This is a good Nando's location, located in the town of Walkden as part of Ellesmere Shopping Centre, the unit is fairly large and has parking right outside. It appears to have opened in 2020, yet the interior still feels fresh, modern and most importantly clean, with several booths and cushioned seating.
The staff was friendly, I was taken to my table, and I was asked the usual questions, such as if I had visited Nando's before and if I had an allergy. I explained that this was my first time visiting Nando's Walkden, but not Nando's in general, so she quickly pointed out the key areas, such as where to get water/cutlery/sauces/order.
I did find the food expensive for what it is, as of November 2024, my meal came to £15.20, which I find to be rather expensive for fast casual, and that doesn't include extras such as drinks and Perinaise. The prices also seem to be rising out of control, even in the current climate, they seem to be putting their prices up every couple of months, much more frequently than rivals. Despite being a chicken restaurant, they don't offer regular mayonnaise, so you'll have to choose between their vegan alternative or pay extra for their Peri-naise (mayonnaise mixed with peri-peri sauce)
For my food, I ordered a Medium Spiced Chicken Butterfly with peri chips and mash, the portion size was very generous, especially with the sides. Due to being coeliac, a manager took my order, he was very friendly and we chatted briefly as he was impressed as I remembered my Nando's loyalty card number. I also was impressed that the server who brought my food to my table reminded me of their allergy handling processes to make me feel assured and safe eating my food.
My food was hot, and it was up to the usual Nando's standards and the speed of service was good. I do think the mayo was a key element in elevating the dish, so it's a good job I brought mine from home, and it's a real shame they refuse to provide this to customers at a meat-based restaurant.
4* - Has the potential to be one of the strongest Nando's in Manchester, a good experience and I will return. read more
