Great Values! Flavorful, fast, and tasty! Will be back again soon. Portion size was nice, atmosphere lighthearted.

Left me unimpressed, the chicken was gross. The fries were in tasteful and the service was bad .

Four stars for great American classics surrounded by the London vibe. The city bustles about…read moreoutside, but through these doors, it's time to chill and gorge on unhealthy, yet delicious deep-fried goodness. If you're not too familiar with Southern American cuisine, fried chicken & waffles has been all the rage since, like, forever. It's been making a big comeback in LA recently, however, and we have one called 'Birdies' wit ha similar fried chicken & doughnut concept. Sadly, though, the taste of the chicken itself isn't really any better than you would find at any of the local fried chicken chain restaurants you'll find scattered throughout London. The thing to get your first time here are either the wings for starters and at least one fried chicken & waffle dish. My suggestion: Go with The Original Waffle Burger- A hefty portion of 2 100% free range chicken thighs, bacon, American cheese, house BBQ, mayo, hot sauce, & Canadian maple syrup, miraculously wedged between 2 freshly griddled waffles. At £14, it is a bit of a splurge, but believe me, if you like to eat, this is well worth it. They have plenty of other, less gut-bursting options like fried chicken skillets, smaller burgers- including a veggie beet burger- wings, sides like deep-fried pickles, cheesy Korean fries, & jalapeño corn pudding, and of course, decadent desserts like the Ice Cream Doughnut Sandwich & Deep-Fried Waffle with Ice Cream, Cinnamon Sugar, Chocolate & Caramel Sauce, & Whipped Cream. Oh, and don't forget, such an unhealthy meal just wouldn't be complete without plenty of booze to go around, from cocktails, ales, beers, & ciders. Yes, it is ridiculous. I hope you have friends to share with. It might help it to go down easier.

The chicken was supremely moist with a nice crunchy coating. The spice of the hot sauce was lost within the burger... The bun was too big for the chicken portion and overwhelmed the flavors of the chicken. Next time I'll be ditching the bun and focusing on the main dish... The chicken. Also ordered a side of the jalapeno corn dish, which was tasty.

OMG why do they not have these places where I live in NJ or even in NYC? This was just here near my hotel and the food was just great. Fries? Great. Kofte Kebab sandwich? The veggies were so tasty and fresh it was like a little salad. Hubs got a piece of fried chicken and it was delicious. Kid got a cheeseburger and devoured it immediately. Not only was the food good, they got our order right even though we had a hard time deciding and were confusing about it. So if you are nearby and hungies? This place is a great spot to land and eat or pick up and take away. Fast. Delicious. Kind service. Inexpensive. Do it!

But here's the mystery of the maths, right: Tuesday special of a lamb doner and chicken doner for £3.50 each. That's a total of £7. We noticed this offer written up on the board after we'd ordered and paid already. I'd handed over a £20 bill and got £12 in change... so a total of £8. So when we seated ourselves at a nearby booth to await our food, the hubbub and annoyance of the fellows behind the counter seemed out of place. Asked in irritated tones, 'You wanted takeaway, right?' Er... no... 'That's an extra 50p charge for eat-in...' Grumbles ensued, and our confusion escalated, before finally he relented, saying 'It's okay, it's okay... sit down, we'll bring you your kebabs.' Even if there -was- a 50p extra charge, we'd already paid a pound over what their signage indicated... Whatevs. In the end, we were served huge plates with mounds of meat tucked into little half-pittas. Heaps of salad with brilliantly purple crispy cabbage came on the sides, and two tubs of properly spicy harissa and yoghurt sauce were welcome offerings. Whilst I will admit that the meat I had at Crystal Kebab near Kings Cross a few nights prior was superior in tenderness and flavour, the volume of food at an affordable price at City Best was undeniable. Perhaps the best endorsement I can offer on the quality and quantity of food is this: I ate here sober and I'd do it again.
