This Nando's location is located on John William St, it is opposite Lloyds Bank in an old building right in the heart of the town centre of Huddersfield. The layout of the store is a little unique, due to the fact it is located in an old building and they have previously expanded the premises. There are multiple steps around the restaurant including to get inside, get between floors and between the fire exit area (where there are a couple of booths) and the main part of the restaurant, so obviously do be careful.
They do use halal chicken here, which is great if you require that. I do find that halal chicken at Nandos never seems to taste as good, normally there isn't a difference between halal and non-halal meat, so perhaps it is a supplier issue.
The staff here seemed really pleasant and helpful, special credit goes to the manager Ahmed who did his best to ensure I had the best experience possible. He delivered the Nando's good service I've come to love and expect. I like how he also offered me a pitcher of water, many other locations always force you to go back and forth, filling up a tiny glass of water, which is something I hate, as I often dine alone, I hate leaving my food for a couple of seconds, taking my belongings to and from the water machine.
Despite the listed building status and unique restaurant layout, I do think it looks rather good on the inside, Nando's have truly transformed this building to make it as modern and unique as possible, compared to a boring eyesore.
My food was fairly good, although the temperature could have been better, the food looked and tasted rather good. I ordered my usual order of my medium-spiced Chicken Butterfly with peri chips, creamy mash and chicken gravy. I do always find Nando's overpriced for what it is, with my food coming to £14.25 but this is no more than any other Nando's.
4* - A fairly good experience overall and I would likely return here on future trips to Huddersfield. read more
