One thing I absolutely can't stand is to waste my time. Making an appointment with Gouda is a WASTE OF YOUR TIME! He never remembers. Sat and waited for over an hour before I just left. What is the purpose of scheduling an appointment 2 weeks in advance and then calling the next week just in case he didn't hear me through the mask!?! Unhappy with the customer service. I scheduled an appointment for 10:30 am over the phone a few days in advance for my 5 year old son because we have a trip. Upon arrival everyone acted like they had no clue what I was talking about and suggested I maybe booked with the wrong location. I confirmed the phone number so I know it was the right location. Everyone continued to act dumbfounded and offered no resolution. Very nonchalant like my situation didn't matter. I will not go back there again. Racist Place. I called prior to going down. I needed a shave and cut. I'm in a wheelchair and Hispanic. I went in with my wife and one female barber was LAYING down on a bench. (can u believe that) another guy cutting hair and another one waiting to cut someone else's hair. Not one person asked if they could help us, did not acknowledge that we were there for over 10 minutes. The one laying down kept (huffing n puffing like she was fricken dying) I then asked to use a restroom.... My wheelchair could not get through because if trash piled by the restroom door. Don't go to Nappy by Nature if you have plans to do anything else that day...you'll be late - really late - if you make it at all. First of all, every single barber is slow. Snails and molasses in January are both akin to Usain Bolt by comparison. Second, they place no value on their customer aside from getting paid, in cash. Why else would you go pick up lunch, text on your phone, and/or mop the floor when you have a lobby FULL of people? Bad business, you should be taking care of customers. Except that we all waited. After more than 90 minutes though, we were all invested in seeing that haircut through. Or maybe we're the idiots. Haircut was just okay all things considered. Time to find a new spot. read more

Being a person of color, I understand the difficulties associated with making my hair look good and because of that I have had trouble finding a place to go and get a good haircut. I went here one time and one time only. The lack of professionalism was a big turn off. First, when I got there, there wasn't a sign in-list. I just sat and waited, only to watch the barbers call their friends up before they called the people that had been waiting for nearly an hour. There's no such thing as "first come, first serve." When I questioned the barber on why they were calling people out of order, he claimed the people being called MIGHT'VE had appointments. But of course he couldn't prove that. I then asked for their phone number so I could make an appointment in the future. He said it costs $20 just to schedule an appointment, in addition to a $20 haircut. I cringed at the thought of paying extra money for an appointment, as I'd already seen them call their friends up ahead of people who'd arrived before them. After waiting for almost an hour and a half, I watched several barbers eat lunch and watch TV in front of customers (including myself) who were getting irritated and impatient. They completely neglected our presence so they could chat among themselves, as if they weren't running a business with paying customers. I finally got to the chair after about an hour and 45 minutes of waiting. I will say my haircut was far above satisfactory. That's about the only good thing I can say about this establishment. Started coming here about a month ago to Ali... and I came here as my previous barber/stylist was booked.. now the only barber I will go to for my undercut & designs is Ali once a week ! I would recommend this barber shop to others in a heart beat.. dope shop and the barbers here are amazing . Was referred to this shop, took my lil cousin to get a fade which turned out to be on point. Took awhile atleast 30 mins, but I appreciate the time took to receive a quality cut. This is a neighborhood shop so if you feel uncomfortable around minorities and expect the typical "Food? Water?" chick walking around, with soothing ocean sounds in the background type of place then this ain't the place to go. Tried to call multiple times before going down there to see if they made appointments but nobody answered. Got there one Saturday morning around 9:10am (they opened at 9am) and there were about 7 people ahead of my son and I. No sign in sheet but it looked like the gentlemen were going up in order they arrived. Cool, no problem. There were two barbers so they should be calling us up for a while. Nope. 10am rolls around and another barber came in but called a guy that came in 5 minutes before 10. Then another barber called a guy that came in half hour after we did and they just kept calling other people. Rather than causing a scene and getting upset in front of my son I decided to leave. We ended up leaving a little before 11. Almost two hours waiting and no call up. Never again. Customer service is horrible. The quality of their work looked good but I don't have time to wait two hours while the barbers call their friends up before clients that are waiting patiently. read more

This is one of the best shops in the area, I was the last in the shop on a Saturday and the owner had done me a huge favor and gave me a hair cut far after the time they closed up for the day. It'll cost you double, but this shop will accommodate in money for time for sure. read more

I've gave $1k+ to this place over 5 years time. They had a few bad barbers up front so I tried to limit who cut my hair. After having 2 bad experiences with some guy named Guada (long braids) they will not see me again. The guy left hair on my collar before I went to an interview a few years ago, thought it was minor. Second, I stop by after a few months and he gets mad after I requested an adjustment to my taper (very minor). And now I have a long red cut on my neck from his sharp clippers. It's a little pricey, but Joy can cut well. Not only did she do an EXCELLENT job, but took only 30 or so minutes to do both my fade and goatee (note: my regular barber is less expensive, does a great job, but takes an hour and a half MINIMUM to do the cut). Its always an adventure trying out a new barber. But she won a new regular customer as long as I'm living in the area. read more
