We truly enjoy this place and come here when we think of it - it's a bit out of town. The food is always excellent. The service is usually quite good, although we have had a couple of misses. The old house is beautiful and creates a great atmosphere, but it could use a refresh in some areas - for example, the carpet and restrooms are worn and dated. This last visit was with friends, and we arrived on the late side without reservations but were greeted with smiles and never rushed. We had sautéed crab claws to start, which are served in a sauce similar to New Orleans style barbeque shrimp. They were large and tender, and the sauce was great for bread dipping. We ordered seafood pasta (sorry, no photo), chicken Parmesan, veal osso bucco, and paneed veal. All were delicious and perfectly cooked, served hot and fresh. What a great disappointment. So looking forward to what we remembered as an excellent restaurant. Not so anymore. First, the oyster and crab dish we were wanting "wasn't being served ". Second, the fried eggplant tasted like they opened a frozen bag that you buy in the grocery store. The batter was so thick you couldn't taste the eggplant. My husband's salad was nice with a great homemade French dressing, whereas mine with Italian dressing tasted only of oil with some herbs sprinkled in it. I couldn't eat it. My husband's duck entree was very fatty and not that tender and my Veal Picatta sure didn't taste like veal. It tasted like slices of pork tenderloin. It was way too thick to taste like a quality white veal. Sauce was thick and overpowering, not a simple lemon, butter, garlic sauce. We were never given a glass of water like the table next to us was. The beautiful old house is falling into disrepair. What a shame in all aspects. We won't be back. read more

We used to love Nash's but were extremely disappointed with our recent evening out and assumed there must be a new chef since our last visit there. The calamari was not fresh and over fried and the lasagna was definitely different than the past and not as good . We asked for bread to be brought with the calamari and it didn't arrive until after our salad .....we were told they forgot to turn on the oven ! We were the only people there all night and in fact they closed after we left because of no customers. We were told they have had other nights with only one table . I hope they can get it back together as they used to be and customers will return but for now we have crossed it off our list for a nice local restaurant. read more

Very quant and homey ambiance. Our waitress was awesome. We got the sauteed crab legs with bread for our app. They were super tasty but it was only about 10 legs so not filling. For entree I got the catch of the day which was a type of mediterranean fish and my husband got the Veal Sorrentino, he said it was ok but very small portioned. Fish did not have much flavor. The caesar salads were good but small. For dessert we had the lemon cake and bread pudding, both delicious! Sort of a mixed review, portion size and flavor seemed inconsistent, especially since it was over $100 for our meal. I would much rather spend that type of $ somewhere's else. read more

Before visiting Parish Brewing, we planned to have lunch in Broussard, but when we arrived at our original destination, we discovered it was closed without announcement on New Year's Eve. Hungry after traveling through six parishes, my parents and I decided to have lunch at the nearest place we could find ― the restaurant across the street, Nash's. Located in an old gingerbread house from the early 1900s, a meal at Nash's is a lot like dining at Miss Havisham's house: The place is ramshackle and loaded with bric-a-brac of no discernible value, with worn-out chairs and faded, out-of-style prints on the walls. Add in the big glassed-in porch and the camellias in full bloom, and you get something best described as "small-town fancy." The menu is a mix of Italian and Louisiana cuisine; we mostly stuck to the former on our visit, though I did order a bowl of the chicken and sausage gumbo. We all agreed the flavor of the gumbo was excellent, but the consistency was too watery. "That's not gumbo. You got soup," my mom said. If it had the right consistency, it would've been a triumph. My chicken parmigiana lunch special was good, and my mom enjoyed her spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs had good flavor and were moist. My father raved about his seafood pasta ― "the best seafood pasta I've ever had in my life," he said ― but my mom said it tasted "fishy." Service was friendly and attentive, and my parents especially seemed to enjoy themselves, which mattered most to me. None of the food was particularly mind-blowing, but nothing was bad, either. What ultimately drops it from four stars to three are the prices; with most entrées priced close to or over $30, I'd want the quality to be a little higher than that of your ordinary red sauce joint. That bowl of gumbo was $16, a price that would be unacceptable in the French Quarter, let alone small-town Broussard ― and that's if it weren't watery. Nash's was a bit of a lucky find and happy accident when we found ourselves in a pinch in an unfamiliar town, and we didn't have a bad meal there. But Nash's has several things it needs to attend to before it becomes a great restaurant ― or one worthy of a journey across six parishes. read more

Had a dinner party here recently and the food was above average. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgable with regard to the menu. We ordered several appetizers including BBQ Shrimp, Fish Beignets, calamari, and Fried Eggplant, all of which were tasty. The atmosphere is nice, low lit lights. The house is old and certainly has character and ambience. If I had to find a negative it would be the room temperature, which was a bit too toasty for my liking. Also, the price for the Filet/Lobster special was $120, which I find a bit pricey. Overall, I had a good experience. read more

Wine and crab fingers were great. The came main dish Chilean sea bass and crawfish macaroni. The bass was so fishy, it was uneditable. Server offered a different fish to try, my husband declined. Unfortunately this restraunt has really gone downhill (like most things in lafayette it seems). Nash's used to be fantastic, but the last several times we've been things are just very lackluster, the building is in major need of some TLC/Renovation in order to keep its charm. The food has been generally "just ok", Imoneli or Antonis is much better these days. I hope they're able to pull through, invest in their business and fix these issues. TL:DR - they took the one vegetarian entrée off the menu on Christmas Eve and then refused to make it for me. This review is so conflicted because I liked my food but I ended up having the worst poops and farts after that my girlfriend yelled at me for it, not to mention the stomach cramps. We went there on Christmas Eve for dinner with her family. We had checked out several restaurants in the area as I'm a vegetarian and we had to find a place that could work. When we saw eggplant parm on the menu I got excited as it's my favorite, it was also the only vegetarian entrée on the menu. We called and made the reservations. When we showed up we were handed special menus just for Christmas Eve. Of course this new menu, that we weren't told about, didn't have the eggplant parm on it. They had fried eggplant, veal parm, a veal dish on top of eggplant, but no eggplant parm. No vegetarian entrée at all actually. Naturally the solution to this is to simply ask if they can make it as they clearly have all the things on the menu to make it. So I did. I was promptly told no and then told that I can only order what's on the menu and there were no substitutions. The waitress then walked off before I could even ask anything else. I settled on the soft shell crab (I eat seafood every now and then but my body doesn't process meat well) and it was good. However, it wasn't the dish I wanted. We weren't told while making the reservations that they would have a limited menu. Also if you are going to make a limited menu, then at least have a dang vegetarian option OR be willing to make one. read more

This is a wonderful and romantic setting which is located inside of an old converted Victorian style home. There are several smaller sized rooms with tons of windows so that it is quieter and more private but with the windows it still feels very open and comfortable. The wine list was fairly good but I would love to see more Imported wines but I had no issue finding a wonderful red. We tried the crab cakes and also The crab claws. Both were fantastic. The salad was just average but the rolls made up for that by far. On this occasion, I went with the fish of the day which was a grilled red fish and I had it with shrimp fettuccine Alfredo. It was so good I would have licked the plate if I was at home. :) One note. The Alfredo here is more of a cajun version than a plain white alfredo sauce. It has great flavor and is mind blowing. If you enjoy an alfredo this will quickly be your favorite sauce. So. Is that it? Nope. The deserts were excellent and in fact so good, we ate one at the restaurant and bought another to take home for the next day. The bananas foster cheesecake is superb. One of the best desserts I have eaten. There is also a turtle cheesecake and many other desserts. The service was great and I can't wait to get back over here for a repeat. Enjoy! read more

Recently had lunch at Nash's. My friend and I each ordered the salad special which the waitress described as cucumbers, avocado, cauliflower and tomatoes on a spring mix with grilled chicken on top. The avocado was spoiled and not edible. When we showed her, she went to the kitchen and returned with two wedges of avocado. This salad cost us each $20.65 and it was not at all what we expected. Had dinner here last night for the first time. We got there pretty early, I would say around 6:30 or so, and there was hardly anyone there. We did not have a reservation, but apparently all those empty tables did (many of which were still empty when we left.) We were seated promptly in one of the interior rooms, but had two nice big windows to see outside. The house is beautiful and I love the layout and design. Our spread looked like this: 15 oz - New York Strip Pepper Steak - cooked medium, but should have gone medium rare. It was a little dry, but you could tell the flavor would have been there. It came with an assortment of vegetables, which were actually really good, and some kind of sweet potato souffle, which I really liked. Stuffed Amberjack - holy s***! This dish was absolutely phenomenal. it was a filet of Amberjack stuffed with shrimp and crabmeat dressing, Topped with a shrimp cream sauce. The fish was cooked to perfection and everything mixed perfectly together. I was licking the plate clean! Overall, Nash's... you rock! read more

i ordered the Veal Orleans. i think it was $42. listed as veal with lump crab meat and sauce, The veal was a big disappointment. it was thin (1/8 in.) and I do not beleive it was even 4 oz. it could have been any meat. I came here with three co-workers and we were quickly seated. The wine selection is minimal, but I'm use to Houston type wine selections. Our waiter was friendly and we had no problems. I ordered the veal with asparagus. It came out skimpy, but with great flavor. This place would have made four stars with just a little more substance to the menu. I would definitely come back. An old home that has been nicely converted into a family restaurant. The service and food is very good. This was not my first trip here and I must say that I was disappointed with my most recent visit. From the menu we ordered pecan crusted trout and we received under seasoned fish with roasted pecan pieces on top. Not what I call crusted. The side portions were small but adequate. I found the food to be somewhat bland with little flavor. Very disappointed. However, it is a nice place to bring a date or your spouse. I have to say again - that we have been please in the past. I'm hoping that this was just an off night. I had a chocolate pie that was no better than a frozen pie from WalMart. read more

Staff was very nice. Salad, soup and appetizers were great. Surf and turf, only the Filet was properly cooked. The lobster was very rubbery throughout and over cooked. After letting the server know this a woman dressed in a T-shirt and jeans came to assess the issue. I gave her a piece to bring in the back to confirm. All she did was come back and explain they used the proper cook time and there was nothing she could do. She offered free dessert, but we were highly upset, refused dessert, paid an extremely high bill and left. read more

Nash's is always top of the list when thinking about dining out, especially for special occasions. Nash's not only serves delicious food, it also allows diners to enjoy the experience--candle lit tables where one can actually converse without yelling over the din. I love eating at one of the tables on the (interior) porch because it allows diners to experience an intimate meal. The staff is friendly & attentive. The excellent customer service begins when greeted and escorted to table & continues throughout the meal. My personal favorite (I am a light eater) are the Fish Beignets ...YUMMY! I have a hard time trying to decide what to choose Italian &/or seafood, it is all delicious! read more

Not a lot can be said good about this place except for the design. It's in an old house and is very charming. Unfortunately, the last time I went, the ambiance was hampered by a violin player who was entirely too loud. If you stick to basic Italian or fried foods, it's OK. Wander outside that genre, and you could be asking for trouble. They hang their hat on Italian and New Orleans style, which is an odd combo to be sure. As much as I want to like this place, as a lot of locals do, I just can't give it more than 2 stars. I guess if you were 16 and going on a dress-up date, you might be impressed. I went and had dinner here for the first time with my husband. Driving there I thought maybe we were going to end up having dinner on an oilfield tool yard because we passed so many industrial buildings on the way but then right past all of that tucked away in Broussard is an incredibly charming antique home. The restaurant is very quiet and not very crowded which actually made it perfect if you want to enjoy a relaxing and romantic date night. Our waitress was really sweet and very attentive. We started out with an appetizer picked off the specials menu of Italian Sausage Egg rolls. The meat was well seasoned and they were perfectly crispy fried without being greasy and served with a cup of homemade marinara. For dinner I had the Chicken Parmesan, and while I have never been served a bad Chicken Parmesan before, this one was exceptionally good. I think the homemade marinara and their choice of cheeses to use in the dish made it. My husband had a fried shrimp platter and I tried one of his shrimp and they were perfect, I don't know how to describe the perfect fried shrimp but I know what it tastes like, delicious. The restaurant is expensive but it is a fine dining restaurant so what do you expect? Overall the quality, atmosphere and service exceeded my expectations and I had a very nice dinner and time. read more

This restaurant is receiving two stars due to the service. The server seemed disinterested in her job and without enthusiasm. As she approached the table from behind, she would start talking to me as if my face was on the back of my head, asking me if I wanted something else. This was rude. I ask her to bring bread to the table. The catch of the day was very good and well prepared.
