If you want Mexican breakfast, this is a good spot to check out. The service is excellent too. Portions are good size and the seasoning is good.

Fruit was going bad and still served.

Place is overrated, food wasn't flavorful or too salty. Tortillas were hard when received. The water station was unsanitary and next to the dirty dishes area, and when we got water there was lime pulp in it for some reason. Don't get fresh fruit expecting it to be edible.

    Masked and vaxxed!

Lovely restaurant with delicious fajitas and good service. Super attentive staff and a fun ambiance. Very easy dining with a toddler.

For my Los Angeles friends, the Tex Mex version of Migas is scrambled eggs with a mix in of corn tortilla chips. It often includes jalapenos and onions, which is how I remember it. So simple, so good, so like my grandma used to make. Jose's Cafecito nailed it! Jose's Cafecito is located behind and attached to Hotel Cortez in Downtown Weslaco. Service is excellent and I'm sure the other menu items are as well. I hope to find out on a return visit sometime in the future. Tomorrow, I must continue to explore the local diners. But I will be back.

First for the good things: the restaurant itself is super cute and it feels like you're eating inside of an old house, and the salsas that they brought out for our food (the two pictured) were quite good. Now for the not so good things. Service was not the best. Our waitress was friendly but it seemed like she was overwhelmed. She brought us our drinks and the first salsa and said she would come back with chips. She then never came back and began attending to other tables. We had to remind her about the chips. She then brought out the food and I was brought the wrong order. My boyfriend patiently waited for me to get my food so we could eat, but I felt bad because his food was getting cold. The food was not good. Nothing had flavor and almost everything needed salt. The first salsa needed salt, and our food needed salt. My migas tasted like nothing. The beans were good and were not canned beans and, as I stated above, the two salsas she brought out were good, but that was it. The salsas salvaged my food because otherwise it had no flavor. One of our forks was also filthy and had old cheese on it, so we couldn't use it. We weren't the only ones having issues. The table next to us was another couple and the husband was also brought out the incorrect order but his wife was given the correct order. The waitress (same as ours) took forever to bring him his food and his wife said her food was getting cold while waiting for his food. The husband did not want to remind the waitress and we heard him say, "I want to see how long it takes her to remember my food." We decided we would not be back. Not sure what the hype is because we just didn't see it.

I've returned several times since then and my experiences have been consistently positive. Restaurants tend to have high employee turnover rates, and can have personnel issues from time to time - especially on challenging days when they're getting slammed like on that Mother's Day. So here's my redemption review... This LongHorn Steakhouse is located on the north side of Interstate 2 (Expressway 83) in Weslaco, in front of the JCP and Academy stores and in between Texas Blvd. And N. Bridge Road. The current management has maintained the property well. It is a handsome building with the trademark stonework facade, nicely landscaped, with ample, well lit parking. It is handicapped accessible, and high chairs for toddlers are available. It would be good for small groups as well as family get-togethers, and business lunch or date night. They offer their signature steaks, burgers, salmon, chicken, some comfort food like their excellent mac n cheese, salads, and more. I met some friends here for a late lunch on a Saturday around 4 PM. There was no wait. Our server did an incredible job, was friendly, attentive, and checked back on us several times. She kept our drinks filled and even offered a to-go cup as we were wrapping up. The fresh baked bread and butter was delicious, served along with our drinks while we looked over the menu. I ordered the 8 ounce sirloin, a loaded baked potato, and the crispy Brussels sprouts. I noticed the potato had a lot of salt encrusted on the skin, but since I did not eat the skin, it was not a problem - though it could be an issue for those on low-sodium diets. The Brussels Sprouts were crispy on the outside for the most part... I would have enjoyed them more a bit crisper and with some Balsamic vinager, but they were still pretty good. The steak was cooked as requested and delicious. My friends also enjoyed their orders. There was some background music, but it was at a decent level so it did not hinder our conversation. I really enjoyed this visit and dining experience, recommend this LongHorn Steakhouse, and based on my last three visits am awarding them the full five stars.

On top of that, I couldn't even get a simple drink refill. I asked one server walking by--nothing. Asked another one--still nothing. Asked the same girl a second time, and only then did she finally bring it, but by that point I was already finished with my meal. The service was unbelievably slow and frustrating. I requested beef fajitas, two cheddar cheese enchiladas, a crispy corn taco with ground beef filling. The plate included rice and beans, guacamole and a choice of tortillas. I asked for flour. When my plate arrived the food looked hot, tasty and freshly made. After giving everything on my plate a try, here is my subjective assessment of the meal. Again, this was my only visit so I didn't try anything else. Service: 5 out 5, servers were friendly, helpful and attentive. You can tell they take pride in their jobs. They all wore matching black T-shirts. They refilled my drink and stopped by to ask if I needed anything else. Atmosphere: 5 out 5, not fancy but who cares. It was clean, comfortable and inviting. It feels like it's been there since 1972. Food: 3 out 5, although the items on my plate looked fresh and tasty, I felt only two items really stood out. The crispy taco was the best item on my plate. It was crunchy and delicious. The flour tortillas were freshly made and delicious. However, the beef fajitas were bland and chewy. The cheese enchiladas seriously lacked flavor. The cheese filling and enchilada sauce could and should have been better. The rice and refied beans were flavorless. Overall, the flavors were muted and I would say needed more seasoning. I wanted to give it a higher rating. I may try going again in the future but I'll order something different. They serve breakfast too.
