Sushi Rolls

This particular day we were craving sushi, after looking at our map this place had decent reviews and it was the closest to our hotel so we stopped by for dinner. The service was excellent and our server was very attentive. The food/sushi was "okay". We got two sushi rolls, vegetable gyoza, edamame, and pork dumplings. Sushi Rolls - they lacked flavor and just something in them was missing. I don't want to be a harsh critic but we've tried sushi all over the world and this was just a no for us. I'd probably wait to get sushi in US or back home next time. Veggie Gyoza - they were crisp and perfect from the outside. Just the perfect texture, but the inside was very mushy. Almost felt like we were eating mashed potatoes. It was not a texture I was expecting on the inside. Maybe the other filling options had better texture and taste! Edamame - perfectly cooked and just the right amount of salt. Definitely the highlight of our dinner! Pork Dumplings - just a no for us! The dumping dough was perfect but the pork filling was too dry and crumbly. Overall the restaurant was esthetically pleasing and very comfortable. Also the location is on the main strip of downtown Tulum and if your lucky you might get a parking spot out front. I'm giving them 3 stars because they truly tried and they were very pleasant and the place was very comfortable and inviting! In general my sushi expectations aren't usually high but when your paying over $50/USD in a third world county, you expect the sushi to be a little bit more high quality! However if your craving sushi there were two other places in Tulum (beach strip) that make delicious sushi but are even more pricer. Or best option wait to get sushi when you get home!

My gorgeous date

Ceviche came first and was excellent! Edamame is the bombe! The spicy chicken ramen is the best ramen I have ever had hands down. Got it or get lost. Miso soup is excellent. I got a shot for writing this review.

Hookah

We love this place! The food is pretty delicious. Our face was their salmon sashimi. They also have really good hookah - if you're into that kind of stuff. We loved it so much we came back 4 times. By the second time we went there, we already made friends with Jorge (or JR - depending on the friendship status). The place isn't really too crowded, but the service phenomenal! They really take care of you here :)

The server took these for me.

I loved this spot I went twice & honestly the food is that food to get decent service. The first time I went I sat, placed my order, and specifically asked my server to bring my sushi out first (they didn't). As I waited to at least get my drink which took about 30 minutes I saw people that got there after me getting things before I got anything, I'm a very patient person because I have worked in the food industry. I waited so long for SOMETHING I started to make a countdown on my phone. The manger came to my table & gave me a shot on the house for the wait & that food was honestly really good & the server was nice I just waited too long. I decided to go the very next day but again I had to wait longer than expected. Nao is just one of those places you can put some things aside because the food is good. I'll go back again again & again.

Bland roll

Hot food was great, but I've had better raw fish at airports. Great atmosphere, good drink list, and great hot menu. The rolls are a bit bland, most with cheap nasty surimi crab, cream cheese filler and thin slices of flavorless previously frozen fish.

Bigan Roll (vegan roll)

Had an amazing city scape and the food was DELICIOUS ! the vegan ramen had coconut milk and red curry paste and peanut sauce and had quite the kick, SO GOOD! Would def eat here again

Unfortunately right at the main road - so parking is difficult. But as a reward you get great sushi far a reasonable price. Friedly staff, nice place. Don't know why not to give five stars.

Stole my card and spent thousands of dollars. Food was okay. Basic rolls and nothing special. Fish was low-medium quality.

The fish was…read moremediocre at best everything that should have been hot was cold and everything that should have been cold was hot. The biggest thing that they could improve immediately would be the rice. The rice is almost inedible. How is it crunchy and lumpy at the same time? The texture made me gag multiple times. I believe good sushi doesn't need soy sauce. Well this sushi needed Diet Coke with every bite. The service was nice and enthusiastic about the menu. I couldn't tell her the truth about the food so when we got to the last roll and literally couldn't stomach more I said wed eaten too much and I'd just pay the uneaten roll charge. Some introspection in the kitchen could go a long way for this place mostly starting with the rice but literally none of the food was very good and all of it was overcooked. The mussels were chewy and gross. If you insist on trying this place do a single nigiri a la carte before you commit to the ayce. You'll thank me for saving your stomach and your wallet. To be clear, none of the food made me sick after eating it but it was physically difficult to eat while I was there.

The sushi itself was average & overpriced - but it was still tasty & visually appealing & a good choice for a meal on a super hot day. The server was very enthusiastic & very involved in our meal. The interior was super cute & the AC was blasting which was a nice relief. We tried the specialty cocktail which we think had close to 0 alcohol in it. We also tried a peach sake which was delicious but once I realized it tasted like peach Burnett's ... It was over. Cozumel Dreaming is located in a nice central location which makes it a handy option for a quick meal. I would probably choose other restaurant options before this one, but if you have a hankering for sushi specifically, then this is definitely the place to go. I wish them the best in their new location!
