Our skyline shade was installed four months after the original date we were given, and we constantly had to follow up just to get updates. The customer service representatives were unable to resolve issues and could only take down information, which meant we repeatedly had to request a manager. Even then, it took a long time to receive a callback. To make matters worse, the original order was ordered incorrectly by the design consultant, causing additional delays. I ordered my blinds on December 5th. Almost $4k for wood shutters for 4 windows. I wasn't told it takes 6 weeks. I was told I would get a tax credit as well - not true per my accountant. 6 weeks later end of January they are installed incorrectly- shutters don't close, some of the slats are broken. The 50/50 split which is the reason I purchased shutters over fabric blinds is a 90/10 split. Who would ask for only 2 slats to open/close independently from the rest of the shutters?! Now I have been waiting for 2 more months (for the items to be ordered - thought they were made here in LA?!) and they just called at 3:05 pm to cancel my 3 -5 appointment today!!! After I left work to ensure I was here for the installation!!! Now I have to wait another week. I am so upset with the customer service with this company! Here is hoping I get my blinds correctly installed in a week.....but I am not confident. Update: i'm putting this to one star for quality. The new shutters were finally installed yesterday after months of waiting and when I closed them last night, this is the first thing I see a chip in the middle of the shutters in the middle of my living room, which are so visible. I recently had 8 rolling shades installed by this company, but my experience has been disappointing. I faced two issues with the shades, and each time, they failed to return my calls to address the problems. I had to contact them multiple times to get my concerns addressed. It's been nearly four weeks since the installation, and they still haven't responded or fixed the Final issue- waves and lumps on one of the long shades. It looks absolutely horrendous. Did LA custom did a good job? Ultimately yes. But it took almost 5 months for 11 windows and 3 arches to be completed, including 3 remeasures of the 3 window arches over a total of 4 visits. A couple of the window Blinds were measured too wide on one window, but luckily we were able to swap it to another window that somehow worked AND it was a window that i would rarely open. But mechanical quality and blinds quality are good, and the Day-night blinds have us the best of both worlds with sheer and blackouts in one unit. Those are terrific! Penny helped us out with getting a good deal overall. It's just when the order is placed that things fell through the cracks and we practically went through the entire summer without finishing all the windows. read more

I had a great experience from the consultant team to installation and customer care afterwards. LA Custom Blinds provided plenty of options for me to choose from. They also gave me different mounting options as well so I could choose what best fit my windows and home. I initially purchased 18 shades with 8 being motorized. Then a year later I decided to put motors on the remaining shades. I love that I can control them from my phone or using a remote. The app allows me to group by location, set up automations and more. It also connects to my Google home and I have the same capabilities there too. I also want to mention that the battery on the motor lasts for several months for me and I have each blind set to open and close everyday. I bought a custom blind that was installed and fell off about 2 weeks later, literally fell off the home and on to the ground. I called, no return call, I sent an email, no response, went on their website and texted what said that they normally respond within minutes, several hours later, no response. I have been waiting for over three months for a simple order involving two custom window shades, and the entire experience has been extremely disappointing. Penny initially came in February to measure the windows and incorrectly swapped the width and length measurements. During the first visit, the team also arrived with only one shade, which was not only measured incorrectly but was also the wrong color. Since then, several appointments have been scheduled, only to be cancelled same day about 3-4 times. On the occasions the team has arrived, they have continued bringing the incorrect shade. After three months, my order is still not complete. In addition, La Custom Blinds has repeatedly had the wrong phone number on file and has been unable to correct this simple issue despite it being brought to their attention multiple times. Ongoing LA Custom Blinds saga. My previous reviews outline the misrepresentation of product, poor installation (broken motor never replaced), necessity for a small claims hearing, LA Custom Blinds having been properly subpoena'd failed to appear in court, subsequent judgment in our favor and now failure of LA Custom Blinds is refusing to obey the court order. To date they have received two sets of court documents we mailed to them via certified mail and they've refused to respond. Barry Balbes emailed us and asked for another copy of the court order and other court documents in our possession. Thinking he may finally be ready to make the payment we immediately emailed him everything he requested. That was three weeks ago and he never responded. I have no desire to hurt his business as he has several employees who depend on him, but I will continue to pursue this case until LA Custom Blinds honors the court judgement. We didn't ask for this and it has cost us a lot of time and money. There will be further updates as they are received by us. I guess it's possible that the company is in financial distress and cannot pay the judgement which actually is fairly small. If that is the case anyone contemplating doing business with them may want to use caution providing them any sort of deposit or downpayment as you may lose your money without any recourse to get it back. If LA Custom Blinds is not able to honor the order of the court and pay the judgement owed to us any other people considering doing business with them should consider going to a competitor who is solvent and financially in a position to honor the delivery of their future orders. read more

We ordered our blinds 6 weeks ago for over 10 windows and 2 sliding glass doors and paid over $7k. The first set that arrived had mistakes (different from what we ordered), then the second set also had mistakes (not what we ordered and pieces missing). With the second attempt, the installer did install 3 of the window blinds and we noticed quality issues with the hardware (wiggles around in the brackets) and the blinds (e.g., used black tape to attach the white fabric to the role and the black tape is visible when you pull the blind down). The installer also installed each one crooked so we asked him to stop. I have now been waiting for days for somebody to call me back and address these problems. They have a no refund policy so beware in dealing with this company. read more

I love my new window blinds, we had just remodeled our kitchen and the last thing we needed was some blinds, I called to schedule for an estimate and I kid you not Katty came within two days she did some measuring and then sat down with us and went over different kinds of blinds, I told her what our needs were and she recommended the roll up easy to clean blinds which I am so happy we went with it, our blinds were installed the following week, Carlos was our installer and he was very good he explained in details how to use the blinds, I had trouble reaching the chain to pull up the blinds and vice versa so he suggested that we get the remote blinds it was an easy install did not have to get other blinds which I thought was cool, he put in the notes for the remote and I called Katty to order the remote blinds we got it installed and I couldn't be more happy I love it, I highly recommend this company, they have great customer service, I forgot to mention I requested Carlos again, he's very patient and kind, as far as the blinds goes they are very durable and good quality they block out 99% of the sun, the nice thing is you can't see in but you can see a little out which is nice it has passed the test as far as blocking the sun, we get very strong sun from our front kitchen window and I have to say it does a good job blocking the sun, the price was good for the type of blinds we chose, In the future we plan on replacing the blinds in our other rooms, we would definitely use LA custom blinds again, thank you again Katty, Barry, Carlos and his assistant and to all office staff Rosa read more

Our consult seemed to go really well, and we went ahead with a purchase. That's where it fell apart. We were sold a system that didnt even work for our pergola. You would think the designer would have known that. Once we paid, they came out to measure and the technician identified right away that they wouldnt work. Our designer at that point became diffivcult to contact, and tried to sell us on an inferior product that we already told her was a non-starter. When asking for a refund I got ghosted, then got vaguq answers like " billing has submitted to accounting and they are reviewing your file." and "Im sorry for the delay we have been training new reps" (as if that has anythung to do with my refund.) This went on for days without ever getting a follow-up call or seeing our refund. Customer service is so bad. Finally, when notifying them that I was filing a fraudulent business transaction with my credit card, I got a response. It shouldn't be that difficult. All of this could have been prevented by their sales team knowing the feasibility of what they are selling. And it could have been fixed by a team that actually cares about customer service.
