We ate here this past weekend and chose it for two reasons: 1) it's always packed and 2) it's highly rated on google and yelp. First for the good things: the restaurant itself is super cute and it feels like you're eating inside of an old house, and the salsas that they brought out for our food (the two pictured) were quite good. Now for the not so good things. Service was not the best. Our waitress was friendly but it seemed like she was overwhelmed. She brought us our drinks and the first salsa and said she would come back with chips. She then never came back and began attending to other tables. We had to remind her about the chips. She then brought out the food and I was brought the wrong order. My boyfriend patiently waited for me to get my food so we could eat, but I felt bad because his food was getting cold. The food was not good. Nothing had flavor and almost everything needed salt. The first salsa needed salt, and our food needed salt. My migas tasted like nothing. The beans were good and were not canned beans and, as I stated above, the two salsas she brought out were good, but that was it. The salsas salvaged my food because otherwise it had no flavor. One of our forks was also filthy and had old cheese on it, so we couldn't use it. We weren't the only ones having issues. The table next to us was another couple and the husband was also brought out the incorrect order but his wife was given the correct order. The waitress (same as ours) took forever to bring him his food and his wife said her food was getting cold while waiting for his food. The husband did not want to remind the waitress and we heard him say, "I want to see how long it takes her to remember my food." We decided we would not be back. Great breakfast! Tasted delicious and with a great ambiance, mostly of locals. Service was quick and efficient!!

The food is a typical Mexican-American café in South Texas. It's simple, good, and cheap. The service is good and the ambience is what you would expect in a quiet café. This is the kind of place Your grandparents would go 30 years ago. And I guarantee you there are people that have been going here for 30 years. The best place to eat in Weslaco Texas for breakfast or lunch. My husband and I were in Weslaco because I was getting Implants in Mexico. We ate it several different spots in Weslaco and Nancy's topped them all clean tasty friendly. I will be back sometime in the next two weeks. read more

We choose Nancy's for a number of reasons. First, it's local. Second the food is delicious! Third, the service is great. They always have daily specials with excellent prices. My favorite is the Veracruzanos! The Mexican food is awesome, but there are great American food options as well. read more

Cute diner like atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Excellent food! I had the Western Ham and cheese omelette that came with toast, hash browns, and sliced tomatoes. My husband had the migas that came with hash browns and tortillas. We split a pancake which was plate sized! Everything was delicious. We'll definitely be going back. read more

Horrible food, nothing was homemade. The mac and cheese was velveeta shells, instant mash potatoes, veggie mix was from a frozen bag. My fried fish was bland, tarter sauce was warm. My.husbands chicken fried steak was overcooked. The owner, Nancy was there but did not interact with any of the customers, or come to tables to check on customers like you would expect from a small business owner. Mexican & American restaurant breakfast & lunch specials everyday or anything of the menu friendly staff and delicious food

We discovered this restaurant quite by accident. We were on our way to a favorite Italian restaurant in the valley called Cortino's. They were closed for the holiday. Bummer! We saw all the cars and decided to stop. The coffee was pretty good. The staff is wonderful, friendly and helpful. In fact, our waitress said that this was like home; we could have what we wanted and how we wanted it! She kept our coffee hot and came back often. Even the young man who was clearing tables offered suggestions and encouraged us to order the specials. I am a taco fanatic so I ordered the typical bean and cheese and a miga taco. My husband asked for the salsa ranchera and it was delicious! The tacos are so big that i brought one home. We shared it the next day. Unfortunately, the machacado with egg was overcooked and dried out. He used a lot of the ranchera salsa on his plate. This seems to a problem with some restaurants: overcooking the machacado with egg dishes. The flour tortillas are a little different; they have an almost flaky consistency. I would definitely go back to try different things. There menu includes both Mexican and American plates. Lunch was less than $20 for two without tip. read more
