There's a Subway attached, which is a nice option if you're hungry, but we decided to wait until later to grab food. The layout inside is straightforward. The restrooms are clearly labeled and easy to find, located down the hall near the main entrance. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a worker with a friendly smile, which always makes a difference. The women's restroom isn't very large, about three stalls, but it was clean and well maintained. One thing that stood out was the soap, had a gritty texture, almost like a heavy-duty cleanser for oil or grease. At first, I thought I grabbed the wrong one, but after reading the label, I realized it was intentional, and it actually had a nice cherry scent. I took a quick look around afterward and noticed they had a variety of items for sale. I considered grabbing a snack but decided to hold off for now. This is a clean, easy, and convenient stop when you're on the road.

I try not to ever stop at a Pilot Truck Stop. Today, coming down American Road, the entrance was…read morebacked up. Venturing closer, I saw the problem. A rookie fleeter had come from the back lot, the wrong way against the flow of traffic in the lot, and tried to do a U-turn to enter the diesel fuel pumps. Not only did he block quite a few pumps, it was pretty evident he couldn't make the turn. So, others along side him couldn't get out and the trucks coming from the highway couldn't get in. A complete traffic jam at the Pilot. I have seen this before at other Pilots, because management courts the bottom-feeders in the industry and the result is a flock of rookies all nestled every which way in the parking areas. Add the trash that these drivers leave in the parking lot next to their truck instead of walking a few feet to a trash receptacle, and the place ends up looking ghetto. I'll admit, Pilot picks some prime locations, which makes it convenient to make a quick stop from the highway, but the lack of adequate parking, high prices in the store and at the diesel pump, make me look elsewhere. Today, a quick stop for those unfortunate to be caught up in the traffic jam will most likely result in a lengthy wait while someone decides to step up and untangle everything. I drove by.

This is the site of the original truck stop in the area. The old Union 76 Truck Stop was situated…read morehere so many years ago and was always a favorite of mine. That was back before US-24 became a divided 4 lane highway. The truck stop remains, having changed hands a few times along the way. Presently, the sit down restaurant is closed, awaiting someone to take it over and put it back into operation. The restrooms are always clean, as well as the showers. They have a couple massage recliners and (I think) a video game or two. The convenience store has a decent selection of truckers stuff (CB radios,GPS units, antennas, lights, fuel additives, etc.). Typical truck stop prices. It also has snacks and refreshing drinks. They feature pizza (Hunt Brothers, I believe) by the slice. Hot coffee and tea are always available. Outside, they have 5 or 6 diesel lanes for big rigs, and multiple lanes for gasoline off to the right of the diesel. Their diesel prices are considerably cheaper than the local national chain competitors. A full service shop with 2 pull thru service bays operates during the daytime. They also have washout service for reefers. The parking lot is large and usually empty during the day. However, it fills up quickly when nightfall arrives, a situation the will continue to get worse as time goes on. All in all, a pleasant Mom-n-Pop facility that I continue to patronize in my travels through the area.

You have to try really hard to mess up breakfast. With that said, I enjoyed my breakfast…read more Overall I give this place 4 stars because they need a new dishwasher lol. I will come back as this is the best place around here that has truck and trailer parking

What does HD really stand for?…read more On a recent road trip with friends from the burbs of Chicago to Vermont and back, my bike died at a gas station on the outskirts of Napoleon, Ohio. It was 5:45 p.m. and we were trying to make another 50 miles to the hotel before we called it a night. We were looking forward to a good dinner and a recount of the day's travels. However, the starter switch on my bike had other plans. My friends tried to push start me. No juice, no luck. Yet in the middle of what seemed like nowhere was a Harley-Davidson dealership across the road. Why the company picked that spot to put a dealership I'll never know, but God bless you. By this time, it was near 6:00 p.m. and from across the road we could see people leaving the building. I hollered to my friends to push me across the road fast to see if we could catch someone. Five minute later we were there and the dealership was officially closed. I caught a woman getting into her truck and explained my situation. She happily went back inside to get the service manager who was just wrapping up a staff meeting. Out walks Cody Bowman. Calm, collect and quietly sympathetic. After repeating my story, he gave my bike the once over and speculated it was an electrical issue. Unfortunately, all his techs had gone home for the evening and the only thing he could at that point was wheel my bike inside and get on it first thing the next morning. Since two of my friends had to be back the next afternoon, we sent them ahead and my other friend stayed behind with me. We got a room at a nearby hotel and Cody gave me and my travel gear a ride to the hotel in his truck. On the way over I learned he was from Austin, Texas and was once in situation like mine down in Nashville. He understood what it's like to stand on the other side of that service counter quaking in your riding boots. As he dropped me off at the hotel, he said they'd get to my bike early and call me when he knew something. I immediately got the feeling Cody was going to make my bike a priority. Boy does that go a long way when you're stranded on the outskirts of Napoleon, Ohio. By 9:45 the next morning, Cody's tech guy, Tim, discovered my starter wire had been rubbing inside the switch housing and had blown a fuse. No fault but my own since I'd taken the housing loose before our trip to lube the throttle cable. I must have crimped the wire replacing the cover. While Tim fixed the issue, we kicked tires and chatted with the sales folks in the showroom to kill time. Everyone at Napoleon Harley-Davidson was super friendly and happy to chat. After my bike was fixed, they washed it too. We were back on the road by noon the next day with clean bikes and a newfound confidence in Harley-Davidson. We all know the old joke about what HD stands for, but after this experience, for me it stands for Hallelujah and Dependability. Thanks again to the service manager Cody Bowman, Tim the tech guy, the two guys who washed our bikes and all the nice people who when above and beyond at Napoleon Harley-Davidson.
