First of all, I just want to say how awesome it was to work with Michael Diaz. He was warm, friendly and showed up on time to give me a very fair estimate. I decided to move forward to have my kitchen, bedroom and office hallways installed with plantation shutters. The work is absolutely wonderful and the shutters really have improved the look of my home. Having said that, there are two major negatives which led me to give four stars and not five. The first, albeit somewhat minor but annoying, is that they didn't clean up the area of their work leading to me finding screws and other items (from pulling down the old shutters). The second and more major one is that in the bedroom, they clearly made a mistake from the time they came to measure to the actual installation. As you can see from photos, the bed is in the way so the left shutter should be the one to come out first. When Mike came, he accurately mentioned this but the actual shutter was that the right one is the one that comes out first (and which is problematic because the bed is in the way) and the left cannot come out because the right one is held back by the bed post. I think they realized it during install but just didn't bother. Having said that I would actually use them again but would definitely keep an eye on them to make sure the order came out right. read more

Nantucket Shutters has earned this well deserved five star review because of many reasons but Micheal Diaz the owner is the primary factor in all of those reasons. Nantucket was the last of five, yes FIVE quotes in our quest to find the right company to install shutters in our home. # 1 Costco's provider, Galaxy Draperies (2'nd highest quote). They claimed shutters couldn't be installed on our entry door and we'd have to go with blinds there. No other companies saw an issue with putting shutters on the entry door by the way. # 2 Home Depot's provider Rockwood (lowest quote), nice young man but he was in such a hurry to leave, and get to his next appointment that it made us nervous about his company's priorities. # 3 Three Day Blinds, (higher than HD lower than Costco) really nice man who spent quite a bit of time explaining what he'd recommend, but we still weren't any closer to feeling comfortable enough. Let me say at this point that all three of the companies above offered plastic and wooden shutters however all strongly recommend we not buy wooden shutters. The recommendation concerned me since shutters have been made from wood far longer than plastic has been around. This I suspect was benefiting them and their companies bottom line not us as a customer. # 4 Shutters and More, (highest quote) this company is a local manufacturer of high quality wooden shutters based in the San Fernando Valley. I met the owner in their showroom. After visiting our home a few days later and showing us their product he provided a quote. His company was at the top of our list despite being the highest quote. I still had one more company set up with an appointment, but was convinced S & M would get the job. I have no doubt we'd have been happy with them. # 5 Nantucket. (the sweet spot on price) Michael hit it out of the park! You could tell right away that he's a genuinely nice guy! He explained every aspect of what they make from the type wood used, to the paint finish with it's 25 year warranty and his lifetime warranty on the shutters themselves. He then invited us to come see his shop and production facility in Chatsworth so we could see first hand how the process works. My mind was blown; who does that these days? His price was excellent, the turnaround time was outstanding with exactly 5 weeks from deposit to installation. Despite not being the most affordable vendor, I selected Michael and Nantucket Shutters because I liked the continuity of Michael overseeing the process from start to finish, and manufacturing the shutters at his own shop.
