Everything here we've ordered is the bomb. I always get the tokonsu miso ramen with extra egg and it hits the spot every time. We've had the karagi(?) chicken and the fried shrimp stuffed with green chili, both excellent. If you ask, they'll crisp up the pork for you in your ramen (I don't like it fatty...unless you crisp it up ). That broth is food for the soul...so good! read more

I went here with a group of friends this past Saturday. I ordered the noodles and he ordered the chicken ramen with pork meat. The restaurant itself is small but does have a ramen house feel to it. Our food came out and there was a big thick hair in the ramen. The server asked us if we wanted to send it back. We said no and continued to eat the hair soup. My noodles were good but were a small portion size for 10$ I ended up eating pizza later that night because I was still kinda hungry. We ordered the garlic honey chicken wings and those were good but they were deep friend and everything tastes good deep fried. It was okay but I probably won't be going back. Holy deliciousness! The noodles were fresh, delicious, perfectly prepared. My hubby got the curry, said it was spicy, but never put his spoon down. My lil guy couldn't get enough of my yaki soba! Went for dinner last night. The husband and I shared the Kimchee Fried Rice so good. Then I had the Naruto Ramen the husband had the Seafood Ramen. Both very generous portions the noodles were excellent in mine there were pieces of nori a whole soft boiled egg sliced in half. On the table there is garlic vinegar ginger and sesame oil to season your Ramen as you see fit. Food was excellent. The people around us were great to talk to. For dessert we had the Tempura Fried Cheesecake all I can say is OMG. We will definitely be back! read more

This place is delicious! We were here for a couple appointments this week and this is the third time we have visited. I appreciate that I can get gluten free options and that they are just as tasty and reasonably priced. The menu is really easy to work through- a few noodle places I have been to in the past are way more complicated. Service is fast and really friendly. The green tea is excellent. The appetizers are amazing- try the edamame or the gyoza. I love that you can adjust the spiciness level of your noodles as well. read more

I had delivery from grub hub. I didn't know what to expect since you never know how long a 3rd party delivery person may take. But it was very quick after recieving the notice they had left the restaurant. I ordered ramen, their crispy chicken and then mango cheesecake. I love how they packaged the ramen with the broth separate. Maybe that's how they all do but I've never had ramen delivered before. It was great. The broth was deep and comforting. I ordered the extra pork and the way the packaging was actually kept it crispy longer. The chicken was also spot on. Crispy. Tasty. And I've never put lemon on my fried chicken before but it was in the box so I went with it. It was lovely. Now the unfortunate finale. I have no words to describe how bad that cheesecake was. First off it was the tiniest little sliver. But it doesn't matter because I actually spit it out. Mind you as soon as it arrived it went straight in the fridge while I ate. I took it out and while I was disappointed in the size (that's what she said) I was excited to see what looked like tiny pieces of mango. But then I took a bite. If it's possible that cheesecake could be "tough" this was it. It was almost leathery and could only assume it might have been leftover from 1996. It was bad. I'm 46 and can honestly say I had never in my life spit out a bite of cheesecake. Until tonight. Granted, I didn't order for the cheesecake. But it was an item and I did order and pay for it. I had two different experience one Dine in and other take out the dine in was really good the food tasted fresh. Now the take out the food tasted like it was sitting there for hours we had some hard noodles that did not go soft. They do separate the broth from the meal when you do take out. We just ate at Naruto, and we sampled three different ramens: vegetarian, miso, and tonkatsu. It was edible, but very bland. It was so bland that one member, who loves bland food like white rice, commented that it was even bland for her. I added the extra spicy peppers as a side, and I was very glad because that was the only interesting favour. This is the second time I've dined here, and I love, love, love it. We went on a Saturday night around 7 p.m., so I thought we'd have to wait, but nope, they got us in right away. We ordered the miso and chashu ramen, which comes with pork, egg, fish cake, scallions, and black mushrooms, and a side of pork-fried rice. The noodles here are TERRIFIC. Firm, but definitely palatable. I order my bowls with butter, something I Iearned that really takes it up a notch from living in Japan. The pork-fried rice was AMAZING. In high school, I had a chemistry teacher who'd been struck by lightning not once, but twice. He had this huge lump on the top of his bald skull and a slow, "Bueller"-esque delivery. That's some really rough luck, man. If you're the type that believes everything happens for a reason, or there's some divine hand involved with this Life deal, explain my chemistry teacher. In Albuquerque, we don't come across this kind of good luck very often: not one, but two terrific restaurants, on the same block -- within a few feet of one another -- both serving delicious, identical international cuisine. In this case, authentic ramen is the soup du jour, and astonishingly, Naruto manages to match the quality of its neighbor while establishing its own identity in terms of flavor and vibe. The broth and atmosphere at this joint are brighter, far lighter, and slightly more nuanced than the place up the block. I'm not as much of a fan, but it's mere preference: if I'm going to essentially mainline sodium into my veins, I prefer rich pork sludge. I'm talking about the tonkatsu, here: not a lot to it. On the flip side, my wife's miso ramen was a huge hit; I actually begged to switch, but she was like, nah ah. I ended up doctoring my dish with a spice concoction sent from the kitchen. That did the trick. I liked the beer selection, service and simplicity of the menu, and again, I'm pretty shocked by our collective good luck with ramen. I think I would be remiss if I didn't at least point out that placement of this restaurant was a tad obvious. A jumpin' on the bandwagon kinda thing. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with providing a little competition to the new kid on the block, that's just entrepreneurial spirit, but c'mon, right next door? Not a block over, or a few blocks up, but right right there? Ah, well. I could think of a few online review sites that are trying to bite the rhymes of an original, too, but that's another story altogether. read more

This was my first time having Ramen in a restaurant. I didn't even know there was such a thing. I've only ever had top ramen. lol. However, I know good noodles. I ordered the Super Rich. It was creamy and delicious and messy to eat. It comes with an assortment of things that could include eggs, meat and green onions. You can also add lots of other topping options. For $7.95, I was very satisfied and full. I loved that they had a pretty short menu. Let's just focus on the Ramen! We also ordered the fried eggplant appetizer...DELICIOUS. The dipping suace was salty and sweet. Yum. And finished it all off with mochi ice cream. It was my first time trying mochi ice cream, it was ok. Not bad but the chewy texture of the candy wrapped around the ice cream isn't really my thing. But I can't knock them on that. I'm just not used to the texture. Sights, flavors, scents...all reminded my kids and I of the time we lived in Japan. The more we come to Albuquerque the more of these awesome places we discover. Prices were okay, you won't go broke eating here. It is not a pretentious place where you'll find "Asian cuisine afficonados". What you'll find is a ramen house the same size as that in Asia with friendly staff, reasonably priced delicious meal options. The sake prices are a bit high, but that is to be expected. I'd recommend coming early in the evening because the place gets packed and youre likely to wait for a table or a spot at the bar. read more

Who would have thought.... dueling Ramen shops in the Duke City. This isn't your usual wild west shoot out. I am a super fan of O Ramen and when another shop opened within steps of it, I had to give it a try. I have to say, no matter what your personal tastes are you'll find a shop that speaks to you. Even though the menu is similar, there are enough differences that Naruto stands alone. Naruto has a lighter brighter interior with what seems like more seating. Service is quick and efficient making this a natural place for quick lunch stop. The menu is also a lighter and brighter, fewer choices than at O Ramen and lots of seafood options. Pretty fabulous dishes. I like my ramen spicy and ordered extra spice which came on the side. I got the spiciest sauce and really enjoyed it. The noodles also have a different texture and mouth feel. Honestly, I have my favorite.... and I challenge you to try both and decide where your loyalties lie! read more

I originally went here because of the name. My friends and I are absolutely obsessed with Naruto! We went for my best friends birthday. And we ate everything! You can start with the basics soup, and then build up with different toppings. Of course you have to pay for the toppings, but who can say no to eggs in the Ramen! I would have, on any other day, given these guys a 5+. However today something was awry. Their typically perfectly seasoned Super rich tonkantsu broth was sooooo over peppered. All I could taste was the black pepper. :-( The noodles, although not homemade, are usually nicely cooked, today mushy and oozing the starch into the broth of the soup. My husbands extra noodles were just a ball on the bowl that he couldn't separate even after they were in the broth. We sat at the bar where usually in a open kitchen concept like this the chefs talk to their customers. Not these guys. Had they asked how everything was, I could have gotten some of this possibly resolved. Instead they served mediocre food tonight to all their guests . Which is unfortunate because we love this place. Naruto sits in the middle of my ramen-in-ABQ rankings, but that means I'm still going to visit every few weeks. Overall, while the flavors aren't the most ground-breaking, the food has been consistently good (I'm partial to the tonkotsu and the salmon domburi) and the servers are pleasant. It's smaller than the ramen joint two doors down, but I prefer the intimacy of the dining area and the quieter, non-"hangout" vibe of the kitchen. Also the servings are noticeably larger for the same (or very close) price. The owners of the long-lived Shoko restaurant (in Santa Fe) also own Naruto and, judging by the longevity of their employees, they must be doing something right. read more

Families were present in numbers as well as college types and Gen- Xers like ourselves. We were brought drinks quickly amd after ordering food arrived promptly! This is a nice small ramen restaurant. I ordered the miso ramen it was pretty good i just wish there was more flavor to the soup. I also ordered the pot stickers it was ok for me however my husband really liked them. Their plum wine is absolutely delicious and it was only $3.00 a glass its a new favorite i was impressed. It is a pretty inexpensive restaurant with delicious food. The only issue is parking is a drag not easy to find since it is on central in the nob hill/ college neighborhood. read more
