But what really pulled me in were the pastries sitting in the window . They told me they were baked that morning, and you could taste that freshness in every bite . A few months ago, I was in Puerto Rico searching everywhere for a good pastry shop and couldn't find one, so stumbling upon these pastries here felt like a sweet surprise. This is a rectangular pie with three slices of each. The price seemed a little steep, but it's pretty common these days to pay $15 a person for a meal. The counter man informed us it would be 30 minutes. I appreciated the head-up, but we had no where to go...and it meant the pizza was being made fresh! It was actually done in about 20 minutes. Gorgeous to look at, and loaded down with toppings. There was no skimping here. The edges of the pie were crispy without being crunchy, and the dough underneath was soft but still could stand up to the weight of the toppings. Somewhat reminiscent of a Detroit-style pizza, but leaner and, IMO, tastier. We are half the pie, trying each type and packed the rest for home. I expect it will reheat well. Total with drinks was around $30. You could feed a family of four on this pie. Excellent!
