    Tasting session

A few girlfriends and I were looking for a spot to grab drinks before dinner and couldn't be happier with our decision. The makgoli was so smooth and clean vs the store bought makoli you get at the supermarket. It was so delicious I bought 3 bottles to go for a dinner party I had the following evening. Inside the ambiance is warm and inviting and plan on coming back to buy more bottles to enjoy at home. Definitely worth checking out!

They do the private label for Chimmelier Chicken and Yangban!! Amazing partnership!

My mom and I stumbled across Nasung while strolling around Downtown Fullerton on a Saturday night. The interior had such a beautiful mural that we were drawn to come inside. We were greeted by the co-owner and we had a wonderful complimentary tasting of the drinks they have. They make their own rice wines and soju and even do private label for some well known restaurants in LA (Chimmelier and Yangban). Impressive! It was such a treat to be able to taste some of their new rice wine flavors that they were testing for their partnership with Stereoscope Coffee! We tried a cold brew rice wine and matcha rice wine. The matcha ended up being my favorite because the bitter really helped bring out the sweetness of the rice wine! We also tried their soju, original rice wine, and a Horchata rice wine that is also being developed. The Horchata was my mom's favorite because the cinnamon paired so well with the rice flavor! Please finish testing your new flavors so we can buy the matcha and horchata ones!! We ended up purchasing a bottle of rice wine and a bottle of soju for my grandpa to try. Update: he drank the rice wine in one sitting so that means they're doing something right!

I tried the Dark Rituals, a fusion of rye stout and barley wine, that I may never forget. It's delicious. The beertender took great care of us, and we had a wonderful time there. I was so impressed by Dark Rituals that I can't even tell you which IPA my husband tried, other that to tell you that he thought it was great. The place itself is way cool, with decor that celebrates the brewery's dedication to science. The beertender gave us a lot of background regarding the beers and the company. All in all, a great place, and beer aficionados should check it out.

Great beer, but a frustrating open-tab policy keeps it from 5 stars…read moreI've been here a few times and I honestly don't think I've ever had a bad beer. The selection is solid and the quality is consistently high -- I highly recommend the beers themselves. That said, I can't give 5 stars after a recent visit. I ordered an $8 beer, opened a tab, and then had to leave unexpectedly right after (didn't even get to drink it). I assumed any unclosed tab would default to a standard 20% tip. Instead, I was charged $14.16 total , which works out to roughly a 68% tip on the beer. I understand that open tabs are annoying for the staff, and things happen. But when you don't have a working phone or aren't given the chance to close out, a nearly 70% automatic charge feels excessive. A clearer policy or lower default gratuity on abandoned tabs would go a long way. Plenty of great beer options in SoCal, so this definitely stings. Hoping they reconsider the approach.

They have a good selection of American food, and I ordered chicken risotto ($24) from the "favorites" section of the menu. Portion sizes here are good, and we were very full after dinner. Service here was basic, and we got everything we needed. Friday night is also a peak time at Downtown Fullerton, so it was hard to find parking spot. However, the ambience here was relaxed. While the chicken risotto was pricy, I enjoyed the mixed flavors and large portion size. The flavor came from the caper-parmesan beurre blanc sauce. It's a slightly creamy butter sauce with mild sweetness and added flavor from white wine. The capers added a very welcome tangy and savory seasoning to the sauce; they're one of my favorite garnishes. The flavors from the breaded chicken and risotto weren't too strong. However, I would've liked the dish more with if they put less parmesan because I enjoyed the flavor from the beurre blanc sauce the most.
