needs and then some. I was surprised with their verity of organic grocery's along with a full service espresso bar and a deli style kitchen. This is a hidden gem! The cafe is inside a small grocery/convenience store. Their pastries and coffee/tea are great. We got some a scone, a pizza croissant, and a blueberry pastry and all of them tasted perfect. The staff was also very nice and welcoming - highly recommend! read more

Stopped in for lunch before heading over to McCarthy. Decided to eat here as it was the only place rated decently in Valdez. Go in and there are 5 employees not really doing anything, but none of them address us. Okay... After standing there for 5 or so minutes, we finally ask one girl if this is where we order, and then she walks us over to these small strips of paper and tells us that the process is to fill one out and give it to her. So, what I want isn't even on that strip of paper - I just wanted a toasted bagel with butter and cream cheese, so she ends up having to actually take my order, anyway, while my husband was forced to check the box next to the bowl of soup option, and give her the piece of paper. Extremely lame process - was this supposed to be some kind of cool thing? Because there are 5 employees doing nothing (obviously over-staffed) and it would be WAY faster to just address us when we come in and take our order. So, we sit at the bar behind the coffee machine to wait, and then one of the staff asks if we'd like to order. What?! 5 feet away, we just gave our order, while she was standing there. Good grief. I watch them put the bagel through the toaster machine, and then the person who takes it out is confused as to who to give it to (because again, everyone standing around, but no one paying attention). I get it and the butter is rock hard cold (pet peeve!), and the bagel is barely toasted. I should have asked them to put it through the machine again, but I didn't, as they weren't asking me if I needed anything else. So I attempt to warm the butter up on the barely warm bagel, and then give up, and take a bite, and this is NOT a bagel at all! This is some really DENSE bread in the shape of a bagel. *Sigh* At least the bread tasted decent, but I'm not a fan of dense bread. The homemade(?) strawberry creamcheese was good, so that was the saving grace of this disaster. My husband's soup was good. Don't rememer the flavor, as it was unremarkable (this was 2 weeks ago - I should remember if it was good), but I remember it was decent. It came with a different version of dense bread to go with it. Overall, extremely unimpressed. Would not go back, nor recommend anyone else to go through the hassle of attempting to even order here. read more

A little pricey but the selection was better than anything I've found living in Fairbanks so I was tempted to stock up! Worth the effort to "find" - the Panini sandwiches we had were flavorful, a generous size for lunch, and were toasted to that perfect point (not burnt, but rather Golden brown). The bean soup was a perfect match; hardy & flavorful, and nicely offset any chill you might have from walking around town. I don't think I could live in Valdez without Rogue's Garden. The absolute BEST espresso in town. Delicious breakfast and lunch to stay or easy to take with you. Plus, such high quality, natural and organic options - supplements, produce, meat, dairy, bulk grains and spices. It's amazing how much is packed in that little store. A real find amidst fried seafood everywhere. Mushroom soup (not creamy) was wonderful. Turkey wraps really good, followed by wonderful cookies and coffee. So grateful to the local that told us about this place. read more

I have lived in Valdez over 26 years. Rogue's Garden is one on a short list of Valdez businesses where I truly enjoy shopping. As a small, somewhat remote location, competition in Valdez is limited, this leads to poor customer service at many of the businesses. The local Safeway store is an excellent example of poor customer service. Rogue's Garden has a unique variety of products and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Customer service is very important to me, if you feel the same way this is the place to shop in Valdez. They do tend to run out of items frequently, otherwise a 5 star rating would be in order. read more

Rouges Garden is one of the locals favorites in Valdez! It's the best place in town to get a good cup of coffee or espresso, baked goods, lunch or breakfast. We are so lucky to have a natural food store like Rouges here in tiny Valdez.
