I needed a shower. I brought fuel but it was a while ago and the shower expired. Things are very…read moretight as they are for a lot of other drivers. I asked a fellow driver if he may lend me a shower and he said sure. At the counter, one associate was nice enough to start the process of giving the shower and then out of no where three or four other associates started yelling that we can't do that and it's against company policy. I never felt so low and worthless and ashamed. I thanked the other driver for trying to help me and walked back to my truck.

This is the site of the original truck stop in the area. The old Union 76 Truck Stop was situated…read morehere so many years ago and was always a favorite of mine. That was back before US-24 became a divided 4 lane highway. The truck stop remains, having changed hands a few times along the way. Presently, the sit down restaurant is closed, awaiting someone to take it over and put it back into operation. The restrooms are always clean, as well as the showers. They have a couple massage recliners and (I think) a video game or two. The convenience store has a decent selection of truckers stuff (CB radios,GPS units, antennas, lights, fuel additives, etc.). Typical truck stop prices. It also has snacks and refreshing drinks. They feature pizza (Hunt Brothers, I believe) by the slice. Hot coffee and tea are always available. Outside, they have 5 or 6 diesel lanes for big rigs, and multiple lanes for gasoline off to the right of the diesel. Their diesel prices are considerably cheaper than the local national chain competitors. A full service shop with 2 pull thru service bays operates during the daytime. They also have washout service for reefers. The parking lot is large and usually empty during the day. However, it fills up quickly when nightfall arrives, a situation the will continue to get worse as time goes on. All in all, a pleasant Mom-n-Pop facility that I continue to patronize in my travels through the area.

This is a very nice store located on the north side of DeRivera Park, adjacent to the Boat House…read moreBar and Restaurant. The drive through entrance is in back and easy to get into. Since you are on the island, it's awesome to have this store for so many years for convenience downtown, but do expect to pay maybe a dollar more than you would on the mainland. But, I really can't fault them for that. They have a full array of everything you'll need from snacks, cigs, beer, pop and more. You'll have to drive in at least once while you're here, or just walk right up to the cash register if you're on foot.

It looks like this was a car repair shop at one time and then converted as you pull right into the store through a big bay door and they have coolers and their shelves of stuff on each side of your car. Someone walks up to your car and you literally drive through the store until you get to the other end when you reach the register and then they ring you out. They have your typical convenience store stuff but the uniqueness of this place's layout is what earned it the four star rating.

Not very often you find a gas station in a downtown other than small town USA. The lot was large and they did a good job of handling the snow that we got on Saturday. Gas prices were good for the area and the prices inside were not jacked up to the max. The store was clean and organized. cashier was friendly and remembered to say thank you. Would stop here again.
