We got a nail in our tire on our third day in the island. It happens! We went to Nantucket Auto Body, they overcharged us for a tire and said they'd have the tire over from Hyannis the next day so we could make our ferry back. At 445pm we hadn't heard from the shop so we stopped in to pick up the new tire (on the rim). The owner said "looks like the tire didn't come in" at this point everything is closed, we lost the entire day trying to get a new tire and THEN we were in the parking lot trying to figure out our next move and an older blonde woman came out of the shop and said "move your bodies move your car." It seemed like the non family employees wanted to help us but they were chastised by the owners for talking to us. Insanely rude and completely unprofessional. Tourists stay away!! read more

As the previous reviewer stated, there is nothing like the sound of THUMP, THUMP, THUMP to ruin your day. I was driving to my home on Tom Nevers road when "blam" my tire blew. I rolled into the drive way and call road side service that came with our vehicle, within an hour Nantucket Auto Body was on-site to help out! The service was awesome, the guy put on the spare in less than 2 min, meanwhile I had been struggling w/ the lug nuts for about 15 minutes and they wouldn't budge. He took our flat and said they'd try to repair it. I called back during the week to see if it could be repaired and it couldn't be, they had to order a new tire. That would have been fine but they said it was going to take 4 business days to get it, and that wasn't a guarantee. Unfortunately, we only spend part of our time on Nantucket and had previous appointments setup off-island and we couldn't wait. So, I called the vehicle dealership and they flew a tire over to Nantucket for me, it arrived in less than 2 hours after I called! So now I have a tire! I went back to Nantucket Auto Body and asked if they could mount the tire on the rim and put it back on my vehicle. Guess what, they said no. The reasons: a) it wasn't "their" tire, b) it was a low profile rim, and c) i guess because the boss was in a bad mood? The owner was walking by as they were loading my rim into my car -- he was a grump and mumbled that they couldn't do it "NOT OUR TIRE, LOW PROFILE...blah blah". Pretty ridiculous you were going to do it the day before, with the tire that was going to take 4 days to get here. Whoever they dispatched originally was great, very friendly, very helpful. The owner, not so much. I just needed a flat tire fixed, it shouldn't have been a big ordeal. I'm sure this is a-typical but i'm just calling it like i see it. My son worked in Nantucket for the summer. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of deer that live on Nantucket, he was involved in an accident with two deer literally damaging the entire front of his Nissan Altima. He proceeded to get an estimate for repairs from Nantucket Auto Body. The original estimate was around $3900. Initially my son was not going to go through insurance for repairs. But after getting the estimate for repairs, we decided to go ahead and use our insurance for the repair. When the repairs were completed by Nantucket Auto Body, the final bill was $4717.10. The amount that my insurance agreed to pay on the claims was $3217.10. The difference between the original estimate and the final bill was a difference of $817.10. My thought processes were that if the body shop could do the work for $3900 and the insurance pays $3217.10, that would mean my out-of-pocket expense would be $682.90. But, that did not happen. Because it went through insurance, Nantucket Auto Body charged a total amount for the complete job $817.10 more than they estimated. I am not sure what the industry standard is when it comes to estimates vs actual charge, but it has been my 53 year experience that body shops, come closer the $817 to an original estimate once repairs are completed. When I called to speak with them about the difference the first lady that I spoke to on the phone was not helpful at all and extremely argumentative and arrogant. They charged my son $1200.00 which is less than the $1500 difference and used that to tell me that they "gave my son a deal." Which was not the case. $1200 is almost twice what the difference out-of-pocket should have been. Just so everyone knows, if you get an estimate for repairs from Nantucket Auto Body, it is not worth the paper that it is written upon. As you can see from my situation, the Nantucket Auto Body charged to the penny what the insurance company paid ($3217.10) plus what my deductible ($1500) is. I am not sure that you can trust a company that does not stand behind an original estimate and who intentionally pads the bill when insurance is involved. Then, on top of that, have representatives answering the phone who are rude and arrogant. We are out of state, we are not local to Nantucket. So, it is my opinion, that they took advantage of us due to these truths. Let it be known, my opinion, after having done business with Nantucket Auto Body is that they either do not know what they are doing or they lie. Their estimates for repairs are worthless. Our expectation that was set by the provided estimate was that our out-of-pocket expense was going to be $600 to $800. That was not the case. read more

As most tourists who place their driving skills and faith in an auto that says four wheel drive above common sense, we chose to drive on sandy roads near the beach bluffs. All good until we took a turn before looking at the conditions and ended up stuck in deep sand. All attempts at driving out dug us deeper and deeper. After checking GPS and beach emergency number code, we called Nantucket Auto Body to be towed out. In a reasonable amount of time, they showed up and 15 minutes later had us on solid ground. While they could easily have gouged us for the price, I was happy to pay the asking price and added a generous tip (and still spent less than I anticipated). What could have been an onerous situation just became a good story to share with family and friends with a happy ending. read more

This place was a huge life saver for me about 15 mins ago and I'm so grateful I immediately wanted to write a review. We got locked out of our car (well our dog locked us out- long story) and I had my 7 week old and 2 year old outside in the cold. I was starting to get panicky because it's a holiday weekend and no garages were answering the phone. A man from Nantucket Auto body picked up right away and got out to us within 10 mins. Away on vacation on an island and my Jeep loses its brakes! Everyone on the island is backed up for weeks. The folks at Nantucket Auto Body were so considerate and thoughtful, learning that I was only on the island for a few more days. Stephanie, Ron and All stepped up and turned it around for me in hours, saving the rest of my vacation! There is nothing like the thump, thump, thump of a nail protruding from your tire the first Saturday of vacation with a three year old in the back seat in need of blood sugar. Next, add me, a captured audience 30 miles out to sea. The AAA call yields a tow truck 30 minutes later who changes the car tire gratis with the honest recommendation that the brand new spare should get me 500 miles home no sweat. Dreading the impending sticker shock recommendation of a new set of tires the next day, instead, I'm rewarded with the news that I need a $30 patch/valve stem. I was ready to shell out a grand. I walk across the road to their convenient location from the monoploy grocery store, witness the cashier entertaining a carload of children from a disraught tourist Dad, envy their client service, and punch out back to vacation. read more

I had the worst experience ever with Nantucket Auto Body today. I will be calling and complaining to AAA as soon as I finish this review. We started the morning by using our AAA card and asking Nantucket Auto Body to come out and bring a new battery. We gave them all the necessary information to ensure the right battery.The car wouldn't start so we felt sure that was what it needed. Our 1st call was at 9:37 and at 9:46 they said they were on their way. We received another message at 12:05 restating they were on their way. We were not able to get through when we tried to call them. At 2:20 they finally arrived without a battery. They jump started the car and told us to drive around and it would be fine. We hopped in and drove around for 90 minutes before stopping for groceries. Needless to say, the car full of perishable groceries wouldn't start. We called them back and 90 minutes later they arrive. We drove to the shop and got $178.00 bill. No apologies from owners, no discount, no kindness, or responsibility taken. Our entire day and groceries a bust without an apology except from receptionist when owners stepped out. A miserable experience from an incompetent business. read more

A low tire pressure warning light came on my dash. I know as much about this as a 5th grader knows about nuclear physics. I looked up "tires Nantucket" on google, got three suggestions, Nantucket Auto Body being the first and most convenient. I was a little skeptical as I had a tire issue and not an auto body issue. The reviews could not have praised the employee service any higher. So the next morning I drove down, met the two very polite and competent ladies in the office who introduced me to a service tech. He took my car, drove it to a bay, checked all the tire pressures, diagnosed the problem (dented rim and not a punctured tire) made sure that the warning was off, drove my car to the street and said I was good to go, no payment due. Could not have been a more pleasant experience - all done in 10 minutes! read more

We had a problem with two tires on our jeep and were told that the wait for drop off at the jeep dealer was two weeks. With absolutely no expectation of having the problem fixed quickly we dropped into Nantucket Auto Body - They couldn't have been any more accommodating and had our vehicle back the next day. 12/02/15 Cold, dark foggy rainy night in Nantucket. Stopped to fill my jeep up with gas & check the air in my tires. RrRrRrRr.... Again. Again. Nothing. Called NAB. "Be there in 5..." (Yeah, ikr?) well lo & behold, 4 min, 45 sec later here he comes! Took a look, asked if I had AAA (well no, but I've got Roadside Assistance thru my ins co! Thank you for asking!!!) Guys put a bad alternator in my vehicle the week before catching the ferry home. Cost $500. Car died in line for the ferry. Had it towed to Sullivan Tire in Hyannis and they replaced the "bad" alternator that these guys put in for $350. Island prices I guess. Having no luck getting any consideration from these guys regarding a refund. Would never use them again. read more
