Update 11 months later: We are back, and this place is still awesome. I can't believe I'm the only reviewer so far! Great prices and attention to detail! The ground beef tacos (on special) were awesome. The tortillas were lightly fried so just a little crispiness to them. The green salsa was GREAT, nice and spicy. The meal started with a cup of soup (tasty and unexpected), and ended with an offer of some cake (which tasted like tres leches). My favorite place to eat in the Valley. ...Yelp deleted my prior review when I "edited" it. In sum, we found this restaurant last year and loved it, This place has awesome food and service. We miss it when we go back to DC. Wish we could find a place like this up there!

Chips and salsa awhile u wait.

Great family owned restaurant. Let me start by saying as soon as u walk in . You will notice that place is old . But through reviews on yelp on being a good place. I took a chance. The food is wonderful and is the service. I ordered protein and fiber all in one plate.. my plate was ham and egg a la mexicana with cactus and beans on the side. My lil princess ordered a plate barbacoa , egg, and beans on side. Barbacoa is beef tongue from a cow. Dont knock it to u try it. It was absolutely delicious.. soft and with the right spices added. I got a chance to meet the owner a very nice lady with good convo and her daughter was are waitress. She did a excellent job even serve us breakfast past there normal time of 11 am. We got there at 12:00. Yes , i go again and again. Lil antique restaurant are the gems of my childhood past and to share it with my kids is a great thing.

Mini pan dulce is next door!

Great spot for our birthday celebration! The samosas and pakora were a great start! Our table…read moreshared butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, green chicken curry, and lamb biryani. We ordered medium spice, which was lots of flavor and a little heat. The garlic naan is mandatory. The jasmine rice is perfectly flavored. The service was friendly and super attentive. We all left full and completely satisfied!

As a review update I have to give this place 5 stars now!! Last time I came here the wait was long…read morebut it was definitely an off day. I'm so happy to come back and finally meet the super nice owner who warmly welcomed us and wanted to give us an amazing experience. The service was very fast and accommodating :) We ordered the beef nihari, butter chicken, chicken biryani, and naan. The complimentary chips and salsas/chutneys were given complimentary in the beginning and we loved how spicy some of them were. The owner gave us some extra dip as well! All the main dishes tasted authentic, as if they were made at home with love. I've been craving nihari for a long time and this one was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! It was creamy and hearty with the most tender pieces of boneless beef. The butter chicken was very flavorful and rich. The gravy was addicting to eat and that bowl was completely empty at the end of the night. The chicken biryani was great too! Each of the curries came with a bowl of white rice. I'll be coming back again and again and can't recommend this place enough for the best desi food in the valley!

Whenever in "The Valley" I always get my craving for home made flour tortillas! I'm always looking…read morefor a good homey spot. Mom suggested we come to Los Comales and try it for breakfast There was only 1 waitress running around, and looked pretty busy but she still took care of us. She quickly took our order and brought mom a coffee and brought me a huge glass of ice tea because when in Texas that's what you gotta have, sweet ice tea! She also brought us a salsa and toasted flour tortilla chips. Salsa needed a little extra kick so I asked for an order of grilled jalapeños (Chiles toreados). I gotta say, this place is pretty straight forward. A daily special runs for under 6 bucks and it includes coffee. We didn't see what was written on special board because we already had our hearts set on machaca and egg flour tortilla tacos. Machaca is dried shredded beef that's cooked along with the egg. The three taco special with refried beans is 5.89 ish.. under 6 and you can order different kind. I had 2 machaca with egg and 1 potato, chorizo with egg. I also ordered an extra flour tortilla to try my beans. Oh what an awesome surprise, the refried beans tasted like they've been cooked with bacon grease! Nom nom; totally reminded me of home. Everything was so delicious. I'll be definitely be back for lunch, I hear they have some pretty mean mole enchiladas. My bill for the 2 of us was 17.24. That's pretty inexpensive for a home made cooked breakfast. I was very happy with my food and the service. If you're ever down this way, try the taco specials.
